Well, here's the genuine article, "The Loco-Motion" by Little Eva, presented by Bobby Darin and a famous soft drink. No frills, just great dancing synchronization to a truly classic oldie. The "Loco-Motion" was Little Eva's first of three major hits, peaking at #1 on Billboard and Cash Box on August 18, 1962 and holding the top spot for three weeks. However, the flip side, "He Is The Boy," was also a very popular number as well (I have this single on vinyl). Two other Top 40 hits would follow, but "The Loco-Motion" will always be the song most often associated with Little Eva.

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Amy 943) Out of New York, this obscure disc was issued in October of 1965. From the 'Dimension Doll' who had the world-wide smash, 'The Loco-motion', Little Eva is teamed up with producers, Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer. If the backing track to this tune sounds like an unissued McCoys or Strangeloves track on Bang Records, it's because this production team was responsible for those group's hits and this track was recorded during the same period. I wouldn't be surprised if an unreleased version by one or both of them exists. It's a driving dancefloor take on the Ben E. King hit that is loaded with bass and drums galore and is one of Eva Boyd's best lost singles.

Perhaps no babysitter in history got a bigger break than Eva Boyd, who baby sat for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. King and Goffin asked her to record a song they had written called "The Loco-Motion". Eva Narcissus Boyd was born June 29, 1943 in Bell Haven, North Carolina. In 1962, she moved to the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn where she had relatives. One of her relatives new the Cookies and suggested her as a stand-in. So whenever one of the Cokies couldn't get out of class, Eva subsituted for her. Since the work was sporadic Eva often found herself babysitting songwriters Carol King and Gerry Goffin. Returning home one day they found her singing a song theyhad written for Dee dee Sharp. They Liked what they heard, so they rushed her into the sudio, with King doing the backing vocals.
Eva Narcissus Boyd was born in Bellhaven, North Carolina in 1946, one of sixteen children. Little Eva was only sixteen when "The Locomotion" hit #1. Her salary as the Goffins' babysitter was $35 dollars a week. Her earnings from "The Locomotion" were reported to be around thirty thousand dollars. She appeared on television shows and in numerous magazines She performed live in the U.S. and did several tours of England.
Remembered by most as a one hit wonder Litle Eva was more than that. Her voice had a sullen edge to it that worked best when she played the hurt, abandoned girl. For an inexperienced girl, that had previously only sung in church, she possessed an unique knack for phrasing. Her follow-up to "Locomotion," "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" (#12) told a story of a close friend who tried to move in on her boyfriend.
Her third record "Lets Turkey Trot" (#20) was another dance craze tune. The next record was a cliched combination of "on Top Of Old Smokey" and "The Locomotion," called "Old Smokey Locomotion" (#18). None of her future releases even made the Top 100. In late 1962 when the Cookies began having their own hits, Eva recorded withthem occassionally.
She did continue making demos, and one duet with Big Dee Irvin "Swinging On a Star" (#38, but as a viable recording artist her career was over.
Eva recorded for a few other labels, but never re-created her original over night success. When the Cookies began having their own hits in late 1962, Eva occassionally recorded with them.
Disenchanted with the music business, she retired in the early Seventies, but in the Nineties began performing live on the oldies circuit.

Eva Narcissus Boyd (June 29, 1943 – April 10, 2003), known by the stage name of Little Eva (after a character from Uncle Tom's Cabin), was a Puerto Rican American pop singer.
Born in Belhaven, North Carolina, she moved to the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York at a young age. As a teenager, she worked as a maid and earned extra money as a babysitter for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. It is often claimed that Goffin and King were amused by Boyd's individual dancing style, so they wrote "The Loco-Motion" for her and had her record it as a demo (the record was intended for Dee Dee Sharp).
However, as King said in an interview with NPR and in her "One to One" concert video, they knew she could sing when they met her, and it would be just a matter of time before they would have her record songs they wrote, the most successful being "The Loco-Motion".
Music producer Don Kirshner of Dimension Records was impressed by the song and Boyd's voice and had it released. The song reached #1 in the United States in 1962. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. After the success of "The Loco-Motion", Boyd was stereotyped as a dance-craze singer and was given limited material.

Well, here's the genuine article, "The Loco-Motion" by Little Eva, presented by Bobby Darin and a famous soft drink. No frills, just great dancing synchronization to a truly classic oldie. The "Loco-Motion" was Little Eva's first of three major hits, peaking at #1 on Billboard and Cash Box on August 18, 1962 and holding the top spot for three weeks. However, the flip side, "He Is The Boy," was also a very popular number as well (I have this single on vinyl). Two other Top 40 hits would follow, but "The Loco-Motion" will always be the song most often associated with Little Eva. Enjoy the show! -

From the 'Dimension Doll' who had the world-wide smash, 'The Loco-motion', Little Eva is teamed up with producers, Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer. If the backing track to this tune sounds like an unissued McCoys or Strangeloves track on Bang Records, it's because this production team was responsible for those group's hits and this track was recorded during the same period. I wouldn't be surprised if an unreleased version by one or both of them exists. It's a driving dancefloor take on the Ben E. King hit that is loaded with bass and drums galore and is one of Eva Boyd's best lost singles. -

Perhaps no babysitter in history got a bigger break than Eva Boyd, who baby sat for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin. King and Goffin asked her to record a song they had written called "The Loco-Motion". Eva Narcissus Boyd was born June 29, 1943 in Bell Haven, North Carolina. In 1962, she moved to the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn where she had relatives. One of her relatives new the Cookies and suggested her as a stand-in. So whenever one of the Cokies couldn't get out of class, Eva subsituted for her. Since the work was sporadic Eva often found herself babysitting songwriters Carol King and Gerry Goffin. Returning home one day they found her singing a song theyhad written for Dee dee Sharp. They Liked what they heard, so they rushed her into the sudio, with King doing the back... -

Eva Narcissus Boyd was born in Bellhaven, North Carolina in 1946, one of sixteen children. Little Eva was only sixteen when "The Locomotion" hit #1. Her salary as the Goffins' babysitter was $35 dollars a week. Her earnings from "The Locomotion" were reported to be around thirty thousand dollars. She appeared on television shows and in numerous magazines She performed live in the U.S. and did several tours of England.
Remembered by most as a one hit wonder Litle Eva was more than that. Her voice had a sullen edge to it that worked best when she played the hurt, abandoned girl. For an inexperienced girl, that had previously only sung in church, she possessed an unique knack for phrasing. Her follow-up to "Locomotion," "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" (#12) told a story of a close friend who tried to move in on her boyfriend.
Her third record "Lets Turkey Trot" (#20) was another dance craze tune. The next record was a cliched combination of "on Top Of Old Smokey" and "The Locomotion," called "Old Smokey Locomotion" (#18). None of her future releases even made the Top 100. In late 1962 when the Cookies began having their own hits, Eva recorded withthem occassionally.
She did continue making demos, and one duet with Big Dee Irvin "Swinging On a Star" (#38, but as a viable recording artist her career was over.
Eva recorded for a few other labels, but never re-created her original over night success. When the Cookies began having their own hits in late 1962, Eva occassionally recorded with them.
Disenchanted with the music business, she retired in the early Seventies, but in the Nineties began performing live on the oldies circuit.
