Documentary following the staff at London's King's Cross station, the gateway to Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh for the 47 million people who travel through the station every year.
The 1970s concourse at King's Cross is cramped and dark, doing nothing to help the spirits of the passengers - something that Alexis, who works on the passenger information point, knows all too well from her experience of dealing with frustrated travellers. Steve, who sells tickets in the travel centre, says he regularly relies on his conflict resolution training.
There is hope that a brand new concourse will lift everyone's spirits. East Coast manager Steve Newland wants the opening to coincide with customer service levels worthy of a five-star hotel, a vision that is frustrated when broken-down trains and fatalities on the line bring everything to a standstill.
Laxman has worked at the station for 35 years, during which time he has witnessed both an IRA bombing and the King's Cross fire. He is a much-loved staff member but will not be there to see the new concourse filled with passengers, as retirement beckons. His last day at work is a very sad one for everyone at the station.

Plot -
Roberta (Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis live a comfortable and carefree upper middle-class life in London with their parents. But when their father (Michael Kitchen), a senior civil servant, is arrested on a charge of treason and found guilty, they are forced to move with their mother to "three chimneys", a cold and rundown cottage in the country near a railway.
Whilst Mother (Jenny Agutter) tries to make a meagre living writing stories and poems she hopes magazines and newspapers will publish, the children seek amusement by watching the trains on the nearby railway line (the fictional Great Northern and Southern Railway) and waving to the passengers. They become friendly with Perks, the cheerful station porter, but feel the wrath of the Stationmaster when Peter is caught trying to steal coal to heat the house.
They become friends with the old gentleman (whose name is never revealed) who regularly takes the 9:15 down train. They ask him to assist them with food and medicine when Mother falls ill. He is happy to do so, although Mother is angry and embarrassed.
The children save the lives of passengers on a train by alerting them of a landslide; they'll give shelter to a Russian dissident, Mr Szczepansky, and help to unite him with his family. They'll rescue Jim (JJ Feild), a boarder at a nearby school, who is injured whilst participating in a paper chase.
Bobbie eventually discovers the truth of her father's absence, despite Mother's efforts to shield them from it, and appeals to the Old Gentleman for his help. A Director of the railway company with influential friends, he is able to help prove their father's innocence. The family is reunited.
A friendship and possible future romance between Jim and Bobbie is hinted at.
The area of England to which the family move is not specified, but the railway scenes were filmed on the Bluebell Line.

Brave Indian Railway TT vs group of policemen
I was travelling in 14311 Ala-Hazrat on 16/09/16 when a group of policemen who missed their shatabdi entered in 2nd AC and just settled down near my seat. TT came and simply said its not allowed to sit in this coach kindly leave, they said we are from police and going to Ajmer we missed our shatabdi so entered here. They were behaving so stupid and trying to claim that Shatabdi's ticket is valid in Ala-hazrat. They said give us in writing that our ticket is invalid for this train, TT without wasting time wrote that and shut their mouths, later he collected ₹925 from each policeman as they were without ticket. Obviously boarding a train with other train's ticket is similar to travel ticketless.
