The idea was to expose people to more of the basic songwriting and lyrical elements of 'Borderland' while also showing off the production ideas that we just couldn't fit on the original release. We recorded so many beautiful parts, like clarinet, cello, and vibes that we couldn't use on the first round, so 'The Borderland Sessions' gave us an opportunity to share those special elements. Until recently, he was living in a small urban monastery in Montreal Quebec. He has been a "spiritual seeker" during all those years, practicing in the Christian mystical/contemplative Tradition and working deeply with teachers in both the Vipassana and Zen Traditions as well. In 2010 he experienced a profound perceptual "shift" in which he realized the ever-present presence of pure Awareness, which some would call, the Presence of God.He has worked in the field of Spiritual Care in Parish Communities and with the sick and dying in Hospice and Hospital settings. He has led retreats, offered spiritual talks and has accompanied many on their spiritual journey. He graduated from the Pontifical College Josephinum with a BA in Philosophy and completed a two year chaplaincy residency with Ohio Health Hospital system.Francis' forthcoming book, to be published by Non-Duality Press, is entitled "I Am That I Am -- Discovering the love, peace, joy and stability of the True Self".You may contact Francis by email, Skype (francisdale3), his Facebook page, or through his website. A single unexpected moment in John Mark's mid 20'sleft him with a vast and dark sense of emptiness. He would spend the next 15 years immersed in feverish worldly activity, trying in vain to fill this emptiness. His "normal" life of businessman, husband, and father had all the hallmarks of great success. But finally, in 2007, he was compelled by some greater force to sell his business and begin the inward search for the peace and happiness that had always eluded him. Almost immediately he was swept up in a tidal wave of Grace. For a man used to control and responsibility, it was particularly unsettling that these miracles began to move and direct his life into uncharted waters. In 2009, he was guided to "A Course in Miracles". Instinctively, he knew this was what he had been searching for. It was as though it had been written just for him. The Course in Miracles led him to the direct experience of God's limitless Love and Peace. That experience of Awakening from the dream of separation to the ever present, perfect awareness of God finally brought the causeless Joy and eternal Happiness for which John Mark sought. With great Joy, he now shares that Limitless Love with all as One.

Huffington Post 2015-03-10John Mark is a character in the New Testament. According to William Lane, an "unbroken tradition" identifies him with Mark the Evangelist. John Mark is mentioned several times in the Acts of the Apostles. The first mention is in Acts 12:12, when Peter is coming to his mother's house:
When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
John Mark himself appears a bit later in the same chapter, in Acts 12:25, as the travel companion of Saul (Apostle Paul) and Barnabas:
When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.
John Mark is mentioned soon after the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15:37-41. Paul (Saul) does not have a too flattering impression of his former associate, arguing over him with Barnabas in Antioch:
Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
All day long
We are sinking just like stones
Into the shadow of your kindness
In this shade
Between the wingspan of your face is
The only place
Where we can bed these burdens down
so I
Lift my eyes up to the hills
Who is gonna help me now
You’re my only
You’re my only
You’re my only hope
Tangled up
In the great ridiculous
Way you love
it is the only way to live
There’s no escape
When you look at me that way
Staring like a deer into the headlights of your praises
Lift my eyes up to the hills
Who is gonna help me now
You’re my only
You’re my only
You’re my only hope
You’re my only
You’re my only
You’re my only hope
And you come like the sun
With pockets full of redemption
And you come
With the sun
With the sun
And you come like the sun
With pockets full of redemption
And you come
With the sun
With the sun
With the sun
With the sun
With the sun
With the sun
With the sun
Would you save me for a song
If the music was where we'd meet
Would you save another dance for me
Would you save my soul
For the chance that I could know you now
For the chance that I could know you now
I would bury my pride in the ground
If I'm running then I don't know how
I'm ever going to get back home
I just want touch you
I just want to make you move
I can't get over you
The way you slide into the room
Would you save me for a song
If I didn't have the words to say
Would you listen to me anyway
Would you help me out
I just want touch you
I just want to make you move
I can't get over you
There is a lion
Coming into London Town
Walking on the promenade
Standing in the underground
He's not afraid of the rain, the pain
Things are going to change
I can feel it in my veins
He's not afraid of the rain, the pain
Things are going to change
I can feel it now
He is the glimmer of hope to the all alone
He is the voice of reason on the telephone' He plays
bigger shows than the Rolling Stones
But he wont let you down
Somebody cut the lights on
In the city where the sun doesn't shine
He's gonna take you for a ride
