This is my air driven prototype micro turboprop engine that i made using methods
from my tiny model jet engine. It has a free turbine wheel which means, air is fed
in the inlet, passes the guide vanes and hits the turbine wheel which in turn spins
the shaft that is connected to. Then, with a 12:1 gear ratio the power is transmitted to
to a propeller (108mm x 68mm). For its size i think it's quite powerful, but
i don't know if it could fly a small rc plane. Maybe if i could increase the air pressure for example at 50 or 60 psi it would probably be able to lift a micro rc plane. The reason i didn't do it was due to the fact that i wasn't sure if the bearings could withstand that much stress ...Also, this engine could be used as a micro turboshaft engine for a micro sized hepicopter, as it has really good torque. The only limiting factor i think is the air supply. It's difficult to make a reliable micro air tank that could fit to a micro sized aircraft, that is strong enough to withstand high pressure to power the engine for 3 or more minutes, and small enough to fit the aircraft.
As you can see in the video the turbine wheel was spinning at 144,000 rpm which is pretty high and if i attempt to grab the shaft with my hand (if i remove the propeller of course) it's really hard to stop it which means it has some good torque. I will definitely connect it to an electric motor generator to see what kind of power it can produce. Also i will make an assemby video of this engine to show you how does it look like inside and out.

Single Shaft 150SHP and 100SHP Turbo Prop Engines. A completely self contained Turbine Engine, with Starter, Alternator, Speed Switch and Tach Generator. Dry weight w/PSRU (Prop Speed Reduction Unit), Prop Hub and Prop Blades is 111 lbs. Propeller is a 60", 3-Blade Controllable Pitch Composite Prop.
Both throttle and prop pitch controls are manual. T62/150TP 100% RPM = 2840; T62/100TP 100% RPM = 2800. RPM is governed by a mechanical, hydro-pneumatic FCU (Fuel Control Unit) to remain at 100%. Flight Idle RPM is governed to approx 62~64%. Power (load) is controlled solely by prop pitch.
While RPM remains at a constant 100%, power is fully controllable from near 0% to 100%. The prop pitch range is accurately set to cover the entire load/power range. Beta (reverse pitch) is possible through additional pitch range end stop adjustments.
Fuel burn: T62/150TP = 14 to 18GPH; T62/100TP = 10 to 14GPH

Could Your Next SportPlane Be Turbine Powered?
You never know what you’ll see at a Fly-in, so when ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, saw an RV-10 with a turbine engine, he just couldn’t pass it by.
To find out what was going on, Jim met with Pete Pierpont, the CEO of Turbine Solution Group. Pierpont said the engine is a TP 100 that produces 250 horsepower, and has $25 million invested in its development.
This engine has not been certified and that’s why it resides in an experimental airplane. Pierpont said they intend to ride it hard as they work their way towards certification. He added that the RV-10 was chosen as the flight test airframe because it’s a well-known design, stable, and suited towards the testing work.
Pierpont said the flight testing has gone well so far with not a single problem regarding the engine. The engine operates with FADEC that allows a single lever operation and prevents issues such as over torqueing or hot starts. Turboprop
A turboprop engine is a turbine engine that drives an aircraft propeller. In contrast to a turbojet, the engine's exhaust gases do not contain enough energy to create significant thrust, since almost all of the engine's power is used to drive the propeller.
The propeller is coupled to the turbine through a reduction gear that converts the high RPM, low torque output to low RPM, high torque. The propeller itself is normally a constant speed (variable pitch) type similar to that used with larger reciprocating aircraft engines.
Turboprop engines are generally used on small subsonic aircraft, but some aircraft outfitted with turboprops have cruising speeds in excess of 500 kt (926 km/h, 575 mph). Large military and civil aircraft, such as the Lockheed L-188 Electra and the Tupolev Tu-95, have also used turboprop power. The Airbus A400M is powered by four Europrop TP400 engines, which are the third most powerful turboprop engines ever produced, after the Kuznetsov NK-12 and Progress D-27.

