Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, beliau dilahirkan pada tanggal 26 Februari 1954 di Istanbul, Turki, istri beliau bernama Emine Gülbaran dan memiliki anak berjumlah 4 orang. Masa kecilnya Erdogan dihabiskan di dekat laut hitam, ayahnya sendiri seorang pelaut dari Kota Rize. Masa sekolahnya ia habiskan untuk belajar agama di Sekolah Imam Hatif kemudian dari sana ia kemudian memilih untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya dengan kuliah di jurusan Ekonomi dan Bisnis di Universitas Marmara, Turki.
Selama memerintah Turki Erdogan berhasil membuat Produk Domestik Nasional Turki mencapai 100 Milyar Dollar di tahun 2013 setahun sebelum masa jabatannya sebagai perdana menteri habis. Kemudian ia juga membuat Turki berhasil masuk dalam anggota G-20 yaitu negara-negara dengan ekonomi terkuat di dunia, bayangkan saja Turki berhasil merangsek masuk ke urutan 16 sebagai negara dengan ekonomi terkuat padahal sebelumnya berada di peringkat 111 dunia.

"On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan enacted an emergency decree to shutter thousands of institutions across the country, including private schools and charities, Reuters reports. The emergency decree is Erdogan’s first since imposing a three-month state of emergency on Wednesday after amilitary insurrection against his government failed a week ago...
Over the past week Turkish authorities have aggressively detained people in the Turkish judiciary, education system, military, and police departments, targeting in particular alleged followers of Gulen.
The state of emergency gives Erdogan the power to pass laws and suspend civil rights without going through the tortuous business of winning parliamentary approval.
The reality of the situation is approximately as Orwellian as it sounds. Ugur Tanyeli, dean of faculty of architecture at Bilgi University in Istanbul told theNew York Times on Friday, “We were given no information as to what will happen next. We were just asked to resign, and we resigned.””*

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan urged people to take to the streets to protest against what he described as a coup attempt by a minority faction within the military, vowing that it would meet with a "necessary response", Reuters reports He told a CNN Turk reporter via cellphone that Turkish people must gather in public squares to show their response to the attempted military takeover, in comments broadcast live on television.
Erdogan said he believed the attempted coup would be over within a "short time" and said those responsible would pay a heavy price in the courts. He said the act was encourage by the "parallel structure" - his shorthand for followers of Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based Muslim cleric who he has repeatedly accused of attempting to foment an uprising among his followers in the judiciary and the military.
"I certainly believe that coup plotters will not succeed," he said, speaking on FaceTime via mobile phone in his first reaction to the move by the Turkish armed forces.
"I urge the Turkish people to convene at public squares and airports. I never believed in a power higher than the power of the people."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told FRANCE 24 that his country’s state of emergency, imposed in the wake of an attempted coup to oust him could be extended until he has rid Turkey’s “institutions of this cancer”.
Turkey launched a sweeping crackdown following the failed July 15 insurrection, declaring a three-month state of emergency and detaining or dismissing 33,000 people in the military and other state institutions.
In the latest measures, the government revoked nearly 11,000 passports and detained 283 members of the presidential guard, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Turkey alleges that the coup attempt by some military units, in which 246 people were killed, was conceived by Fethullah Gülen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since the late 1990s.
“They [the coup leaders] were given instructions from Pennsylvania, and they are starting to confess,” Erdogan said in an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24. “They even tried to get the army chief of staff, who was being held hostage, to speak to Gülen directly.”
Gülen has denied any prior knowledge of the coup attempt.
“We have been confronted with separatist terrorist organisations for years, 45,000 people have died,” Erdogan said. “We will continue operations against these separatists. We have to rid our institutions of this cancer.”
Erdogan justified the imposition of a state of emergency, with probable extensions, noting that France’s own state of emergency, imposed after the November 13, 2015 Paris attacks, has been extended for another six months.