Down the Piccadilly line
He's not afraid of the rain, the pain
Things are going to change
I can feel it in my veins
He's not afraid of the rain, the pain
Things are going to change
I can feel it now
He is the hand of justice to the innocent
He's not the Judge he's not the jury
He's the evidence
I dreamed I kissed your feet
Between the cigarette butts
On the side of fourteenth street
I got down on my hands and my knees
With an alabaster jar
I dreamed I'd bleed with your praises
Just to make the world
Smell like your grace again
I got down on my hands and my knees again
And I'm crawling on the floor
Just to find you now
To tell you how I feel I'm falling all over myself
Good morning brokeness
You know you've cut me to the bone
Like one of those days in the middle of the winter
The kind that you can't run away from
And we've been here for so long
But I found a way to appease you
Inside this alabaster jar
And I'm crawling on the floor
Just to find you now
To tell you how I feel I'm falling all over myself
And all my afflictions
I wanna sing like the stars
In Job 38 when
All the sons of God shouted for joy
I wanna burn like the bush
And not be consumed
So bright the nations would take off their shoes
Take off their shoes
[Pre-Chorus]
I wanna shine with the glory of an unveiled face
I wanna radiate with the fire of You
I wanna shout from the roof when I'm here in the dark
I wanna be dangerous with the truth
[Chorus]
And I will be your lamp
If you will pour the oil
If you light the incense
I will be your censor
I will be your tabernacle
If you will be my art
I will be your body
If you will be my heart
I wanna watch the darkness run
I wanna step like a torch into the night
A city on a hill cannot hide
Who can hide this light?
This light
I was born to shine
I was born to shine
Deep inside me there's this burning that just won't let
me go
You are my fire, You are my rightesnous, You are my
rock and roll
I wish I could fit you down inside my chest, God
I wish that I could swallow you whole
I'd wrap you up in a blanket of my skin and you could
call my body home
Cause I am a temple
I am temple
My body is a temple
I am a temple
I am a temple
I am a temple
My body is a temple
I am a temple
So what if I'm not worthy?
So what if I'm not worthy?
You have made me clean!
Well, I can't get over how quickly you recover the
pieces of my heart as they shatter
Cause in your hands I am more than just a brand new man
And all my falling down now, well, it just don't matter
I am a temple
I am a temple
My body is a temple
I am a temple
I am a temple
I am a temple
My body is a temple
I am a temple
So what if I'm not worthy?
So what if I'm not worthy?
So what if I'm not worth?
Verse 1:
He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
Pre-Chorus:
And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us so
Chorus 1:
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Verse 2:
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And the heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…
Chorus 2:
He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
*Verse 3:
Well, I thought about You the day Stephen died,
And You met me between my breaking.
I know that I still love You, God, despite the agony.
...They want to tell me You're cruel,
But if Stephen could sing, he'd say it's not true,
cause...
Chorus 3:
Cause He loves us,
Oh how He loves us.
Oh how He loves us.
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Dress us up in your righteousness
Bring us in with a ring and a kiss
When you walk into the room you know we can't resist
Every bottle of perfume always ends up on the floor in
a mess
You make us sparkle and you make us shine
Like the stars who sing on your chorus line
Through space and time we'll harmonize
Where deep meets deep like the ocean meets the sky
The sun and the moon
They come out of their grave just for you
The dead man and the cynical too
They're coming out of their grave
And it's just for you
Cause the love of God is stronger
The love of God is stronger
The love of God is stronger
Than the power of death
Dress us up in the blood of a son
Who opened up his veins so that we would overcome
Hell and the grave in the power of his love
After three dark days he showed us how it's done
And he still does
You make us sparkle and you make us shine
Like the stars who sing on your chorus line
Through space and time we'll harmonize
Where deep meets deep like the ocean meets the sky
Yeah
The sun and the moon
They come out of their grave just for you
The dead man and the cynical too
They're coming out of their grave
And it's just for you
Cause the love of God is stronger
The love of God is stronger
The love of God is stronger
Than the power of death
His love is stronger, his love is stronger, his love is
stronger, his love is stronger
His love is stronger, his love is stronger, his love is
Though the Earth Cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Her billows calmed on raging seas
for the souls on men she craved
Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
disfigured and disdained
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
So three days in darkness slept
The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throes of death
And over turn his rule
Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke holding keys
To Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
He has cheated
Hell and seated
Us above the fall
In desperate places
He paid our wages
Come closer, closer to me.
