From April to October 2017 I hiked about 4500 km from my hometown Bassenheim in Germany to Nordkapp in Norway. I took one picture of the trail on each day I was hiking.
It was only on the 4th day when I joined the E1 hiking trail near Bad Marienberg. From there I followed it all the way up to Nordkapp.

On the second day we woke up at six in the morning, made breakfast and called Anka. Anka should pick us up at Lythrodontas, 7 km.from our camp. in only 1 hour and 20 minutes, we were already at Lythrodontas.

This was our first try of going out to nature.
Pros: Great Nature, E4 is really nice path, excellent exercise.
Cons: We didn't follow the plan, we had very heavy bags.

Long-distance trail
Long-distance trails (or long-distance tracks, paths, footpaths or greenways) are the longer recreational trails mainly through rural areas, used for non-motorized recreational travelling (walking, backpacking, cycling, horse riding or cross-country skiing).
Any route named as a "trail" (or "way", in the UK) will probably be marked, or identified on a map, but it will usually only be described as "long-distance" if it takes the average user more than one day to travel from end to end. Typically, a "long-distance" trail, way or path will be at least 50 km (31 mi) long, but some in Britain are several hundred miles long, and many in the US are much longer.
In some countries, official "trails" will have the surface specially prepared to make the going easier.
In the UK long-distance paths are simply existing rights of way (over private land) "joined together" (perhaps with specially negotiated linking sections) to make a named route. Generally the surface is not especially prepared (which can come as a surprise to walkers from abroad, who find their distance-covering estimates need to be rethought to take rough ground into account) except in special places such as converted rail tracks, or some "busy" hilly areas where stone slabs are laid to prevent erosion.

Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail (commonly abbreviated as the PCT, and officially designated as the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail) is a long-distance hiking and equestrian trail closely aligned with the highest portion of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges, which lie 100 to 150 miles (160 to 240 km) east of the U.S. Pacific coast. The trail's southern terminus is on the U.S. border with Mexico, just south of Campo, California, and its northern terminus on the U.S.–Canada border on the edge of Manning Park in British Columbia; its corridor through the U.S. is in the states of California, Oregon, and Washington.
The Pacific Crest Trail is 2,663 mi (4,286 km) long and ranges in elevation from just above sea level at the Oregon–Washington border to 13,153 feet (4,009 m) at Forester Pass in the Sierra Nevada. The route passes through 25 national forests and 7 national parks. Its midpoint is near Chester, California (near Mt. Lassen), where the Sierra and Cascade mountain ranges meet.

From April to October 2017 I hiked about 4500 km from my hometown Bassenheim in Germany to Nordkapp in Norway. I took one picture of the trail on each day I was hiking.
It was only on the 4th day when I joined the E1 hiking trail near Bad Marienberg. From there I followed it all the way up to Nordkapp.

On the second day we woke up at six in the morning, made breakfast and called Anka. Anka should pick us up at Lythrodontas, 7 km.from our camp. in only 1 hour and 20 minutes, we were already at Lythrodontas.

This was our first try of going out to nature.
Pros: Great Nature, E4 is really nice path, excellent exercise.
Cons: We didn't follow the plan, we had very heavy bags.

Karel Sabbe is a Belgian dentist who recently ran the fastest known time along the Pacific Crest Trail. The Pacific Crest Trail is a long distance path running from Mexico to Canada, following a mountain chain running all the way to Alaska. Walking the Deeside Way - Part 1 (Aberdeen to Banchory)
First in a three part series. The Deeside Way is a long distance path in Scotland running from near the centre of Aberdeen City, to Ballater, in the Cairngorms National Park. The route follows the line of the Old Royal Deeside Railway from Aberdeen to Banchory, through woodland and farmland to Kincardine O’Neil and then rejoins the old line from Aboyne to Ballater, total distance 41 miles. The Deeside Railway was a line that travelled from Aberdeen to Ballater as a stretch of the Great North of Scotland Railway. Its tracks have since been removed in their entirety and the path opened as a track to the public. Vrindavan Parikrama is a spiritual walk undertaken by devotees around Vrindavan town in Uttar Pradesh. It has no particular start or end place. As long as you end at the same place you start, the purpose is served. One possible path is to start from the famous ISKCON temple, covers a distance of 10 km (6.2 mi)in about three hours. For this fall backpacking trip we'll be dipping into the world of the Appalachian Trail while testing out some new hammock camping gear - most notably, the Amok Draumr 3.0 Hammock system...

