Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is an "X-Car Coaster", a proprietary design from Maurer Söhne, and is considered the largest roller coaster of its kind in the world. Maurer Söhne expected the attraction to carry approximately 1,850 riders per hour.
In the attraction's queue line, video monitors entertain waiting guests. The programming is hosted by characters who introduce one of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit's signature components, its customizable soundtrack. Guests select a musical track from one of five genres—classic rock/metal, rap/hip-hop, country, pop/disco and club/electronica—to hear during their experience. Each genre has six songs available, bringing a total of 30 different tunes to the ride's on-board library. The songs will not be re-arranged to fit the roller coaster's design; however, the musical artists granted the ride's designers the ability to select when their songs started and stopped, in order to provide the best match to the ride.
During the development process, Universal officials surveyed guests to determine which songs should be made available on the attraction. Some of the songs considered included "Gone Country" by Alan Jackson, "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest, "All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow, "Pump It" by The Black Eyed Peas and "Staying Alive" by The BeeGees. Other artists whose songs were considered included The Beach Boys, Three Six Mafia and Johnny Cash. Universal officials are able to track the popularity of the selected songs, and have stated that special songs may be added from time to time.
The "choose-your-own-soundtrack" feature is similar to that on another Universal-owned roller coaster, Hollywood Dream: The Ride at sister park Universal Studios Japan. Taking this customization a step further, the ride experience will be filmed, allowing guests to obtain a digital copy of the film, complete with their chosen soundtrack, to add to their webpages or video-sharing sites, such as YouTube. The on-board cameras were designed to withstand a wide range of mechanical and environmental stresses.
A ride vehicle for "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit", traversing the first "loop" element. The vehicle uses Maurer Söhne's X-Car Coaster design.
The trains consist of two cars, with each car carrying six riders in three rows of two. The seats in each car are arranged in a stadium seating configuration, affording each seat a better view of the ride. Located in the safety restraint of each seat is a touch screen that is used to select the desired music for the ride. The speakers are located within the headrest of the seat, and have been designed such that only the rider's selected music track will be audible. Further, the rails and support columns are filled with sand and pea gravel, reducing the amount of ambient noise generated by the roller coaster.
The coloration and lighting of the ride track was selected to enhance the ride experience and to minimize the visibility of the track's support columns. The ride vehicles themselves feature color-changing LEDs for a dynamic appearance. Each train has its own display pattern, which itself will change as it passes through each major section of the ride's layout.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit includes a number of safety features. Unlike many modern steel roller coasters, its seats do not use over-the-shoulder harnesses; instead, there is a large padded lap bar. Louis Alfieri, the attraction's creative director, said, "the entire seat assembly is ergonomically designed so you're completely sandwiched and locked into the seat." Due to the lift hill's vertical construction, the ride provides a custom-designed evacuation system in the event a train become disabled.

DJ EZ (pronounced E-Zed) is a DJ from Tottenham, North London, specialising in UK garage music. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest DJs ever to grace the UK garage scene.[citation needed]
In 1989, at the age of 15, EZ (known at the time as Easy O) started his radio career on a pirate radio station called Dance 93FM playing House music, where he remained for 4 years. In early 1994, EZ set up his own pirate radio station based in Tottenham called Dimension FM, playing mostly Hardcore dance music, Rave music and House music. Dimension FM didn't last long due to being closed down by the authorities. EZ then landed himself a 4 hour Saturday and Sunday morning show from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm on another pirate station - Freek 101.8 FM (it was at this time that he changed his name from Easy O to EZ). As EZ started getting more well known he was given extra show time and was also made a member of the station's management team. DJ EZ then started his own weekly club night called Club Z at the Gas Club in central London. DJ bookings for EZ started to soar and he was playing an average of 4 clubs a night every weekend.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. (born September 27, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. At the age of nine, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo, The B.G.'z, with B.G.. In 1997, Lil Wayne joined the group Hot Boys, which also included rappers Juvenile, B.G., and Young Turk. Hot Boys debuted with Get It How U Live! that year. Lil Wayne gained most of his success with the group's major selling album Guerrilla Warfare, released in 1999. Also in 1999, Lil Wayne released his Platinum debut album Tha Block Is Hot, selling over one million copies in the U.S.
Although his next two albums Lights Out (2000) and 500 Degreez (2002) were not as successful (only reaching Gold status), Lil Wayne reached higher popularity in 2004 with Tha Carter, which included the single "Go D.J." Wayne also appeared on the Destiny's Child top ten single "Soldier" that year. In 2005, the sequel to Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, was released. In 2006 and 2007, Lil Wayne released several mixtapes and appeared on several popular rap and R&B singles. His most successful album, Tha Carter III, was released in 2008 and sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. its first week of release. It included the number-one single "Lollipop" featuring Static Major. It also includes the singles "A Milli" and "Got Money" featuring T-Pain and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