Pierpont said the engine is a TP 100 that produces 250 horsepower, and has $25 million invested in its development. This engine has not been certified and that’s why it resides in an experimental airplane. Pierpont said they intend to ride it hard as they work their way towards certification. He added that the RV-10 was chosen as the flight test airframe because it’s a well-known design, stable, and suited towards the testing work. Pierpont said the flight testing has gone well so far with not a single problem regarding the engine. The engine operates with FADEC that allows a single lever operation and prevents issues such as over torqueing or hot starts. Micro Turboprop Engine Prototype Test
Don't Forget To - LIKE | SUBSCRIBE | SHARE This is my air driven prototype micro turboprop engine that i made using methods from my tiny model jet engine. It has a free turbine wheel which means, air is fed in the inlet, passes the guide vanes and hits the turbine wheel which in turn spins the shaft that is connected to. Then, with a 12:1 gear ratio the power is transmitted to to a propeller (108mm x 68mm). For its size i think it's quite powerful, but i don't know if it could fly a small rc plane. Maybe if i could increase the air pressure for example at 50 or 60 psi it would probably be able to lift a micro rc plane. The reason i didn't do it was due to the fact that i wasn't sure if the bearings could withstand that much stress ...Also, this engine could be used as a micro turbosha... -

Single Shaft 150SHP and 100SHP Turbo Prop Engines. A completely self contained Turbine Engine, with Starter, Alternator, Speed Switch and Tach Generator. Dry weight w/PSRU (Prop Speed Reduction Unit), Prop Hub and Prop Blades is 111 lbs. Propeller is a 60", 3-Blade Controllable Pitch Composite Prop. Both throttle and prop pitch controls are manual. T62/150TP 100% RPM = 2840; T62/100TP 100% RPM = 2800. RPM is governed by a mechanical, hydro-pneumatic FCU (Fuel Control Unit) to remain at 100%. Flight Idle RPM is governed to approx 62~64%. This is my air driven prototype micro turboprop engine that i made using methods
from my tiny model jet engine. It has a free turbine wheel which means, air is fed
in the inlet, passes the guide vanes and hits the turbine wheel which in turn spins
the shaft that is connected to. Then, with a 12:1 gear ratio the power is transmitted to
to a propeller (108mm x 68mm). For its size i think it's quite powerful, but
i don't know if it could fly a small rc plane. Maybe if i could increase the air pressure for example at 50 or 60 psi it would probably be able to lift a micro rc plane. The reason i didn't do it was due to the fact that i wasn't sure if the bearings could withstand that much stress ...Also, this engine could be used as a micro turboshaft engine for a micro sized hepicopter, as it has really good torque. The only limiting factor i think is the air supply. It's difficult to make a reliable micro air tank that could fit to a micro sized aircraft, that is strong enough to withstand high pressure to power the engine for 3 or more minutes, and small enough to fit the aircraft.
As you can see in the video the turbine wheel was spinning at 144,000 rpm which is pretty high and if i attempt to grab the shaft with my hand (if i remove the propeller of course) it's really hard to stop it which means it has some good torque. I will definitely connect it to an electric motor generator to see what kind of power it can produce. Also i will make an assemby video of this engine to show you how does it look like inside and out.

Single Shaft 150SHP and 100SHP Turbo Prop Engines. A completely self contained Turbine Engine, with Starter, Alternator, Speed Switch and Tach Generator. Dry weight w/PSRU (Prop Speed Reduction Unit), Prop Hub and Prop Blades is 111 lbs. Propeller is a 60", 3-Blade Controllable Pitch Composite Prop.
Both throttle and prop pitch controls are manual. T62/150TP 100% RPM = 2840; T62/100TP 100% RPM = 2800. RPM is governed by a mechanical, hydro-pneumatic FCU (Fuel Control Unit) to remain at 100%. Flight Idle RPM is governed to approx 62~64%. Power (load) is controlled solely by prop pitch.
While RPM remains at a constant 100%, power is fully controllable from near 0% to 100%. The prop pitch range is accurately set to cover the entire load/power range. Beta (reverse pitch) is possible through additional pitch range end stop adjustments.
Fuel burn: T62/150TP = 14 to 18GPH; T62/100TP = 10 to 14GPH

Could Your Next SportPlane Be Turbine Powered?
You never know what you’ll see at a Fly-in, so when ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, saw an RV-10 with a turbine engine, he just couldn’t pass it by.
To find out what was going on, Jim met with Pete Pierpont, the CEO of Turbine Solution Group. Pierpont said the engine is a TP 100 that produces 250 horsepower, and has $25 million invested in its development.
This engine has not been certified and that’s why it resides in an experimental airplane. Pierpont said they intend to ride it hard as they work their way towards certification. He added that the RV-10 was chosen as the flight test airframe because it’s a well-known design, stable, and suited towards the testing work.
Pierpont said the flight testing has gone well so far with not a single problem regarding the engine. The engine operates with FADEC that allows a single lever operation and prevents issues such as over torqueing or hot starts. The video includes other detailed information regarding marketing, pricing, and plans for the future. Is a turbine in your future?
