I had some stuff to do for my PhD that didn't involve sitting at a desk so I thought I'd film it. Music created using Jukedeck - Create your own music at jukedeck.com The music's too loud in comparison with the talking isn't it? I'm sorry. If you're wearing headphones; brace yourselves. I'd re-upload it but it took 3 hours on my terrible internet so it is what it is. I'm really rambling now, I'm sorry. I don't know why you're still reading this to be honest. I should probably just stop typing but I feel like I've committed to a long paragraph now and I should keep going. How are you doing? You well? Great. That's probably long enough now isn't it. Yeah, I'll leave it there.
A look at the kind of activities that you will engage in as a PhD student at Cardiff School of Engineering.
PhD Student looks for a supervisor. Very Funny. :)
This project is dedicated to the graduate students of the world, especially those in biomedical science. Keep reaching for that rainbow. CMA, DXM, and AJR all contributed to the development and design of the project. CMA wrote the script. DXM and AJR reviewed the script for intellectual content and provided additions. DXM provided his likeness and feigned emotions onscreen as directed by CMA. AJR shot and edited the project. Funding was supplied by FML #1123581321 awarded to CMA, DXM, and AJR. The authors disclose that despite years of trying to cultivate lucrative conflicts of interest none of them have paid off in a meaningful way. It is the pinnacle of educational achievement: prestigious, exclusive, and monumental. Yet, what is so special about a PhD - is there even anything special about it? Aqyan gives insight into the life of a PhD student to see how and why people even tread down such a path. Aqyan Bhatti received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. He is working toward a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at UT Austin, where his research is focused on understanding and modeling the underlying physics in the operation of nanoscale solid-state electronic devices. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Living Science students surprised Dr Sopory by seeking his frank opinion general problems faced in research during PhD. Students also asked why is that in general in research more weight is given to the work experience than to teaching experience.
Blog: http://jameshaytonphd.com Book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0993174108 There is no shortage of PhD advice out there; how to be more organised, how to procrastinate less, how to sort your data and so on... And yet there is no shortage of stressed PhD students either. Is the advice flawed? Or are the students just not working hard enough? Neither; the problem is that the advice generally given consists of tactics, while most students are still trying to figure out the rules of the game. If you don't know how the system works or what you have to achieve, then being more organised or working harder simply won't work... you'll just end up going insane! In this talk, you will learn the fundamental principles every PhD student needs to know in order to succeed.

I thought it would be fun to document a typical day in my life. It's busy, often times I don't get to meet every single thing I set out to achieve that day but I can't complain. It's my life and I'm finally at a point in my life where I can say I'm loving it!

It's a jubilee year for Dalarna University and its Solar Energy Research and Master's Programme in Solar Energy Engineering. The Solar Energy Research Center (SERC) was established at Dalarna University in 1984. Since then, it has developed from being a specialist in the field of solar thermal technology to a specialist in complete energy systems.
When seeking funding for the 4-6 years of your doctoral studies, it is ideal to be accepted to programs offering full funding to all admitted students. When a university indicates that they provide full funding to their PhD students, in most cases this means they provide each admitted doctoral student full tuition and a stipend for living expenses for the four to six year duration of the student's doctoral studies. Not all universities provide full funding to their doctoral students, so be sure to research the financial aid offerings of all the potential PhD programs in your academic field, including small and lesser-known schools both in the U.S. and abroad.