Find me broken, find me bleedin'
cause I need more now than a fairy tale,
a god who lives in a book.
I need someone real.
So would you come?
Would you come?
If i begged you, would you come closer to me now?
Come closer, closer to me.
Find me broken, find me on my knees,
cause I need more now than philosophy.
Some god in outer space doesn't mean anything to me.
So would you come?
Would you come?
If I begged you, would you come closer to me now?
Would you come?
Would you come?
If i begged you, would you come closer to me now?
Son of David, do not pass me by,
cause I am naked,
I'm poor and I'm blind.
Son of david, don't pass me by,
cause I am naked,
Hey girl let's go down
Wash our hands
In the carolina tide
Let's go down and die
And come back like babies
Hey girl let's go down
Wash our sins
In the muddy brown wave
Wash the world away
And come back again
All these scarlet stains
Like the blood red clay
On the knees of our jeans
You can come out righteous
If you want babe
You can come out clean
Hey girl drive all night
Down to the water
And live like we're alive
Let our sleeping die
And roll out of these graves
Hey girl the water don't know
The shore don't care
Who you were before
We're not them anymore
You know we're not the same
All these scarlet stains
Like the blood red clay
On the knees of our jeans
You can come out righteous
If you want babe
You can come out clean
Hey girl let's go down
Wash our hands
In the carolina tide
Let's go down and die
And come back like babies
Hey girl let's go down
Wash our sins
In the muddy brown wave
Wash the world away
I feel like I've been walking in my sleep
Digging trenches in the pavement
With the soles of my feet
And I feel like I've been running on gasoline
I was so cold before I met you
I was as cold as a machine
So wont you stay
Stay with me now
The cynical people
Of the world can drown
In a wake of your kindness
Beneath the weight of your grace
Its more than I can take
And just walk away
I feel like I've been walking in my sleep
Chasing shadows, throwing punches
Like stones into the sea
So tell me haven't I been breathing all these years
Was I a ghost before I met you
Or was I even real
So wont you stay
Stay with me now
The cynical people
Of the world can drown
In a wake of your kindness
Beneath the weight of your grace
Its more than I can take
With our you I'm just
Water and dust
A disaster a face and a name
Who am I kidding
With out you I'm nothing at all
You catch when I fall
You return all my calls
And your never not around
When I need you
And I always do
On my own
I m more than just alone
I'm colder than religion
I'm colder than stone
With out you I'm
Another waist of time
Like words that only rhyme
But aren't making any sense
Can I get next to you now
Can I lean on your perfection
Can lean on you now
Can I get next to you now
I cant breath with out you any more
With out you I'm left
With just rocks in my chest
Aches and pains that will not recess
The worst is
With out you I've got nothing left to say
You sweeten my days with that light amber haze
And you never could get away
When I need you
And I always need you
On my own
I m more than just alone
I'm colder than religion
I'm colder than stone
With out you I'm
Another waist of time
Like words that only rhyme
But aren't making any sense
Can I get next to you now
Can I lean on your perfection
Can lean on you now
Can I get next to you now
Six round in the hands of a killer
I am dangerous in your arms
We are the midnight city siren
On the back of wisdom
Crying against the wasteland boulevard
I am
I mean
You are with me
Well
We are
Ominous tonight
Six strings in the hands of a poet
I am poetry in your eyes
So light me up with a song
Stain the sky with my burning
And I will not apologize
Who's gonna cry if I won't?
Who's gonna shine if I don't?
Who's gonna bring it down?