Check out this On-Ride HD POV of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Orlando Florida. Height: 167' Speed: 65 mph Type: Steel - Sit Down Status: Operating since 2009 Builder: Maurer Söhne Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is an "X-Car Coaster", a proprietary design from Maurer Söhne, and is considered the largest roller coaster of its kind in the world. Maurer Söhne expected the attraction to carry approximately 1,850 riders per hour. In the attraction's queue line, video monitors entertain waiting guests. The programming is hosted by characters who introduce one of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit's signature components, its customizable soundtrack. Guests select a musical track from one of five genres—classic rock/metal, rap/hip-hop, country, pop/disco and club/electronica—to hear during their experience. Each genre has six songs available, bringing a total of 30 different tunes to the ride's on-board library. The songs will not be re-arranged to fit the roller coaster's design; however, the musical artists granted the ride's designers the ability to select when their songs started and stopped, in order to provide the best match to the ride. During the development process, Universal officials surveyed guests to determine which songs should be made available on the attraction. Some of the songs considered included "Gone Country" by Alan Jackson, "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest, "All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow, "Pump It" by The Black Eyed Peas and "Staying Alive" by The BeeGees. Other artists whose songs were considered included The Beach Boys, Three Six Mafia and Johnny Cash. Universal officials are able to track the popularity of the selected songs, and have stated that special songs may be added from time to time. The "choose-your-own-soundtrack" feature is similar to that on another Universal-owned roller coaster, Hollywood Dream: The Ride at sister park Universal Studios Japan. Taking this customization a step further, the ride experience will be filmed, allowing guests to obtain a digital copy of the film, complete with their chosen soundtrack, to add to their webpages or video-sharing sites, such as YouTube. The on-board cameras were designed to withstand a wide range of mechanical and environmental stresses. A ride vehicle for "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit", traversing the first "loop" element. The vehicle uses Maurer Söhne's X-Car Coaster design. The trains consist of two cars, with each car carrying six riders in three rows of two. The seats in each car are arranged in a stadium seating configuration, affording each seat a better view of the ride. Located in the safety restraint of each seat is a touch screen that is used to select the desired music for the ride. The speakers are located within the headrest of the seat, and have been designed such that only the rider's selected music track will be audible. Further, the rails and support columns are filled with sand and pea gravel, reducing the amount of ambient noise generated by the roller coaster. The coloration and lighting of the ride track was selected to enhance the ride experience and to minimize the visibility of the track's support columns. The ride vehicles themselves feature color-changing LEDs for a dynamic appearance. Each train has its own display pattern, which itself will change as it passes through each major section of the ride's layout. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit includes a number of safety features. Unlike many modern steel roller coasters, its seats do not use over-the-shoulder harnesses; instead, there is a large padded lap bar. Louis Alfieri, the attraction's creative director, said, "the entire seat assembly is ergonomically designed so you're completely sandwiched and locked into the seat." Due to the lift hill's vertical construction, the ride provides a custom-designed evacuation system in the event a train become disabled. -

