Japan Answers 16: How do Japanese view Americans?
I asked some of my Japanese friends what they thought was unique about Americans and American culture. I picked a few items from their long list and compared these things to Japanese culture. Some of the things they mentioned I had never really realized. For example, I had never realized that the bathroom stall doors in public restrooms were different from the doors in Japan. I never thought much about the fact that Americans have a pizza delivery culture either. Well, it's kind of interesting to hear what Japanese people think about Americans. It's interesting to see your culture in the eyes of an outsider.

Lessons Learned: Japanese-American Internment During WWII
On February 19, 1942, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which began the process of interning Japanese-Americans due to the alleged threat they posed while the United States was at war with Japan. During the next four years, more than 100000 Japanese-Americans, most of them US citizens, would be removed from their homes, primarily along the Pacific coast, and relocated to inland camps. James M. Lindsay, CFR's senior vice president and director of studies, says the decision to intern many Japanese-Americans during the war demonstrates the difficulty of striking a balance between civil liberties and national security. In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, he argues, the United States was again faced with difficult decisions over limits to civil liberties. Americans learned from the mistakes of World War II, he says, and the experiences of Japanese-American internees should serve as a reminder of the danger of allowing national security to trump civil liberty. This video is part of Lessons Learned, a series exploring historical events and examining their meaning in the context of foreign relations today: www.youtube.com For more information on Japanese-American Internment During WWII and other topics visit James M. American-Japanese Veteran of WWII: Kazuo Fred Yamaguchi
It is ironic that while over 110000 Americans of Japanese descent were forced into internment camps during WWII, roughly 33000 other Americans of Japanese descent were actively serving in the US military. Our guest, Mr. Kazuo Yamaguchi was one of the roughly 6000 Americans of Japanese descent who served in the US Military Intelligence Service (MIS). We discuss the war, what it was like to return home after it ended and the fight to have the contributions of these service members recognized.

Community Champ Japanese American National Museum
The Japanese American National Museum of Los Angeles promotes understanding and appreciation of America's ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the Japanese American experience. By providing a voice for Japanese Americans and a forum for all people to explore their own heritage and cultures, the National Museum strives to strengthen our communities and increase respect among all people. At the core of the Museum is the principle that diversity and democracy are integrally related to each other—one cannot be adequately discussed or taught without the other.

Internment of Americans of Japanese Descent during WWII
Over 100000 Japanese Americans were put into "internment camps" during WWII, a crucial yet often overlooked part of US history. We are joined by Madeleine Sugimoto, whose family was sent to Camp Jerome; this segment also features the paintings of her father, Henry Y. Sugimoto, documenting life inside the camps. From "The Broader Implications of War," a series directed and co-produced by Gloria Messer for the Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Host and co-producer: Heather Wokusch.

Life in Japan: Sexy but Creepy Girls
Ok first off, I'M SORRY! This video is like 12 minutes long, which is freaken UNREAL! For those of you who actually watch this all the way through... wow, high-five because I'd lose interest in a video this long in about 3 minutes haha. Second, my Bro makes another cameo appearance in the background, so don't be surprised when he suddenly appears in a clip midway through the vid. And finally, this is a true story! It's the opposite of what happened with Ayano in my "Creeping out Girls" video, and was a funny change from what I was expecting. The girl, Naoko, was kind of a 'fanfreak', or American/Gaijin fanatic. You'll encounter people like this everywhere, and I just happened to come across a hot one while studying abroad. She was definitely a keeper if otherwise normal, and I'd prolly have tapped that, if you know what I mean (hahaha omg, but seriously...), except I didn't want little quickrhinos running around in Japan causing scenes and being gorgeous (since my half japanese/half american babies are going to be unbelievably attractive).
