"What Else Is There?" is the third single from the Norwegian duo Röyksopp's second album The Understanding. It features the vocals of Karin Dreijer Andersson from the electronica duo The Knife. The album was released in the UK with the help of Astralwerks.

The single was used in an O2 television advertisement in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia during 2008. It was also used in the 2006 film Cashback and the 2007 film, Meet Bill. Trentemøller's remix of "What Else is There" was featured in an episode of the popular HBO TV show Entourage.

The song was listed as the 375th best song of the 2000's by Pitchfork Media .

The single was officially released on 5 December 2005 in the UK. The single had a limited release on 21 November 2005 to promote the upcoming album. On the UK Singles Chart, it placed at #32 and reached #1 on the British Dance Chart. "What Else Is There?" also spawned noted remixes from Vitalic, Trentemøller and Thin White Duke a.k.a. Stuart Price.

Music video

The music video was directed by Martin de Thurah, the CADS Music Vision Award winner for the best new Director. The video features model Marianne Schröder with a cameo by Karin Dreijer Andersson. In the video it is Schröder who is depicted to be performing the song, not Dreijer.

Movie spots

The song is also featured in the movie Meet Bill as characters played by Jessica Alba and Aaron Eckhart smoke marijuana while listening to it. It is also part of the end credits music of the film Cashback.

Karin Elisabeth Dreijer Andersson (born 7 April 1975 in Nacka, Sweden)

Solo work

While The Knife was on hiatus, Andersson released her solo debut album under the title Fever Ray in March 2009 via Rabid Records in Europe and in January 2009 by Mute Records in North America. "If I Had a Heart", the first single of the album, was released digitally on 15 December 2008. The self-titled album Fever Ray was released digitally via Rabid Records on 13 January 2009.

In 2009 the collection of feminist pornographic shorts Dirty Diaries was released with a soundtrack composed by Andersson. In a review of the collection in Swedish newspaper Smålandsposten it was described as appropriate to the film, though repetitive.

Andersson performed as "Fever Ray" at the 2010 Coachella Festival and received positive reviews. She performed at Electric Picnic 2010 and Bestival 2010 in September.

Contrary to a statement from the film's director, Andersson will not be making a cameo in the 2011 film Red Riding Hood. However, the soundtrack will feature an exclusive track which Andersson co-wrote with her band.

Collaborations

In 2005, Andersson supplied vocals on the track "What Else Is There?" by Röyksopp on the album The Understanding. She also appeared in the video for that single, but not as the vocalist, which was played by a model. In 2008, Andersson provided vocals for the dEUS song "Slow" from the band's Vantage Point album. Andersson was featured in the tracks "This Must Be It" and "Tricky Tricky" again by Röyksopp, appearing on the album Junior released in 2009.

Anders Trentemøller () is a Danish electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

History

Born in Vordingborg in the Zealand region of Denmark, Trentemøller started out with a number of single productions. In 2006 he released his debut album, The Last Resort.

In the summer of 2008 Trentemøller started a live tour: 'Trentemøller Live in Concert’. Trentemøller and band (Henrik Vibskov on drums and Mikael Simpson (guitar/bass) performed tracks from the album The Last Resort live on stage, with visuals provided by video director Karim Ghahwagi. The tour included festivals in Glastonbury (UK), Melt (Germany), Lowlands (Netherlands) and Roskilde (Denmark), and was followed by Trentemøller's first concerts in the United States.

His Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 was voted Essential Mix of the Year by listeners in 2006.

In 2008 he composed the soundtrack for the Danish movie Det Som Ingen Ved (What No One Knows).

The song "Vamp" from The Last Resort is featured in Eastbound & Down: Chapter 2 during a dance scene.

In 2010 he released his second album, Into the Great Wide Yonder.
