I'm fascinated by the presence of nature in cities and I'm working on a photography project about wild flowers you find here http://www.jameslomax.com/photos/?c=manchester-wild-flowers
Parks are an intermediary space between the urban and the rural - which for me means the hills. Heaton Park in Manchester is sometimes described as one of the largest in Europe. I don't know if that's exaggeration. It's certainly a huge park and quite a surprise if you're used to the smaller green spaces in other parts of the city.
I'm a hill walker. It's what I love to do in the Pyrenees, Scotland, Lake District, Snowdonia and Peak District. I don't do that as much as I like however, which means I walk parks and nature reserves and enjoy them accordingly.
Parks are a lovely resource in congested cities. Heaton Park is one of the best in Manchester. Not because it's notably scenic, but because of its size and elevation with the highest point in Manchester to enjoy.

A ride on the Heaton Park Tramway, Manchester on the afternoon of Monday 4th May 2015.
The tramway at Heaton Park runs for about quarter of a mile on a stretch of line previously used as a siding for the Manchester Corporation Trams and has been running since 1980.

Newcastle upon Tyne Cycle Route - Jesmond Dene to Cycle Hub Via Ouseburn HD POV
This was the first time i had hit the Ouseburn/Quayside this way so once i hit the Ouseburn wasn't 100% sure which paths to stick to, but i got there in the end as i know the area. Starting at Jesmond Dene along next to entrance past Jesmond Dene house, through the Dene, up to Heaton Park, through Heaton Park and cut down towards the Ouseburn. Through the Ouseburn past the farm and down to the Cycle Hub on the Quayside. Quite a nice little route that i think will explore a bit more, especially down under Byker Bridge. 9.6.16 -

Heaton Park Tramway Autumn Celebration
The Heaton Park Tramway held their Autumn Celebration Event on 17th November 2013. Enthusiasts were treated to a tram lineup of Stockport 5, Leeds 6, Manchester 765, Blackpool 752, Blackpool 623 and last but not least Heaton Park 7. Stockport 5 and Manchester 765 then went into service while Blackpool 623 was on Tram Driving Experience Duties. Trams ran all day until Dusk. There was also the opportunity to view the progress being made on the new Depot. Many thanks to everyone at The Heaton Park Tramway for a great day. -

Heaton Park Tramway 100 Not Out
I went to a old lady's birthday on 6th July 2014,and I'm sure you will agree she looks really good for her age. The Heaton Park Tramway celebrated the 100th Birthday of Manchester 765. With Birthday greetings, speeches, visiting buses, a history of 765 display and Manchester tram models at Middleton Depot, and of course Birthday Cake. There was also excellent Photo opportunities at Middleton and at Lakeside, With the sun shining this was about as good as it gets. Heaton Park Tramway Launch of Brush Car 623
After a brief speech by guest speaker Bryan Lindop of Blackpool Transport, ex Blackpool 1937 Brush car No.623. entered service at The Heaton Park Tramway on 22nd January 2012. Mr Lindop then took the controls of No.623 on its first passenger trip in Heaton Park. Number 623 went into service alongside Manchester Tram 765 and Stockport No.5. My thanks to everyone at The Heaton Park Tramway for a well organised event. A great day was had by everyone who attended and the weather was kind to us. -

The Heaton Park Tramway held their Autumn Celebration Event on 17th November 2013. Enthusiasts were treated to a tram lineup of Stockport 5, Leeds 6, Manchester 765, Blackpool 752, Blackpool 623 and last but not least Heaton Park 7.
Stockport 5 and Manchester 765 then went into service while Blackpool 623 was on Tram Driving Experience Duties. Trams ran all day until Dusk. There was also the opportunity to view the progress being made on the new Depot. Many thanks to everyone at The Heaton Park Tramway for a great day.

With Birthday greetings, speeches, visiting buses, a history of 765 display and Manchester tram models at Middleton Depot, and of course Birthday Cake. There was also excellent Photo opportunities at Middleton and at Lakeside,
