June Diane Raphael (RAY-feel; born January 4, 1980) is an American actress, comedian, and screenwriter best known for starring in comedy programs such as Burning Love, Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV:: and currently in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Notable film work includes supporting roles in Year One and Unfinished Business, as well as her 2013 Sundance film Ass Backwards, which she co-wrote and starred in with her creative partner Casey Wilson. She also co-hosts the popular movie discussion podcast How Did This Get Made? alongside Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas.
Raphael was born and raised in Rockville Centre, New York, to Diane and John Raphael, where she graduated from South Side High School in 1998. She is of partial Irish descent and raised Catholic. She has two older sisters, Lauren and Deanna.
Raphael attended New York University (NYU), where she studied acting at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. After graduating from NYU in 2002, Raphael and her best friend from college, Casey Wilson, studied improvisational comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City, where they would eventually run their two-woman sketch show for a number of years. Performing the long-running stage show opened doors for them as writers. After performing the show at the "U.S. Comedy Arts Festival" in 2005, they were hired by New Regency Pictures to write the film Bride Wars and landed a development deal with UPN to create a sitcom pilot.
Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (Italian: [raffaˈɛllo ˈsantsjo da urˈbiːno]; April 6 or March 28, 1483 – April 6, 1520), known as Raphael (/ˈræfeɪəl/, US /ˈræfiəl, ˌrɑːfaɪˈɛl/), was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. His work is admired for its clarity of form, ease of composition, and visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human grandeur. Together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, he forms the traditional trinity of great masters of that period.
Raphael was enormously productive, running an unusually large workshop and, despite his death at 37, leaving a large body of work. Many of his works are found in the Vatican Palace, where the frescoed Raphael Rooms were the central, and the largest, work of his career. The best known work is The School of Athens in the Vatican Stanza della Segnatura. After his early years in Rome much of his work was executed by his workshop from his drawings, with considerable loss of quality. He was extremely influential in his lifetime, though outside Rome his work was mostly known from his collaborative printmaking. After his death, the influence of his great rival Michelangelo was more widespread until the 18th and 19th centuries, when Raphael's more serene and harmonious qualities were again regarded as the highest models. His career falls naturally into three phases and three styles, first described by Giorgio Vasari: his early years in Umbria, then a period of about four years (1504–1508) absorbing the artistic traditions of Florence, followed by his last hectic and triumphant twelve years in Rome, working for two Popes and their close associates.
Paul Christian Scheer (born January 31, 1976) is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, director, and podcaster.
Scheer currently stars on the FX series The League, the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, and Hulu comedy series The Hotwives, which he also executive produces. His recent project Crash Test was a fully improvised comedy special on a moving bus that was released exclusively on Vimeo and starred Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Corddry, Earl Sweatshirt, Jack McBrayer and more. His recent films include supporting roles in the Nicolas Cage film Army of One, as well as Opening Night, Daddy's Home, and Hell & Back. He starred in two web series web series for JASH Scheer-RL which recreated classic moments from MTV's TRL and The Arscheerio Paul Show, which recreated classic moments from the Arsenio Hall Show and was dubbed 2013's best viral video of the year by USA Today. He also hosts the popular movie discussion podcast How Did This Get Made? alongside his wife June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas. Scheer also hosted the absurdist podcast mini-series The Sylvester Stallone Podcast, which Stallone never appeared on. In 2014, Scheer co-founded the Wolfpop podcast network which is a sister network to Earwolf.
Cathryn Rose "Casey" Wilson (born October 24, 1980) is an American actress, comedian, and screenwriter, best known for starring as Penny Hartz in the ABC comedy series Happy Endings and currently stars in Hulu's reality TV parody series The Hotwives. Other notable work includes starring in NBC's short-lived sitcom Marry Me, playing a supporting role as Noelle Hawthorne in the 2014 film adaption of Gone Girl, and her 2013 Sundance film Ass Backwards, which she co-wrote and starred in with her creative partner June Diane Raphael. In 2015, Wilson and Danielle Schneider started the Earwolf podcast Bitch Sesh, where they discuss the latest episodes of The Real Housewives.
Wilson made her first major television appearances with a two-season stint as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2009.
Casey Wilson was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, along with her younger brother, Fletcher, a medical device engineer. She graduated from T. C. Williams High School in 1998 and studied theater at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, where she was a recipient of NYU's "Excellence in Acting" award when graduating in 2002. She is of Irish and Italian heritage and was raised Baptist.
"Burning Love" is a song written by Dennis Linde and originally recorded by country soul artist Arthur Alexander, who included it on his 1972 self-titled album. It was soon covered and brought to fame by Elvis Presley, becoming his biggest hit single in the United States since "Suspicious Minds" in 1969 and his last Top 10 hit in the American Hot 100 or pop charts.
Elvis Presley's cover version became much more popular than the original version, and was released as a single on August 1, 1972, with the B-side "It's a Matter of Time", and it reached the Top 40 on the country charts, peaking at #36. Elvis had recorded it at RCA's Hollywood studios on March 28, 1972. The electric guitar opening and riffs were overdubbed and played by Dennis Linde himself.
For the week of October 21, 1972, "Burning Love" rose to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, being kept from #1 by Chuck Berry's novelty song "My Ding-a-Ling." However, it reached #1 on Cashbox's Top 40 Charts for the week of November 11, which gave him 20 US #1 hits. The song was Elvis's 40th and last Top Ten hit on the US charts. It was also one of the last real rock songs in the last years of his life; from 1972 to 1977 the majority of his songs were ballads, and many of those placed on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart. "Burning Love" was one of the few exceptions, along with "Promised Land" in 1974.
