Chef Aaron Lao who's also the owner has such an elaborate menu that will make your tastebuds dance from the first bite until the last. And that's no surprise since Chef Aaron worked at NoBu in
Beverly Hills for many years before opening
Toro and then Sushi Ten.
This particular dish is called
Sweet Shrimp, or Ami Ebi; it entails serving this shrimp live by dismembering the body from the head portion; after sushi and been made from the body, the head is taken into the kitchen and the outer shell from the head part is removed and then deep fried. While it is still seeming to be alive.
The controversy with this dish is that the shrimp is still alive and moving even after it's brought into the kitchen to be deep fried. You can see it looking conscious and alive which many will denounce but to each his/own; this dish is incredible so if you can get over this, then you will certainly enjoy this dish.

Garlic Shrimp Recipe
Ingredients:
2 lbs
SHRIMP
½ cup OLIVE
OIL
½ cup GARLIC
...or as much as you like (finely chopped)
1 tsp
RED PEPPER FLAKES
2 tsp
PAPRIKA
SALT and PEPPER to taste
3-5 Tbsp
LEMON JUICE
½ cup PARSLEY (chopped)
sliced BREAD for sure, dude
Garlic Shrimp Recipe
Directions:
Peel and devein the shrimp (save the shells and heads to make a stock!)
Heat olive oil in a skillet on medium high heat.
When oil is hot, add red pepper flakes.
Red pepper flakes add a nice heat, but substitute fresh peppers, or even a little cayenne if you like.
Add garlic and saute for 1 minute. Use as much garlic as you like. I prefer lots of garlic. I literally used an entire bulb. It seems like a lot, but the oil and garlic are gonna taste great when paired with thick slices of fresh bread.
Add the shrimp, and continue sauteing on medium high heat.
Once the shrimp hits the pan, it'll only take about 3 minutes to cook.
Don't overcook the shrimp; they will become rubbery if cooked overly long.
Add paprika, and salt and pepper to taste.
Saute shrimp until just cooked, when shrimp begin to color and curl, then remove the skillet from the heat.
Add lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley.
Mix well and serve in a bowl with thick slices of fresh bread.

We labeled this video CONTROVERSIAL because to some, it's just that, but to others, this is the absolute freshest way to enjoy sweet shrimp (Amaebi) topped with quail egg, Ponzu Tobiko, fresh Uni and scallions.
Chef Aaron calls it the
Shrimp Boat; we call it our last meal if sentenced to death. How good was it? It was one of a few meals that we can't wait to go back next year and enjoy. We highly recommend this great establishment to anyone looking for the flavors of a highly skilled sushi chef, and for us to do so, it's saying a lot.
When we headed out to LA for VidCon in July, we thought, it's a little far, but traveling over an hour is better than traveling all the way from
Miami. We made it over there one night and were we impressed. Chef Arron Lao, who's the chef/owner, spent most of his time at
Nobu Beverly Hills and all of his dishes reflect that type of quality; they were amazing. It was a virtual climatic dining experience that didn't stop, nor did we want it to stop.
This was one of our highlights of our trip and we can't wait to go back next year. If you're fortunate enough to live in the LA area, this is a place you'll want to visit.
Tell Chef Aaron we sent you and enjoy your dinner but brace yourself

INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons olive oil - 477 calories
1 pound raw shrimp - 539 calories
1 pound asparagus - 91 calories
1 teaspoons salt -

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper - 3 calories
1 teaspoon garlic, minced - 4 calories
1 teaspoon ginger, minced - 2 calories
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce - 8 calories
2 tablespoons lemon juice - 7 calories
PREPARATION
1. In a large frying pan, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp to the pan, then season with ½ teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper.
Cook until the shrimp is pink. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.

. In the same pan, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and add asparagus. Add ginger and garlic, then season with ½ teaspoon of salt.
Stir frequently and cook until the asparagus is tender-crisp.

Return the shrimp to the pan, then add soy sauce. Stir until the ingredients are well combined. Just before the dish is ready, add lemon juice, stir once more, then serve while hot.