Where is the hope in this
Crowd of indifferent
Where is the truth
If it's not in my mouth
I am
I mean
You are with me
Well
We are
Ominous tonight
Six a.m. in the hands of the morning
I am a skyline
You are the sun
Deep between our meeting
The heavens are receeding
and the stars fade one by one
I am
I mean
You are with me
Well
We are
All my skin like porcelain
Crack beneath the pressure of your hands again
I guess I've been thinking that its been to long
Sense I fell down hard
And bled my heart all over you
But maybe I never recovered from the last one
What if I could be
Something more than me
They say that I got a disease
Of the human kind
Maybe all I know is
In your arms and in your eyes
I'm more than alive
Well all I have to say
About these serious days
And the condition of my heart
Is there both still as much a mystery to me
And they both get so hard
When I forget what its like just to die in your eyes
And when I live just to live n your arms
Well they say that a man can never go home
But I just can't get out of your front yard
What if I could be
Something more than me
They say that I got a disease
Of the human kind
Maybe all I know is
In your arms and in your eyes
Ten thousand glimmering like coals in our chest
Ball bearings drawn to the magnetic breath
Of ten thousand weeping with wings on their tears
Amidst ten thousand voices for ten thousand years
For ten thousand graves yawning unlocked and unlatched
Now ten thousand holes with rocks on their backs
Ten thousand tombs gaping wide singing the praise
Of ten thousand bodies unlaced and unlaid
As the ten thousand highways unfold their doors
For the ten thousand standing on Nineveh's shores
Where the blood of a husband silences wars
For the girl who rises to meet him
And she sings
World, I have overcome you
World, I have overcome you
World, I have overcome
By my song and the blood of a son
Ten thousand rivers
Run red like my veins
Where the bones of men hum
Like a rattling cage
For sinew to cling to
And wind to remain
In ten thousand lungs
For ten thousand days
Breathing like a choir
Of holes in the ground
Where the cynical have lain
Where the cynical go down
Save the gravity of time
Lets go of her drowned
Like ten thousand sparrows
Unlocked and unwound
As the ten thousand highways unfold their doors
For the ten thousand standing on Nineveh's shores
Where the blood of a husband silences wars
For the girl who rises to meet him
And she sings
World, I have overcome you
World, I have overcome you
World, I have overcome
You and I meet
On the shores of the broken
You swallow the ocean
I Swallow my pride
Only to see
The way that I need you
Is more than I knew
I ever could
In between the ashes and the flames
Is a cry an awkward silence
Could never contain
And the falling of my hammers
And the writhing of my pain
Is just not as real as the way
That your calling my name
I cant help thinking
That the way that you want me
And the ghost that haunts me
Are one and the same
Cause you stand at my window
At night wile I'm sleeping
There's not a promise I'm keeping
That could ever repay you
In between the ashes and the flames
There's a song that burns brighter
Than Radio waves
Bout the remnants of my Idols
And the shadow of my shame
About how they scatter like the rain and I can't stop
crying
Cause you wont stop calling my name
All our sins are stones
At the bottom of your oceans
And all our filthy stains
Have been washed away
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
The grave
Recompense is made for
The guilty and the shamed
For eternity is gained
In the arms of the slain
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
The grave
Oh my soul
Praise him
Oh my soul
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
By the blood of a son
I have overcome the grave
The grave
Oh my soul
Praise him
Peel back our ribs again
and stand inside of our chest.
We just wanna' love you
We just wanna' love you
Peel back the veil of time
And let us see You with our naked eyes
We just wanna' love you
We just wanna' love you
We want your blood to flow inside our body
We want your wind inside our lungs
We just wanna' love you
We just wanna' love you
Skeleton bones stand at the sound of eternity
On the lips of the found
And gravestones roll
To the rhythm of the sound of you
Skeleton bones stand at the sound of eternity
On the lips of the found
So separate those doors
And let the son of resurrection in.
