ぶんひともっとい 文七元結 さんゆうてい えんきつ 三遊亭圓橘 --------------- 圓朝作品の名作『文七元結』 ～闇の夜に吉原ばかり月夜かな　其角～ 「文七元結」は、圓朝の創作です。 吾妻橋から娘お久を想う親父長兵衛。本所達磨横町の左官 長兵衛、腕は立つのだが、・・・・人情噺のひとつ。 「元結」とは、髪を結い束ねる紐のことで、長いコヨリ（紙縒）に布海苔と胡粉（ごふん）を練り合わせた接着剤を数回にわたって塗布し、乾燥させた上で米の糊を塗って仕上げたのが元結。 （お相撲さんが結った髪をまとめている白い紙製の紐です） --------------- 六代目三遊亭 圓橘： 1945年（昭和20）11月21日生。東京都世田谷区出身 出囃子は『小鍛冶』 通称、「深川の師匠」　三遊亭圓朝の芸の流れを受けた三代目三遊亭小圓朝の最後の弟子人情噺、滑稽噺、文芸ネタなど幅広くこなす。 落語界では『圓朝』ものの定評が高く、『圓朝』全作品を語れる唯一の噺家といわれている 深川江戸資料館にて「三遊亭圓橘の会」を定期的に開催。 --------------- Prologue Most skillful craftsmen have personality flaws… For example some who like to drink become alcoholic… or those who like women get into trouble. But the worst ones are the gamblers. Well to tell you the truth… among us Rakugo storytellers only the 2 masters didn’t gamble! Ensho the 6th and Shozo the 8th. They didn’t like it at all and were able to resist temptation while others could not. As I mentioned before, my master Koensho liked to gamble. I asked his wife about it and she admitted it. She knew me by my first stage name Choji. So she told me, “He liked to gamble Choji and it annoyed me a lot.” She said he was quite a gambler when he was young. But nowadays to look at him… I wouldn’t imagine it could be true anymore because he looks like such a square guy… When Master Ensho was a kid he performed in the theatre. He used the name Mame-kana-dayu. That’s when he started to dislike gambling. At that time he was doing Gidayu storytelling with music. His mother played Shamisen guitar along with his story. All the performers started gambling backstage. Nowadays that kind of thing wouldn’t happen… But back then they were all old Meiji era performers. Even if Ensho won fare and square he was just a kid. So the adults would steal it back saying - that’s mine! Then he thought, “Damn, they even cheat kids.” And that turned him off gambling. In spite of a craftsman’s good skills… it’s a pity to give a wife and children such a headache. As the old saying goes… kids may bother parents but it’s worse for parents to make children unhappy. Well, to get on with the husband and wife story… Chobei (Husband) ”Hey, it’s dark in here! What’s going on? Put on the lights! Ahh… that’s better.” Okane (Wife) Lights? Why are you worried about that! You must have lost tonight at the Hosokawa mansion!” (Husband) ”Hmph…nobody gambles to lose. I was expecting to win… but the dice didn’t give me my numbers! Why are you weeping?” (Wife) ”I’m terribly worried! Our daughter Ohisa stayed out all night and hasn’t returned!” (Husband) ”Hmm…she’s not here! So what’s the problem? There’s an old saying that even peas in the shade pop when the time comes. Recently woodworker Hanko has been watching her, so maybe she’s with him. Why don’t you go there and get her? (Wife) ”Don’t kid around! I’m always with her!” She’s not that kind of girl! (Husband) ”Well, regardless of what you believe, what kind of young girl would ask a parent’s permission to see a boy? Just go and get her!” (Wife) ”I don’t know where she is” (Husband) ”Go and get her will you!” (Wife) ”Don’t be ridiculous husband! I hesitate to mention but I’m not her birth mother. She’s your ex-wife’s daughter. But she’s a sweet and kind girl. As a parent you’d like to buy her some small accessory you can afford. But you’ve never done that have you? She always wears tattered clothing. When you lose at dice you get angry and hit me, that’s too much for such a nice girl to bear. So maybe she went to the river and jumped in… Oh if it’s true… I will leave this house forever!” (Husband) ”You are too pessimistic! That’s why I don’t have any luck! If you leave… I’ll leave too.” (Wife) ”What are you talking about? It’s your house.” Just then a man came to the door… ”Hello! Excuse me!” (Husband) ”The door’s open, please come in!” (Man) “Hello sir…I haven’t seen you in a while.” (Husband) “I’m sorry…who are you again?” (Man) “You’ve forgotten about me? I am Tosuke of Sanozuchi.” (Husband) “Oh yeah right…Tosukedon!” (Man) “I came here on my mistress’s order.” (Husband) “Your mistress’s order?” (Man) “ Yeah…” (Husband) “I understand, but… I’ve got a lot of stuff to do at work...I can’t deal with it right now. It’s actually a bad time as our daughter is missing. She’s only 17 and my wife is making a fuss. I’m planning to go to the river to search for her. Umm… so could you tell your mistress that I might come the day after tomorrow or so… Please explain this situation to her will you?” (Man) “May I ask your daughter’s name? Is it Ohisa?” (Husband) “What? Yes, it’s Ohisa. How did you know? ” (Man) “Oh, well then don’t worry about her. She’s at our house.” (Husband) “Your house? What the hell…why?”