...The Draumr 3.0 is a rather unique flat hammock that I touched on in a previous video, 'Amok Draumr 3.0 – A Super Flat Hammock? – First Look'. As discussed in that video, the Draumr works in conjunction with an inflatable sleeping pad to create what is essentially a floating bed. It can also be used in a chair configuration for lounging at camp. In addition to testing out the Draumr, I'll be trying out some whoopie slings rigged up with some Dutch Whoopie Hooks. The hooks allowed for a really quick and simple way to attach and detach the whoopie slings to my trusty Darien Dream Hammock.
With our shelter and sleeping methods squared away, we were ready for some exploration of the east coast's most fabled long distance hiking path - the Appalachian Trail, the "AT" as it's affectionately called by those of us who prefer a nice acronym now and the. While I've incorporated pieces of the AT into many of my trips before, this particular hike seemed to really capture the spirit and flavor of the Appalachian Trail.
Trailhead and Parking: James River Footbridge N37° 35.819' W79° 23.474'
The James River Face Wilderness Area is a protected area located within the Jefferson National Forest, about 1 hour north of Roanoke, Virginia.
Route Taken and Trails Used, Day One
Cross the James River Foot Bridge
Turn left to continue following the AT.
The trail will eventually turn away from the river and and head deeper into the woods,following along Matt's Creek.
Arrive at Matt's Creek Shelter for a snack break at the picnic bench, and an entertaining peek at the shelter log.
Head up the ridge to continue on the Appalachian Trail
5 miles into the hike there will be a decent lunch spot (marked in my GPS data) with a nice, flat sunny area for lounging before ascending further up the the ridge. This spot was also the last flowing water source we encountered for the rest of the day. If you plan to camp up on the ridge in the same area that we did, make sure to stock up on enough water for the rest of the day, as well as tomorrow for breakfast and the hike out, to be safe.
Continue on the AT until arriving at the three way junction with Balcony Falls Trail and Sulphur Springs Trail.
Continue along the Sulphur Springs trail for a little less than a mile.
Camp at the site listed in my GPS Data.
Day 1 Total Mileage: 6.8 Miles
Day 1 Total Elevation Gain: 2,297'
Route Taken and Trails Used, Day Two
We chose to immediately start our day back on our old friend, the AT. This was possible by doing a very small "bushwack" west from the campsite until you run into the adjacent campsite then head south on the AT by turning left.
Continue along the AT until you hit the triple junction with Sulphur Springs, the AT and Piney Ridge Trail.
Head down the Piney Ridge Trail, towards Hunt Club Road, which will eventually bring you to Rt 501 Lee Jackson Highway.
Turn left (north) to do a road hike along Lee Jackson Hwy for a short bit.
We chose to make a more expedient route back to the car, by continuing to walk along the road, over the auto bridge's pedestrian sidewalk. This route gave us a pretty cool view of the man made waterfall, as well as an alternate view of the rail trestle and footbridge that we had traveled over the previous day.
Arrive back at the Jame River Foot Bridge Parking lot and prepare yourself for cheeseburger time.
Day 2 Total Mileage: 8 Miles
Day 2 Total Elevation Gain: 486'
Trip Mileage Grand Total: 14.8 Miles
Trip Elevation Gain Grand Total: 2,783'

First in a three part series.
The Deeside Way is a long distance path in Scotland running from near the centre of Aberdeen City, to Ballater, in the Cairngorms National Park.
The route follows the line of the Old Royal Deeside Railway from Aberdeen to Banchory, through woodland and farmland to Kincardine O’Neil and then rejoins the old line from Aboyne to Ballater, total distance 41 miles.
The Deeside Railway was a line that travelled from Aberdeen to Ballater as a stretch of the Great North of Scotland Railway. Its tracks have since been removed in their entirety and the path opened as a track to the public. While in operation, the railway was used by the British Royal Family during travel to their Scottish retreat at Balmoral, hence the local name the Royal Deeside Line.
The path is suitable for walkers and cyclists with many sections suitable for horses as well and is Route 135 of the National Cycle Network which is coordinated and promoted by Sustrans.
This is my third time walking the route (first walked in 2014), as I live nearby, I consider it my gateway to the Cairngorms.

Vrindavan Parikrama is a spiritual walk undertaken by devotees around Vrindavan town in Uttar Pradesh. It has no particular start or end place. As long as you end at the same place you start, the purpose is served. One possible path is to start from the famous ISKCON temple, covers a distance of 10 km (6.2 mi)in about three hours. It is generally done on Ekadasi (eleventh lunar day of the waxing and waning of Moon). The route followed is from ISKCON temple, walk close to the Krishna Balarama Temple, the Krishna-Balarama tree, Gautam Rishi's Ashrama (located on the left while on the right is Varaha Ghata), the Kaliya Ghata, Madana Mohana Temple with red sandstone tower, small wooden bridge, to Imli Tala, the Imli Tala tree, Sringara Vata (on the right), the Kesi Ghat (one of the famous Monuments in Vrindavan), the Tekari Rani temple, the Jagannatha temple and the small temple of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and in the final stretch cross the Mathura-Vrindavan road. After crossing this road, after another 1 km walking, reach the starting point of the Parikrama. During the Parikrama, one chants the mantras (Jap or Hymns ) within, uses body power (Tap) to accomplish the Parikrama and keeps a fast (not eat anything) (Vrata) till the Parikrama is completed.

‘Great Himalaya Trails’ (GHT) is a re-brand title for the original ‘The Great Himalaya Trail’. Whereas the original trail was a route across the country from east to west, the new re-brand adds a collection of various trails in the upper and middle districts of Nepal to the original route. The purpose of this re-brand is to open up new trekking products and support inclusive rural development in these areas.
The original concept of - 'The Great Himalaya Trail' - was to establish a single long distance trekking trail from the east end to the west end of Nepal that includes a total of roughly 1,700 kilometers long path. There is a proposed trail of more than 4,500 kilometres (2,800 mi) stretching the length of the Greater Himalaya range from Nanga Parbat in Jammu & Kashmir to Namche Barwa in Tibet thus passing through, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. Although an actual continuous route is currently only a concept, if completed it would be the longest and highest alpine hiking track in the world.[citation needed]
In November 2014, cross-country hikes of Nepal and Bhutan sections have been undertaken by a well-funded international non-governmental organization and visiting some of the most remote communities on earth, it would pass through the diverse landscapes found in the region including valleys, plateaus and landscapes. Nepal’s proposed GHT has 10 sections comprising a network of upper and lower routes.