“There is no obstacle in terms of prolonging it. Initially of course it is three months, but after three months we can ask for a second three-month period and extend it.”
“My nation, my people, shouldn't have the slightest concern,” he added. “Everything is on track and the state of emergency is simply for the purpose of the healthy functioning of our democratic institutions. Our public institutions will function more smoothly."
Under its state of emergency, Turkey can hold suspects in detention without charge for up to 30 days before being taken to a judge to decide whether to remand them in custody.
On Saturday, Erdogan ordered the closure of 1,043 private schools, 1,229 charities and foundations, 19 trade unions, 15 universities and 35 medical institutions, Anadolu said.
All the institutions are suspected of having links to Gülen.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (Turkish pronunciation: [ɾeˈd͡ʒep tajˈjip ˈæɾdo.an]; born 26 February 1954) is the 12th and current President of Turkey, in office since 2014. He previously served as the Prime Minister of Turkey from 2003 to 2014 and as the Mayor of İstanbul from 1994 to 1998. He founded the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in 2001 and led it to three general election victories in 2002, 2007 and 2011 before standing down as leader upon his election as President in 2014. Originating from an Islamist political background and as a self-described conservative democrat, his administration has overseen social conservative and liberal economic policies.
Educated in an Imam Hatip school, Erdoğan was a semi-professional footballer playing for Kasımpaşa Spor Kulübü and was involved in Islamist political movements as a student before being elected as the Mayor of İstanbul from the Islamist Welfare Party in 1994. He was banned form office and sentenced to 10 months in prison for religious intolerance in 1998 and later abandoned openly Islamist politics, establishing the moderate conservative AKP in 2001. Winning just short of a two-thirds parliamentary majority in the 2002 general election, the party's co-founder Abdullah Gül became Prime Minister until his government annulled Erdoğan's ban from political office. Erdoğan subsequently became Prime Minister in March 2003 after winning a seat in a by-election held in Siirt.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan urged people to take to the streets to protest against what he described as a coup attempt by a minority faction within the military, vowing that it would meet with a "necessary response", Reuters reports He told a CNN Turk reporter via cellphone that Turkish people must gather in public squares to show their response to the attempted military takeover, in comments broadcast live on television.
Erdogan said he believed the attempted coup would be over within a "short time" and said those responsible would pay a heavy price in the courts. He said the act was encourage by the "parallel structure" - his shorthand for followers of Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based Muslim cleric who he has repeatedly accused of attempting to foment an uprising among his followers in the judiciary and the military.
"I certainly believe that coup plotters will not succeed," he said, speaking on FaceTime via mobile phone in his first reaction to the move by the Turkish armed forces.
"I urge the Turkish people to convene at public squares and airports. I never believed in a power higher than the power of the people."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told FRANCE 24 that his country’s state of emergency, imposed in the wake of an attempted coup to oust him could be extended until he has rid Turkey’s “institutions of this cancer”.
Turkey launched a sweeping crackdown following the failed July 15 insurrection, declaring a three-month state of emergency and detaining or dismissing 33,000 people in the military and other state institutions.
In the latest measures, the government revoked nearly 11,000 passports and detained 283 members of the presidential guard, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Turkey alleges that the coup attempt by some military units, in which 246 people were killed, was conceived by Fethullah Gülen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since the late 1990s.
“They [the coup leaders] were given instructions from Pennsylvania, and they are starting to confess,” Erdogan said in an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24. “They even tried to get the army chief of staff, who was being held hostage, to speak to Gülen directly.”
Gülen has denied any prior knowledge of the coup attempt.
“We have been confronted with separatist terrorist organisations for years, 45,000 people have died,” Erdogan said. “We will continue operations against these separatists. We have to rid our institutions of this cancer.”
Erdogan justified the imposition of a state of emergency, with probable extensions, noting that France’s own state of emergency, imposed after the November 13, 2015 Paris attacks, has been extended for another six months.
