Iain Robertson (born 27 May 1981) is a BAFTA award winning Scottish actor, once described by British film critic, Barry Norman, as "the best thing to come out of Scotland since whisky".
He portrayed Lex in cult Glasgow gang film, Small Faces, though Robertson is also known for his work in the long-running children's drama, Grange Hill and The Debt Collector, also starring comedian and actor Billy Connolly.
Robertson featured in Steven Spielberg's Band of Brothers and in recent years played "Gash" in the cult British comedy Rab C. Nesbitt.
Robertson grew up in a family of seven in a tenement in Govan, Glasgow. He held no thoughts of becoming an actor until he received a report from a primary school teacher, Mr O'Kane, stating: "this boy has a special aptitude for drama".
Robertson has said: "growing up in Govan put fire in my belly, made me push harder and also appreciate the things that have come my way".
At the age of 11, Robertson went on to join a local dramatic arts group. He set about producing his own play, co-written and directed by friends Leah Beattie, Kelly Mitchell, and John Rennie. Soon after, he won a scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.

A revolution in the understanding of brain function has happened over the last 20 years, where the old assumption that the adult brain could not be 'rewired' and that the only course after adolescence is a slow decline in mental functions. Ian Robertson, Professor of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin, describes how the brain at all ages can be sculpted by experience and how we can improve our mental functions in a similar way to that of developing our physical strength and skill. Ian Robertson's popular books on the subject are; Mind Sculpture (Bantam), the Mind's Eye (Bantam) and Stay Sharp (Ebury). ALCHEMIST CAFE DUBLIN Camera: Marek Bogacki Produced by DOCUMENTAVI 2008