Oh let us adore the
Son of Glory drenched in love
Open up your gates before him
The Lions in the street bend their heads
For the reckoning day
Cause the interstate's giving up her dead
For the reckoning day
Would you come alive everybody
Would you come alive everyone
Get up out of bed for the sound of the song unsung
Bury all your guns in the sand
Cause the temperature's changed
and the blood shot eye of the sun
stains the bones of the slain
Would you come alive everybody
Would you come alive everyone
Get up out of bed for the sound of the song unsung
The hour's gonna take you apart
On the reckoning day
If the property lines of your heart
Are drawn in the clay
Would you come alive everybody
Would you come alive everyone
Get up out of bed for the sound of the song unsung
The tide water's taxing the shores
of the washing away
The flood stands high at your doors
of the houses you made
Would you come alive everybody
Would you come alive everyone
Get up out of bed for the sound of the song unsung
Lift up your head
Oh you gate
Lift up your eyes
All you who wait
Daughter and son
Ashes and dust
Dance the dance
We call living and dying
In the valley of the city
in the belly of the lion
Work all week long
All week long
You can lose your soul
In the concrete riverbeds
Rolling with the flow
Of the currents of the walking deads
Five comes and you're a rolling stone
Days like these
We've got nothing to sing about
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Day like these
Who would've known
Days like these
I've got nothing to sing about
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Day like these
Who would've known
Listen to the rhythm
Of the pawn shop shore
Got you falling off your hinges
Like that old screen porch
It's the interstate slipping in your pores again
You can ride the vein
From the corner store to Amsterdam
You can bleed the train
From the courthouse to the Vatican
But Friday she's a ghost
And gonna slip right through your hands again
Days like these
I've got nothing to sing about
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Day like these
Who would've known
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Days like these
I've got nothing to sing about
Days like these
Who would've known
So dance the dance
We call living and dying
In the valley of the city
in the belly of the lion
We work all week long
All week long
You can lose your soul
In the concrete riverbeds
Rolling with the flow
Of the currents of the walking deads
Five comes and you're a rolling stone
Days like these
I've got nothing to sing about
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Day like these
Who would've known
Days like these
I don't know what I think about
Days like these
I've got nothing to sing about
Day like these
I'm making plans to waist my life on you
I'm making plans to waist my life on you
Cause New York City and Hollywood combined
They ain't got enough lights
To make me want change my mind about you
Cause I'm breaking down
I don't even care if there's anyone else around
Cause I'm breaking down
I always fall to pieces whenever your around
I'm Mary Magdalene and tonight is a bottle of perfume
I'm Mary Magdalene and tonight is a bottle of perfume
There's not enough dignity to hold me now
When I know your going to meet me here
There's not enough gravity
To keep me away from you
Cause I'm breaking down
I don't even care if there's anyone else around
Cause I'm breaking down
I always fall to pieces whenever your around
So meet me here
Where we shine like gold
Like the light beneath the embers
Of the burning colas
And I will spill my bottle
Like in days of old
When everything's said and dome
Your all I really have
In the midst of these setting suns
The city lights at best
Are portraits of my friends
But they don't make amends
For this ridiculous mess
So I will float on
Every word you said
When the water of my ghosts
They rise above my head
And I will stand up on your back
In the middle of this sea
When collectors of my debts
They come to sink there teeth
And its all I can think about now
Is how good you are to me
This body is a hole
My flesh one shallow grave
I am six feet below myself
And at my best
I still deserve to die
But I'll be glorified
In this ridiculous mess
So I will float on
Every word you said
When the water of my ghosts
They rise above my head
And I will stand up on your back
In the middle of this sea
When collectors of my debts
They come to sink there teeth
And its all I can think about now
We could be reveling
Forever in the love you bring
And we could be wasted on
You and not count it lost
Like fools in love
We’re bound to make a scene
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed, our hearts bleed
For you
We could burn down the days
Inside the light of your face
And we could throw the years away
And not regret the price we paid
Like fools in love
We’re bound to make a scene
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed, our hearts bleed
For you
You have loved alive the dead and gone
And filled our thirsty veins with blood and song
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed for you, oh
Our hearts bleed, our hearts bleed
