A police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a sovereign state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing.
Law enforcement, however, constitutes only part of policing activity. Policing has included an array of activities in different situations, but the predominant ones are concerned with the preservation of order. In some societies, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these developed within the context of maintaining the class system and the protection of private property. Many police forces suffer from police corruption to a greater or lesser degree. The police force is usually a public sector service, meaning they are paid through taxes.
El Centro is a city in and county seat of Imperial County, the largest city in the Imperial Valley, east anchor of the Southern California Border Region, and the core urban area and principal city of the El Centro metropolitan area which encompasses all of Imperial County. El Centro is also the largest American city to lie entirely below sea level (-39 feet). The city, located in the far southeastern corner of California, is near the major Southern California city of San Diego and the Mexican city of Mexicali.
Founded in 1906, W. F. Holt and C.A. Barker purchased the land on which El Centro was eventually built for about $40 an acre and invested $100,000 in improvements. As one historian of valley life put it, "in only five months El Centro went from a barley field to a city...". It is home to retail, transportation, wholesale, and agricultural industries. There are also two international border crossings nearby for commercial and noncommercial vehicles. The city's population was 42,598 at the 2010 census, up from 37,835 in 2000.
High Speed is a 1986 pinball game designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Williams Electronics. This game was based on Ritchie's real-life police chase inside a 1979 Porsche 928. He was finally caught in Lodi, California on Interstate 5 and accused of speeding at 146 mph.
During its design, High Speed was jokingly called "High Cost" by some rival Williams designers due to its then-high production cost. The advances in the mechanical design that went into High Speed, coupled with the machine's popularity, led to many machines being kept in service much longer than was previously the norm. The play surfaces of the machine were not initially given as much attention, leading to many High Speed machines seeing service to this day in extremely worn condition. Williams rapidly addressed this issue by making mylar playfield covers available and later adding hard clear paint coats to their playfields. Canadian specialist Classic Playfield Reproductions produced an officially licensed High Speed 13-color Reproduction Playfield, which shipped as limited edition in 2014.
Dyfed–Powys Police (Welsh: Heddlu Dyfed–Powys) is the territorial police force responsible for policing Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire (which make up Dyfed) and the county of Powys, in Wales. The territory it covers is the largest police area in England and Wales, and the second largest in the United Kingdom. The force's headquarters are located in the town of Carmarthen.
The force was formed in 1968, with the merger of the Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire Constabulary, Pembrokeshire Constabulary and the Mid Wales Constabulary.
The Dyfed–Powys region has over 350 miles of coastline and many remote rural communities – yet also a number of old industrial areas that are currently experiencing significant change and redevelopment.
Despite the size of the area, the population is under 500,000, although it is boosted each year with large tourist numbers. The small population is reflected in the number of employees; 1,183 full-time officers (of whom 905 are of the rank of Constable). The force currently have 167 Special Constables and 140 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). It is the third smallest police force in England and Wales, in terms of number of officers, after Warwickshire Police and the City of London Police.
When NYPD officer Michael Birch was summoned into a performance evaluation meeting with his commanding officer and a lieutenant one day in August 2012, he was expecting to hear more of what he’d heard in the past about the way he did his job: that he wasn’t generating enough “activity.” As an officer in the transit bureau, he says, that meant being told to issue more summonses for fare evasion, and arresting more people for stealing fellow straphangers’ cell phones... Quite simple. Man buys car, which is still insured by the previous owner on an "any driver" policy. UK insurance law states that a vehicle can only have 1 active policy at a time. No problem, the any driver policy covers that. But PC Sweeny can't grasp the concept that the person isn't insured, the vehicle is. But don't worry, with the assistance of 9 other police officers - I'm sure *someone* knows the law. Wait, no. They don't. Just tow the vehicle anyway... Learn the law police morons - how can they get away with this, on TV!?

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL -- An innocent Florida family was terrorized by police who broke into their bedroom at 10:30 PM on Tuesday and opened fire on their pet dogs. https://www.facebook.com/PoliceStateUSA Police were searching the area for a person of interest. Without any evidence or a warrant, they decided to climb into the home of Cristina Moses and her fiance Travis Nicholas, right through a bedroom window. The couple was awoken to the sound of intruders in their home -- at least six of them -- and were quickly dragged from their bedroom and into the hallway. Guns were aimed at them and they had boots placed on their backs. "The cops threw Cristina on the ground, cussing," Nicholas said. "It was obvious that I'm not armed because I'm in my boxers." Then the couple witnessed their...
No warning was given before Neenah, Wisconsin police shot and killed a hostage, then left him to die in an alley, a newly released dashcam video shows. Police originally said they had shouted warnings and dispatched an ambulance to help the man. Michael L. Funk, 60, was one of three men held hostage at Eagle Nation Cycles shop in Neenah on December 5 last year. The hostage-taker, identified as Brian T. Flatoff, opened fire on a team of five police officers who tried to storm the shop. Minutes later, Funk escaped from the building – only to be gunned down by the cops. Hours after the shooting, Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson said that Funk was shot after repeated warnings to drop his gun. Dashboard camera video from one of the police cars shows no such warning was given, and that Funk ...

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police officers in the California desert city of El Centro repeatedly ignored signs of medical distress in a man they suspected of being a drug dealer, even telling a 911 dispatcher to ignore calls from his family for help, according to a video released on a judge's order. Hours later, the man was dead from methamphetamine intoxication. The video released Thursday was taken by cameras worn by El Centro police officers who...
How the car insurers and police are screwing over innocent motorists in colluding over insurance details the companies fail to correct or amend, and the police acting above the law in ceasing legally insured cars. It is about time these motorists sued the police AND the insurer, teach this cozy cartel a lesson. I was made aware of this item on this show, so recorded it as I thought it important. I don't watch this BBC show. Recorded from BBC Watchdog, 07 October 2010.
CCTV shows the excruciating moment of this innocent man who has lost three fingers when Welsh Police slammed the cell door! This innocent 28-year-old, a self employed decorator had called for police assistance but got arrested, taken to the police station and was violently and totally stripped of his clothing and sustained very serious injuries by Welsh/Wales UK Police Force. He was later found not guilty in a Magistrates court of the false allegations of assaulting a police officer after he had three fingers chopped off in a cell door. (It is widely thought that these officers were over zealous, abusive, aggressive and as usual are over the top where accountability is non existent. The footage shows the victim, Jamie Clark, clearly in agony as the cell door is slammed shut and his finge...