“There is no obstacle in terms of prolonging it. Initially of course it is three months, but after three months we can ask for a second three-month period and extend it.”
“My nation, my people, shouldn't have the slightest concern,” he added. “Everything is on track and the state of emergency is simply for the purpose of the healthy functioning of our democratic institutions. Our public institutions will function more smoothly."
Under its state of emergency, Turkey can hold suspects in detention without charge for up to 30 days before being taken to a judge to decide whether to remand them in custody.
On Saturday, Erdogan ordered the closure of 1,043 private schools, 1,229 charities and foundations, 19 trade unions, 15 universities and 35 medical institutions, Anadolu said.
All the institutions are suspected of having links to Gülen.

Erdogan- Army to be restructured after coup
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told Reuters on Thursday that there were significant intelligence failures ahead of last week's attempted military coup and that the armed forces would quickly be restructured and have "fresh blood".
In his first interview since declaring a state of emergency following last Friday's abortive coup, Erdogan said a new coup attempt was possible, but would not be easy, saying "we are more vigilant".
"It is very clear that there were significant gaps and deficiencies in our intelligence, there is no point trying to hide it or deny it. I told it to the head of national intelligence," Erdogan told Reuters in his palace in Ankara, which was targeted during the coup attempt.
Erdogan accuses Fethullah Gulen, a charismatic U.S.-based cleric and former ally, of masterminding the plot, which crumbled early on Saturday. In a crackdown on Gulen's suspected followers, more than 60,000 soldiers, police, judges, civil servants and educators have been suspended, detained or placed under investigation.
Erdogan said a meeting of the Supreme Military Council (YAS), the top body overseeing the armed forces, which had been due on Aug. 1, may be brought forward by a week to oversee the restructuring. The Council is chaired by the prime minister, and includes the defence minister and the chief of staff.
"They are all working together as to what might be done, and ... within a very short amount of time a new structure will be emerging. With this new structure, I believe the armed forces will get fresh blood," Erdogan said.
"After all that has come to pass, I think they must now have drawn very important lessons. This is an ongoing process, we will never stop, we will continue very actively, we have plans."
Erdogan, the most dominant political figure on the Turkish stage since Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the modern republic, and who has had a winning streak of more than 10 election victories, has been at war with his former ally for several years.
Asked whether the abortive coup had derailed his plans to change the constitution and bolster his powers by making Turkey a full presidential system, he avoided a direct answer, but said a "more limited" package of constitutional amendments could be agreed with the opposition.
He said the fact that some of members of parliament had not voted in favour of the state of emergency, despite the difficulties in the country, was "food for thought", and showed the need for building consensus with opposition parties.
"If we can achieve consensus ... we might take it to the people in the form of a referendum", he said of a possible package on constitutional reforms.
INITIAL DISBELIEF
Erdogan said there was no obstacle to extending the state of emergency beyond the initial three months if necessary. It would allow his government to take swift measures against supporters of the coup and will permit the president and cabinet to bypass parliament in enacting new laws and to limit or suspend rights and freedoms as they deem necessary.
"This state of emergency is not a curfew. People will still be on the street minding their own business and getting on with daily life", he said.
He looked calm and composed throughout the interview, but security was heightened inside and out his vast palace complex, with police special forces in the gardens and city dump trucks blocking access roads at impromptu checkpoints.
The lights at the palace, which usually illuminate the night sky, have been dimmed in recent days.
Erdogan, describing how events unfolded on the night of the coup attempt, while he was on holiday with his family near the coastal resort of Marmaris, he said he had initially not believed a phone call from his brother-in-law informing him that soldiers had started blocking streets in Istanbul.
He was initially unable to reach the head of the armed forces or the head of the national intelligence agency, and after some difficulty was able to contact the prime minister, he said.
