Late Night Alumni

Late Night Alumni is an American house group composed of Becky Jean Williams, John Hancock, Finn Bjarnson and Ryan Raddon (Kaskade). They are primarily known for mixing dance music with strings and soft trance-like vocals.

Biography

Finn Bjarnson stumbled upon Becky Jean Williams (sister to R. John Williams, the lead singer of Faded Paper Figures) in the summer of 2003. “I had just been given a local Christmas CD that I had produced a couple tracks for,” Finn recalls, “and as I was listening through the tracks, there she was! Her beautiful voice and style immediately struck me.” A couple of phone calls later and they were in the studio together for the first time. “I had worked up this song called ‘Empty Streets’ and wanted to try her voice out on it...” Finn continues, “and it took off from there!”

Finn had already been working in the studio with Ryan Raddon (aka Kaskade), and soon Finn, Ryan, and Becky formed Late Night Alumni. In 2004, Hed Kandi made an offer to license and release a full length Late Night Alumni album. “At that point,” Finn says, “I knew the band was not ready. We were missing an element.” That missing element turned out to be John Hancock, a talented local producer with whom Finn had been trying to “find an excuse” to work for years. The band was complete and hard at work at the debut Late Night Alumni album; mixing electronic and organic elements for a unique brand of chill that is easily distinguishable in today’s down tempo house music scene.

Empty Streets

Empty Streets is the debut album by the American house group Late Night Alumni, released through Hed Kandi Records. It was released physically in the UK on August 29, 2005.

The lead single from the album of the same name, "Empty Streets", was released in September 2005 and it features remixes by Haji & Emanuel, Kaskade and Aurora. The Haji & Emanuel remix was featured in Tiësto's compilation album In Search of Sunrise 5: Los Angeles (without crediting it as a remix) and, at the time, became one of the series' most downloaded tracks. Kaskade remade the song for his 2010 album Dynasty.

Seamus Haji (born 30 December 1968) is a British record producer, who had a number one on the UK Dance Chart, with a cover of Indeep's, "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life". He originally released this as a single in 2004. The single originally reached #69 on the UK Singles Chart, and #13 on re-issue in March 2007 and #1 on the UK Dance Chart.

He is of Irish and Indian descent. He has remixed many tracks by other artists, some of which have been promoted as the main version of the track in question. "Boogie 2nite" by Booty Luv, which reached number 2 on the UK chart, being one such track. Haji has worked with many of the biggest names in music, including Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Moby, Mika and most recently, Jamiroquai and Estelle.

He often produces in partnership with Paul Emanuel, and together they had a UK Singles Chart hit in 2005, with their cover of True Faith and Bridgette Grace with Final Cut's, "Take Me Away".
