A rose (/ˈroʊz/) is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over 100 species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing or trailing with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses.
The name rose comes from French, itself from Latin rosa, which was perhaps borrowed from Oscan, from Greek ρόδον rhódon (Aeolic βρόδον wródon), itself borrowed from Old Persian wrd- (wurdi), related to Avestan varəδa, Sogdian ward, Parthian wâr.
Roses have been long used as symbols in a number of societies. Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. "Rose" means pink or red in a variety of languages (such as the Romance languages and Greek).
The rose was sacred to a number of goddesses including Isis, whose rose appears in the late classical allegorical novel The Golden Ass as "the sweet Rose of reason and virtue" that saves the hero from his bewitched life in the form of a donkey. The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with the goddess of love, Aphrodite (Greek name) and Venus (Roman name).
In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where secret or confidential matters were discussed. The phrase sub rosa, or "under the rose", means to keep a secret — derived from this ancient Roman practice.
The cultivation of geometrical gardens, in which the rose has often held pride of place, has a long history in Iran and surrounding lands. In the lyric ghazal, it is the beauty of the rose that provokes the longing song of the nightingale - an image prominent, for example, in the poems of Hafez.

After studying law, she became a school teacher teaching at the Jewish Merkaz Ohr Joseph in the 19e arrondissement of Paris before launching into music. She gained fame in 2006 with the single "La Liste" followed by a similarly titled album. She got a great boost when French singer Alain Souchon invited her to open for him at l'Olympia de Paris and at Zénith de Paris in 2006. In 2007 she started her own tour and appeared at La Cigale, a second time at l'Olympia as first part of her husband Bensé's concert and in Montreal in 2008.
In 2009, she recorded her second album Les Souvenirs sous ma frange produced by Jérôme Plasseraud and Thibaut Barbillon, both members of the group 1973. In 2013 she followed that up with a third album Et puis juin.
In addition, she has written songs for other artists, notably for Jenifer, appeared in a charity single for Les voix de l'enfant, project of La Fondation Abbé Pierre and in Sidaction in a duet with Alain Souchon. She also took part in album We Love Disney with the song "Au bout du rêve".
Summer Rose is someone crucial to Ruby's motivation and likely to the plot of the RWBY series overall. And yet we know so little about her, her history, and the final mission she went on. There are so many questions surrounding her and I think now is a good time to discuss the possibilities surrounding Summer Rose. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! The RWBY comic are giving small expansions on the RWBY universe. This issue gives us a hint at what Summer Rose's weapon is, it looks like a scythe but I don't think team STRQ would have 2 scythe wielders. We also see Raven yell at a young Ruby based on Yang calling Summer her mother. What do you all think about the events of this Issue?

André Rieu Live at the Point, Dublin, Ireland. The Last Rose of Summer is a poem by Irish poet Thomas Moore, who was a friend of Byron and Shelley. Moore wrote it in 1805 while at Jenkinstown Park in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Sir John Stevenson set the poem to its beautiful melody and it was published in a collection of Moore's work called Irish Melodies (1807-34). It was made popular in the twenty first century in a recording by Charlotte Church and the Irish Tenors. This melody was used extensively throughout Friedrich von Flotow's opera "Martha," first performed in 1847 in Vienna. According to the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (1954), this opera was a remodelling from a ballet written in conjunction with Burgmuller and Deldevez and produced in Paris in 1844 as "Lady Henr...
The mid summer is a good time to check your roses and give them some TLC. It is also a good time to think about stopping by Heirloom during their sale to see what you can add to your garden.
