The mile is an English unit of length equal to 1,760 yards and standardised as exactly 1,609.344 metres by international agreement in 1959.
With qualifiers, "mile" is also used to describe or translate a wide range of units derived from or roughly equivalent to the Roman mile, such as the nautical mile (now 1.852 km exactly), the Italian mile (roughly 1.852 km), and the Chinese mile (now 500 m exactly). The Romans divided their mile into 5,000 feet but the greater importance of furlongs in pre-modern England meant that the statute mile was made equivalent to 5,280 feet or 1,760 yards in 1593. This form of the mile then spread to the British-colonized nations who continue to employ the mile. The US Geological Survey now employs the metre for official purposes but legacy data from its 1927 geodetic datum has meant that a separate US survey mile (6336⁄3937 km) continues to see some use. While most countries replaced the mile with the kilometre when switching to the International System of Units, the international mile continues to be used in some countries, such as Liberia, Myanmar, the United Kingdom, the United States, and a number of countries with less than a million inhabitants, most of which are UK or US territories, or have close historical ties with the UK or US.
Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991) was an American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Widely considered one of the most influential and innovative musicians of the 20th century, Miles Davis was, together with his musical groups, at the forefront of several major developments in jazz music, including bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, post-bop and jazz fusion.
In 2006, Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which recognized him as "one of the key figures in the history of jazz". In 2008, his 1959 album Kind of Blue received its fourth platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for shipments of at least four million copies in the United States. On December 15, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a symbolic resolution recognizing and commemorating the album Kind of Blue on its 50th anniversary, "honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure".
Vanessa Lee Carlton (born August 16, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter. Upon completion of her education at the School of American Ballet, Carlton chose to pursue singing instead, performing in New York City bars and clubs while attending university. Three months after recording a demo with producer Peter Zizzo, she signed with A&M Records. She began recording her album, which was initially unsuccessful until Ron Fair took over.
Her debut single, "A Thousand Miles", reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002. Her debut album, Be Not Nobody, followed and received a platinum certification in the United States. Her subsequent albums, Harmonium (2004) and Heroes & Thieves (2007), failed to match the commercial success of the first. She produced a fourth album, Rabbits on the Run (2011), independently before seeking a record label to release it. Carlton released a holiday EP titled Hear the Bells in November 2012, and released her fifth studio album, Liberman, on October 23, 2015.

Adding to the cocktail of mystery is the fleeting frequents of an ageing footballer's wife and a gangland heavy. The circumstance of everyone's attendance is hiding something disturbing. Away from the partying culprits an old piano in a secret room on the 9th floor hides away a pained man who is subjected to horrendous torture. Who is this man and what is the motive? A story of revenge, guilt, hopeless redemption, and acceptance rises up from underneath the jazzy small talk to root out both the tortured and torturer's identity.

Trying to fix the thoughts of yesterday
Broken mirror shows a hint of grace
Seems like this is the only way
Seems like I am awake for years
Cannot even try to explain my fear
Like living trees old thoughts are hunting me
Hunting me
I try hard, but tonight you burned my eyes you burned my eyes, you burned my eyes yeah you burned my eyes
Sigh to whatever it takes to be miles away, miles away, away
A fiction trip although the plateau's clean
Air you wished you had never seen
It is floating like a breeze
Out of the backland eh
I try hard, but tonight you burned my eyes you burned my eyes, you burned my eyes yeah you burned my eyes
Sigh to whatever it takes to be miles away, miles away, away
Miles away, miles away....
