Welcome back,
Pokémon Trainers!
It's time again for a weekly news update video!
- The #Pokemon20 festivities continue! In celebration of
Pokémon's
20th anniversary - and, well, in co-celebration of my channel hitting over
500 subscribers this past week -
I'll be unboxing the first of several Mythical
Pokémon TCG Collections being released this year! The Mew collection is up first, containing a special holographic Mew card, a Mew collector's pin, two booster packs of the
Generations expansion, and a code card to unlock this collection in
Pokémon TCG Online. Now, since the Generations boosters don't include their own code cards, I'm assuming that the Mew code card unlocks the Mew card plus the two boosters. So I'm also opening up a
Flashfire booster and a
Furious Fists booster. All three code cards will be going out to one commentor each, chosen randomly, who responds to this week's
Question of the Day, using the hashtag #
QOTD in their comment. The draw will be done this coming Sunday, March 6th.
- Just as a quick heads up, the upload schedule for the channel is going to be a little wonky this week. Tuesday will be the usual Pokémon TCG
Live Online Match, followed Wednesday through Friday with three episodes of the
Pokémon Blue playthrough. The
Omega Ruby wi-fi battles will be uploaded during the weekend, because this coming weekend is the long-awaited Kanto
Classic Online
Competition! My team has been selected, with a team building video going up on Saturday, and the battles themselves uploading on Sunday.
- In
Pokémon Shuffle, several
Special Stages are available. Until March 8th, you can battle Gyarados and/or Mew to try and add these Pokémon to your collection. A third special stage takes the form of an online competition, featuring
Mega Charizard X. Aim for as high of a score as you can manage as you take on this Dragon-type Pokémon for your chance to win some great rewards! Ranking in at 26,
000 to 19,001 earns you 2
Attack Power Up items; a rank of 19,000 to 3,
701 will snag you the Charizardite X; while ranking at 3,700 and higher earns you the Charizardite X as well as a
Mega Speedup item. Even if you don't place high in the rankings, you'll still earn an Attack Power Up item just for participating!
- The Mythical Pokémon online distributions continue on into February! Starting tomorrow, the Johto myth, Celebi, will be available as a download via the
Nintendo Network.
Fire up your Gen 6 games (
X, Y, Omega Ruby, or
Alpha Sapphire), head to
Mystery Gift from the main menu, and select Get Via
Internet. No GS
Ball required!
-
Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and
Pokémon Yellow are now available from the
Nintendo eShop as digital download
Virtual Console titles! Now you can experience the original generation of Pokémon adventures just how they played out on the classic
Game Boy system. Also now available are special
New Nintendo 3DS bundles, featuring Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. These bundles come with a New Nintendo 3DS with both games pre-installed, special faceplates for the system, and special Pokémon themes for your
Home screen.

Perhaps the biggest announcement to be made amongst the #Pokemon20 hype thus far is the reveal that, in the holiday season of 2016, the next generation of
Pokémon games are coming our way:
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon! Not much more than the names have been mentioned as of yet for these games, but as more information is revealed, I'll be sure to report the news to you. Along with this announcement is the news that
Sun and Moon will also
function with the online
Pokémon Bank storage system, allowing you to download your Pokémon from Gen 6 games into the upcoming Gen 7 games. But in addition to that, you'll also be able to upload Pokémon from your digitial copies of
Red, Blue, and
Yellow into Pokémon Bank as well, which can then be downloaded into Sun and Moon!
Don't forget to follow me on Twitter for new Pokémon updates as they occur!