You set us up above all the stars
You set us on a high place by where you are
While we were dead you made us your friends
And scattered our debt upon the wind
Glory to One
God’s murdered son
Who paid for my resurrection
Once from the dust, once from the grave
Daughters and sons from the ashes you’ve raised
And hidden our faults even from your own face
And scattered our debt upon the waves
Glory to one
God’s murdered son
Who paid for my resurrection
Glory to One
God’s murdered son
Who paid for my resurrection
Glory to the one who
Who overcame in death
Glory to the one
Who paid for my offenses
Glory to the one
Once from the dust
Once from the grave
Daughters and sons
From the ashes you’ve raised
And hidden our faults
Even from your own face
And scattered our debt upon the waves
A room sometimes is a body
With the loneliest view
And the porch lights grow dim
With every on-setting hour
Where the stars seem so finite to you
But love it ain’t like the chemicals babe
Cause the chemicals don’t hang around
While everybody’s drilling for a fountain of youth
Losing years on the way down
A melody can be exhausted babe
Short of friend and fame
Cause the birds they don’t sing
In the winter short of spring
And, even then, they only sing in the day
But love, it ain’t like a melody babe
Cause the birds don’t hang around
Well, everybody’s drilling for a fountain of youth
But sometimes in these fountains they drown
Sometimes in these fountains they drown
But I want to love you
When the blood of my veins
Don’t know how to call out your name
Yeah I want to love you
When the birds don’t hang around
But love it ain’t like the chemicals babe
Cause the chemicals don’t hang around
While everybody’s drilling for a fountain of youth
Daylight comes to meet you on the road
Like a prodigal son, a prodigal hope
That you gave up on when you were young
Yeah, but daylight is coming on
We live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
We live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
But daylight is coming on
Heaven bends low for the naked and the poor
To settle up a debt, to settle up the score
To set up a table on the edge of a war
Cause we’ve been bleeding on the edge of a sword
We live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
We live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
But daylight is coming on
The boardwalk is painted red with the blood
Of a thousand prospective heroes but one
Still cries out beyond all the grave and the flood
Where the blackest abysses cannot overcome
Cause we live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
We live on the edge
On the edge of a darkness oh
The devil’s dealing dirty
In broken hearts and counterfeit currency
The living isn't easy
When a heart’s regret can tax the air you breathe
But like diamonds we shine
Up against the sheet of night
The jet-black sheet of night
We overtake the cityscapes
We scale the heights
We break but we don’t die
Whoa we’ve got a blood
We’ve got a love that’ll brave the flood
Whoa we’ve got a blood
We’ve got a love that’ll brave…
The cold will leave you guilty
And the wind will shake you like a tambourine
The dogs will leave you hungry
And your superiors will tax the blood you bleed
But like diamonds we shine
Up against the sheet of night
The jet-black sheet of night
We overtake the cityscapes
We scale the heights
We break but we don’t die
Whoa we’ve got a blood
We’ve got a love that’ll brave the flood
Whoa we’ve got a blood
We’ve got a love that’ll brave the flood
But like diamonds we shine
Up against the sheet of night
The jet-black sheet of night
We overtake the cityscapes
We scale the heights
We break but we don’t die
The devil’s dealing dirty
The lights come out
And follow you around the block
Where the freight train stopped
For you
Cause I can hear you walking in
The city till the pavement ends
With houses crumbling
For you
Cause I'm
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
For you, for you, for you
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
For you
We've run from it
But it sleeps like the current quits
And would've stained my lips
But not for you
We fall apart
at the seems
From day to dark
But its seeping into our sleep
For you
Cause I'm
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
Coming up from out of the ground
For you, for you, for you
One by one
Come undone
Come alive
We have seen a darkness
But we have seen a light
We have felt the love
Of a hope’s hot blood
In the machinery of night
We have seen a darkness
But we have seen the sun
We have come undone
To a love’s hot song
In a symphony of blood
The valley of the shadow knows our name
We have seen a night
But we have seen the day
Dressed in the blood of love’s hot veins
We have overcome
Yeah, we have overcome
Born into the grave
But born a second time
We’ve been born again
Into loves hot hands
On someone else’s dime
The valley of the shadow knows our name
We have seen a night
But we have seen the day
Dressed in the blood of loves hot veins
We have overcome
Yeah, we have overcome
You have called us loved
And you have called us wanted
One time we were bruised
Who is this
The King of Glory
Who is This
The King of Glory
Who is this
