ECW World Heavyweight Championship
The Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) World Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It was the original world title of the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, later used by WWE as the world title of the ECW brand, complementing the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship. The championship also briefly appeared as the only world title featured on the Raw brand in 2008. It was established under ECW in 1994 but was originally introduced in 1992 by the precursor to ECW, Eastern Championship Wrestling.
History
Origin
The ECW World Heavyweight Championship was introduced originally in 1992 as the NWA-ECW Heavyweight Championship with Jimmy Snuka becoming the inaugural champion on April 25. However, its origin is attributed to events that began in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), an organization with many member promotions. In the early 1990s, Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW) was a member of the NWA and by 1994, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the world title of the NWA, was vacant. Consequently, a tournament was organized to crown a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion and on August 27, NWA-ECW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas defeated 2 Cold Scorpio in the finals to win the title. However, Douglas immediately relinquished the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and instead proclaimed himself the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion. ECW subsequently seceded from the NWA and became Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). The ECW World Heavyweight Championship was thus established, spun off from the NWA title. It remained active until April 11, 2001 when ECW closed and World Wrestling Entertainment subsequently purchased its assets.

The Big Show Vs The Undertaker For the ECW Championship WWE The Great American Bash 2006 Full Match
The match that followed was ECW Champion The Big Show versus The Undertaker in the first-ever Punjabi Prison match. In order to win the match, one must escape both the inner and outer bamboo structures. On-screen, General Manager Theodore Long put Big Show in the match instead of Khali for attacking Undertaker backstage. In reality, Khali was not medically cleared to compete due to elevated levels of enzymes in his liver. Both Big Show and Undertaker managed to escape the inner structure. For the first time ever we will have four world title matches at the CAW Montage. Here is the first of them.
The Big Show was the reigning ECW champion throughout the build-up leading to the event. During several moments on Raw, the lights would go out and the 500 pound giant would always be found knocked out in the middle of the ring. After several of these attacks, Big Show called out his attackers......which turned out to be Sagat, who challenged him for his title and soundly defeated the giant to become the ECW champion.
Big Show would demand a rematch for his title, only for Sagat to turn him down constantly. He wanted the former champion to 'earn' his way to another match. Big Show tried but a squash by Lazaravich left the big man doubting himself and even more ridicule by Sagat. Feeling defeated, Big Show left for a period of time.
Sometime along the way, The Big Show returned. Only this time he was no longer the bald, older giant that he once was. He was back to his younger days. He had a full head of hair, was much healthier and he just dominated everyone that stood in his way. Big Show making quick work out of Mark Henry (who also came back on TV much younger than he's ever been) was enough to convince Sagat to grant Big Show his title shot.

For the first time ever we will have four world title matches at the CAW Montage. Here is the first of them.
The Big Show was the reigning ECW champion throughout the build-up leading to the event. During several moments on Raw, the lights would go out and the 500 pound giant would always be found knocked out in the middle of the ring. After several of these attacks, Big Show called out his attackers......which turned out to be Sagat, who challenged him for his title and soundly defeated the giant to become the ECW champion.
Big Show would demand a rematch for his title, only for Sagat to turn him down constantly. He wanted the former champion to 'earn' his way to another match. Big Show tried but a squash by Lazaravich left the big man doubting himself and even more ridicule by Sagat. Feeling defeated, Big Show left for a period of time.
Sometime along the way, The Big Show returned. Only this time he was no longer the bald, older giant that he once was. He was back to his younger days. He had a full head of hair, was much healthier and he just dominated everyone that stood in his way. Big Show making quick work out of Mark Henry (who also came back on TV much younger than he's ever been) was enough to convince Sagat to grant Big Show his title shot.