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is an "X-Car Coaster", a proprietary design from Maurer Söhne, and is considered the largest roller coaster of its kind in the world. Maurer Söhne expected the attraction to carry approximately 1,850 riders per hour.
In the attraction's queue line, video monitors entertain waiting guests. The programming is hosted by characters who introduce one of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit's signature components, its customizable soundtrack. Guests select a musical track from one of five genres—classic rock/metal, rap/hip-hop, country, pop/disco and club/electronica—to hear during their experience. Each genre has six songs available, bringing a total of 30 different tunes to the ride's on-board library. The songs will not be re-arranged to fit the roller coaster's design; however, the musical artists granted the ride's designers the ability to select when their songs started and stopped, in order to provide the best match to the ride.
During the development process, Universal officials surveyed guests to determine which songs should be made available on the attraction. Some of the songs considered included "Gone Country" by Alan Jackson, "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest, "All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow, "Pump It" by The Black Eyed Peas and "Staying Alive" by The BeeGees. Other artists whose songs were considered included The Beach Boys, Three Six Mafia and Johnny Cash. Universal officials are able to track the popularity of the selected songs, and have stated that special songs may be added from time to time.
The "choose-your-own-soundtrack" feature is similar to that on another Universal-owned roller coaster, Hollywood Dream: The Ride at sister park Universal Studios Japan. Taking this customization a step further, the ride experience will be filmed, allowing guests to obtain a digital copy of the film, complete with their chosen soundtrack, to add to their webpages or video-sharing sites, such as YouTube. The on-board cameras were designed to withstand a wide range of mechanical and environmental stresses.
A ride vehicle for "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit", traversing the first "loop" element. The vehicle uses Maurer Söhne's X-Car Coaster design.
The trains consist of two cars, with each car carrying six riders in three rows of two. The seats in each car are arranged in a stadium seating configuration, affording each seat a better view of the ride. Located in the safety restraint of each seat is a touch screen that is used to select the desired music for the ride. The speakers are located within the headrest of the seat, and have been designed such that only the rider's selected music track will be audible. Further, the rails and support columns are filled with sand and pea gravel, reducing the amount of ambient noise generated by the roller coaster.
The coloration and lighting of the ride track was selected to enhance the ride experience and to minimize the visibility of the track's support columns. The ride vehicles themselves feature color-changing LEDs for a dynamic appearance. Each train has its own display pattern, which itself will change as it passes through each major section of the ride's layout.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit includes a number of safety features. Unlike many modern steel roller coasters, its seats do not use over-the-shoulder harnesses; instead, there is a large padded lap bar. Louis Alfieri, the attraction's creative director, said, "the entire seat assembly is ergonomically designed so you're completely sandwiched and locked into the seat." Due to the lift hill's vertical construction, the ride provides a custom-designed evacuation system in the event a train become disabled.

This 1957 rock n' roll quickie is famous (or infamous) in cult movie circles for it's low budget charm, combined with a rare authentic look at then contemporary youth culture.
Unlike it's more slightly higher budgeted Hollywood contemporaries from Columbia Pictures ("Don't Knock The Rock"), or Warner Brothers ("Untamed Youth"), or even American International ("Shake, Rattle, And Rock"), "Rock Baby Rock It!" was independently produced in Dallas, Texas.
Instead of big names such as Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, or Little Richard, this gem featured local Texas talent in the way of blues singer Roscoe Gordon, vocal group the Five Stars, Everly Brothers sound-alikes The Belew Twins, Bill Haley-type combo The Cell Block Seven, and local Texas rockabilly legend, Johnny Carroll.
What makes these fine performers all the more exciting to watch here is the fact that, for the most part, they're performing their numbers live for the camera, and not lip synced.
Also of interest for retro fans is seeing real teenagers doing real teen dance styles on film, rather than the usual 30-something professionals doing Big Band-era lindy hop in most other (Hollywood) rock n' roll exploitation quickies.
Look for Kay Wheeler, president of the largest Elvis Presley fan club at the time, doing her rock n' bop routine. According to Alanna Nash's book "Baby Let's Play House", Ms. Wheeler's dancing actually influenced Elvis' hip shaking on stage. Whether true or not, you can definitely see the Elvis style in her dance routine to Johnny Carroll's "Sugar Baby."
A true time-capsule of a particular place in a particular moment in time, "Rock, Baby Rock It!" is a must-see for any fan of rockabilly or retro youth culture.

Lil Eazy-E Tears Up as He Recalls Final Moments with Father Before His Death
Eric Lynn Wright, Jr. - also known as Lil Eazy-E - had a lot to share with DJ Vlad as he detailed his life up until his father's untimely passing. The two shared an extremely close bond and Eazy-E's junior didn't hesitate when asked about their trips to Disneyland and the times he'd get approached in school due to his father's legacy. "Those things didn't dawn on to me 'til we were out in public and I [saw] people's reactions," he remembered. Eric Lynn Wright, Jr. - also known as Lil Eazy-E - had a lot to share with DJ Vlad as he detailed his life up until his father's untimely passing. The two shared an extremely close bond and Eazy-E's junior didn't hesitate when asked about their trips to Disneyland and the times he'd get approached in school due to his father's legacy. "Those things didn't dawn on to me 'til we were out in public and I [saw] people's reactions," he remembered.
Things took a grave turn in Lil Eazy-E's life after his grandmother informed him of his father being "sick like Magic Johnson." Him and the rest of Eazy's loved ones sat in the hospital for days as they watched him lose his ability to speak once fluid filled his lungs. "Then when he came out he went without talking to having tubes in his mouth and I went to see him and [it was] really more so just him kind of crying and me crying," he recalled while fighting back tears. "Couple of days later they tell me he died."