After appealing to supporters by dialling in to broadcasters on a cellphone, Erdogan received reports that people were taking to the streets and decided he needed to move

Dans un entretien exclusif accordé à France 24 vendredi, depuis le palais présidentiel à Ankara, le chef d’État turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan a réitéré sa volonté de débarrasser son pays "de la secte des assassins" de Fethullah Gülen, l’imam exilé aux États-Unis, désigné comme le chef de file du putsch militaire raté.
3Il y a eu cette tentative de coup d’État et on sait qui se cache derrière cette tentative. Ils seront jugés et les différents tribunaux permettront d’établir que Fethullah Gülen est à la tête de cette organisation", a-t-il assuré. Et d’ajouter pour étayer son accusation : "Ils ont commencé à avouer, et ils avouent d’où leur sont venues les instructions, de Gülen".
"Je le dis pour la première fois, sur France 24, lorsque le chef d'état major était retenu en otage, un de ses ravisseurs lui a proposé de parler au téléphone avec son leader, Fethullah Gülen", a-t-il poursuivi.
"Éradiquer le virus"
En ce qui concerne la demande d’extradition de son ancien mentor, il a reproché aux États-Unis de continuer à exiger "des preuves et documents" pointant vers une responsabilité de Fethullah Gülen. "Nous le ferons très rapidement, et d’ici une dizaine de jours, à la suite des procédures judiciaires et des premiers aveux, nous enverrons les documents", a-t-il indiqué, tout en rappelant que la Turquie avait toujours répondu favorablement aux demandes d’extraditions américaines, de "criminels ou de terroristes", sans que jamais Washington "ne donne de document".

Le président turc a en outre annoncé que la purge, en cours dans le pays, allait se poursuivre jusqu’à "l’éradication du virus", accusant les partisans de l’imam Gülen, de s’être notamment infiltrés, comme "un cancer qui s’est métastasé", dans "quasiment" tous les ministères, dans les forces armées et dans les institutions étatiques.
"Il s’agit donc de nettoyer cette structure sale, cette structure terroriste, de nos institutions, le prix à payer sera très lourd" a averti le président Erdogan, en précisant que l’instauration de l’état d’urgence allait permettre à son gouvernement de prendre un grand nombre de mesures "afin de résoudre ce problème".
Si elles n'ont aucune certitude concernant l'extradition de Fethullah Gülen, les autorités turques ont en revanche arrêté un neveu du prédicateur en exil, rapporte samedi l'agence de presse publique Anatolie. Arrêté dans le nord-est du pays, Muhammed Sait Gülen devait être conduit à Ankara pour y être entendu et pourrait être mis en examen pour participation à une organisation terroriste, précise l'agence de presse. Il s'agit du premier membre de la famille de Fethullah Gülen arrêté depuis l'échec du soulèvement d'une partie de l'armée.
Erdogan dénonce les "préjugés" européens envers la Turquie
Recep Tayyip Erdogan refuse, par ailleurs, de condamner les violences dont ont été victimes certains soldats putschistes lynchés par la foule quelques heures après la tentative de coup d’État, dont les images ont fait le tour du monde. "Il s’agit d’un face-à-face entre des terroristes déguisés en militaires, des membres de l’organisation terroriste armée de Gülen, et de mes citoyens, plaide-t-il. On ne peut pas attaquer des civils avec des chars, sachant que ces citoyens n’avaient que le drapeau turc à la main, ou parfois un bâton. Comment peut-on comparer les deux choses !"
Interrogé sur les critiques qui vise sa politique de purge ciblant ceux qui sont considérés comme des putschistes, et sur les inquiétudes exprimées au sein de l’Union européenne sur des éventuelles dérives autoritaires pendant l’état d’urgence, décrété le 21 juillet pour 3 mois, voire sur la possible rétablissement de la peine de mort, le président turc s’est montré très ferme.
"Les critiques occidentales ne m’intéressent pas, je ne les écoute pas, a-t-il commencé par dire. Aucun de ces pays n’a vécu ce que nous avons vécu, ils n’ont pas été confronté à une tentative de putsch visant à détruire l’État".