The King of Glory
Open up your gates before him
Open up you doors
You everlasting doors
Open up you doors
You everlasting doors
Open up you doors
You everlasting doors
Raise your voice
Chase away the ghosts
The pain that haunts a heart
The things we fear the most
The entropy of life
The slow decay of time
that wars against our bones
All these sinking ships
Are ruled against the wave
The raging of the tide
The tyranny of days
And sleep would chase us down
Sleep would have its way
And night would fall upon us all
But I believe you can overcome my economy
You can dig me out of the grave
I believe you can overcome my economy
You can dig me out of the grave
The weight of love
It rests upon us all
The people we’ve become
The people that we’ve known
Longing for a day
Arrested by a hope
That death could not foreclose upon
I believe you can overcome my economy
You can dig me out of the grave
And I believe you can overcome my economy
You can dig me out of the grave
I believe you can over come my hearts economy
Yeah you can dig me out of the grave
And I believe you can over come my economy
A Thousand pairs of firey eyes
Burn like a serpent down the hwy 5
As the Long amber tail to Los Angeles unwinds
I've got resurrection down in side my skin
But for all my revealating
I just cant make sense
Of this gravity we're in
Cause I'm a dead man now
With a ghost who lives
Within the confines of
These carbon ribs
And one day when I'm free
I will sit
The cripple at your table
The cripple by your side
A thousand miles of pain I'm sure
Led you to the threshold
Of my hearts screen door
To tell me what it is I'm dying for
Gravity comes
Like a cold cold Rain
To lead me to the rope again
But someone is standing in my place
Cause I'm a dead man now
With a ghost who lives
Within the confines of
These carbon ribs
And one day when I'm free
I will sit
The cripple at your table
The cripple by your side
The cripple at your table
The cripple by your side
And I sit beside you
And I sit beside you
And I sit beside you
You step through me
And the screen door hits the wood
And your packing all your things
You say your moving out to there to Hollywood
And I can't do a thing
You say there's nothing for you
In this cardboard town
And every bridge you cross
Your gonna burn it to the ground
You wont listen to a word that I'm telling ya
So who's running through the halls
In the houses of pain
That are staring back at me
Like the ocean from a plane
I swear I've seen your eyes
in the ghost of Philadelphia
I think about you late at night sometimes
When I can't sleep
Cause I can hear the train
It's always there
You just don't know it
Till a quarter to three
You just can't hear it in the day
When every body's got your number
In a plexy glass town
Where the birds ain't got wings
But no one makes a sound
Cause they all know how to fly
Just I wouldn't buy what they're selling ya
So who's running through the halls
In the houses of pain
That are staring back at me
Like the ocean from a plane
I swear I've seen your eyes
in the ghost of Philadelphia
I run into your old man every once and again
Mostly in the spring
Reminds me of our younger and more genuine days when
You weren't so out of reach
Still for all your running
You just can't change a mile
Of the things you carry around
In the closet of your mind
And the days keep coming man
They never fail ya
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
And I'm never gonna run away
Hope grows between
The cracks in the asphalt
In the down downtown
Ghetto streets
That contour the government
Housing intentions
Of my heart
And no one notices
The daisies don't care
About gang related violence
As long as they get enough air and
Water and sun
They're just fine
Who would have thought it but life
Is finding a way
Through this wasteland
Of cynics concrete and pain
There's a man down here
Somewhere between
Those saturday cartoons and the
Dirty magazines
He's raising the
Dead in the graveyards
Where we've laid
Down our dreams
And his name is hope
Hope stands high
On the fifteenth floor
Of a christmas tree perched
About the ledge
Of a fortress of steel
That's trying too hard
To be somebody's home
As it seized
My attention from I-85
Though the throes of the day were
Still writhing inside
I lifted my head
As I drove home that night
And knew that everything
Was gonna be fine
Who would have thought it
But life is finding a way
Through this wasteland
Of cynics concrete and pain
There's a man down here
Somewhere between
Those saturday cartoons
And the dirty magazines
He's raising the
Dead in the graveyards
Where we've laid
Down our dreams
And his name is hope
His name is hope
Everybody needs a little
Can hear him outside
He's been singing all night
He's saying, "when are you gonna
Come out from behind"
These paper thin walls of your
Chase me down like a lion
Like a bird of prey
Lift me up from the ashes
Of my hearts own shallow grave
Cause I know that I love you
But sometimes I’m afraid
Whoa oh…
Spare my body from the wolves, God
That crouch down at my door
Lift me up above the waters
And the sharks that guard your shore
Cause I know that I need you
But sometimes I know it more
Whoa oh…
Harbor me in the eye of the storm
