FORECAST IN DETAIL
This summer has been highlighted by quick-hitting heat episodes with nicer days in between. Today and tomorrow will be our respite this week as temperatures cool and humidity is considerably lower. It looks like the heat could really crank up this weekend, and although thunderstorms could provide periodic relief, highs in the upper 90s loom with very uncomfortable humidity.
Today (Tuesday): A stray shower or thundershower remains possible this morning through the rush hour period. Then partly to mostly sunny with lower humidity arriving as the dew points drop down into the 60s later this morning. Highs only top out in the upper 80s to low 90s. We still have a slight chance of a shower or storm later today, especially in areas south and southwest of the immediate metro area. Light breezes blow from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: High
Tonight: A few clouds hang around as temperatures descend toward more comfortable conditions with lower humidity. Lows range through the 60s by dawn with light breezes coming from the north. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Our best day of the week is right here in the middle. Skies are mostly sunny and humidity is low, with dew points in the mid-50s to low 60s. Temperatures are more comfortable in the middle to upper 80s (near to slightly below normal) with light breezes from the north. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy with just a little bit more humidity sneaking back into the area thanks to high pressure moving out into the Atlantic. Lows settle toward the upper 60s and lower 70s. Confidence: High
A LOOK AHEAD
Thursday starts to feel a bit more uncomfortable as humidity creeps up higher under mostly sunny summer skies. Highs are only around 90 degrees, so it isn’t too oppressive, but the heat index heads more toward the middle 90s. Mostly clear Thursday night with moderate humidity and lows in the upper 60s to middle 70s (muggiest right in the city). Confidence: Medium-High
Friday finds our hot and humid conditions back in full force as highs go into the middle 90s and humidity lifts heat indexes to near 100 degrees. Mostly clear but muggy Friday night with lows ranging in the 70s — maybe just near 80 degrees right in the city. Confidence: Medium-High
Saturday looks like a scorcher with highs in the middle to upper 90s with a few spots potentially hitting the century mark for the first time in four years. Heat indexes seem likely to climb above 100 thanks to high humidity. We’ll have a slight chance of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms to break up the heat a bit. Saturday is muggy under partly cloudy skies with very warm lows from the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Sunday currently looks like a mostly sunny and quite hot start. Afternoon clouds could keep temperatures from reaching the upper 90s again, but we’ll have to watch the timing. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms could also offer some relief from the heat. Confidence: Medium
