Riviera, pronounced [riˈvjɛːra], is an Italian word which means "coastline", ultimately derived from Latin ripa, through Ligurian rivea. It came to be applied as a proper name to the coast of Liguria, in the form riviera ligure, then shortened to riviera. The two areas currently known in English as "The Riviera" without additional qualification are:
Riviera may be also applied to any coastline, especially one that is sunny, topographically diverse and popular with tourists. Such places called Riviera include:
Dance under the missile glow
Over the eastern sea
Gunshot by the side of the road
Highway scenery
Revolution got no goals
Except keepin' the family together
Dang chains ain't sweet on you
Freedom fighter, don't let 'em get you alive
You won't change a damn thing, this is true
Freedom fighter, keep your head on tonight, keep it on now
Take me on with you now
Take me along with you tonight
She came late for the tank parade
With emancipation song
Plugged in a guitar and played
And sang of Spanish bombs
Jackknifed inside and prayed
The world has come undone, yeah, whatever
Dang chains'll look good on you
Freedom fighter, don't let 'em get you alive
You won't change a damn thing, this is true
Freedom fighter, keep your head on tonight, keep it on now
Take me on with you now
Take me along with you tonight
Dang chains'll look good on you
Freedom fighter, don't let 'em get you alive
You won't change a damn thing, this is true
Freedom fighter, keep your head on tonight, keep it on now
Take me on with you now
Take me along with you tonight
