I am grateful to Laitma's site for the original material, specially the wonderful E-language subtitles (wish we had more!). 1964 大闹天宫 Havoc in Heaven English Subtitled Part 1 of 11et. I have made no changes and claim no credit: what I have done is to take advantage of Youtube's full-movie length upload capability, which wasn't there in 2009 when he (?) first uploaded. That way if anyone wants to clip a section that rune between 2 of the 11 clips it becomes easy. Thanks again, Laitma - and,keep up the good work! Precis:Sun Wukong ("Monkey") Journeys to Palace of the Dragon King to ask for the use of a weapon [to replace the one he has just broken in practice drill]. The Dragon-King contemptuously recommends that he try out (moving) the magic iron pole that keeps the seas under control. But, surprising everyone with his great ingenuity, Sun refashions that iron pole/post into a gold-hooped cudgel, a perfect weapon for his use. Regretting his overhastiness, the Dragon King hastens to the Palace of the Jade Emperor to request that Sun be arrested. But court minister Li Chenggeng suggests pacification instead, and arranges for Sun to be put in charge of the Imperial Stables But unfooled by the secret trick, Sun wreaks havoc in the Imperial Horse Pen, then escapes back to his (primordial home) at Flower-Fruit Mountain [he seems to be a herbivore], where he sets up his slogan as "the Heaven-[i.e. all-under Heaven-] levelling Great Sage. Whereupon Li Changgeng [the wise minister] must make another journey to Flower-Fruit Mountain, where he fakes an invitation to a banquet of the Immortality-bestowing Peaches [at the Jade Emp. Palace]. But when Sun Wukong arrives at the Palace he learns from the words of a Female Immortal nűxian that he has not been invited to the banquet. Greatly enraged, Sun roils the Jade Pond and eats his fill of golddust pills. Next, the Jade Emperor dispatches the Divinity Erlang to arrest Sun Wukong, but because Sun has eaten of the Golden Pills, his ribs are as steel and his bones as iron, and no sword or spear can do him harm. Next the Jade Emperor has Sun dispatched to Eight Trigrams Furnace belonging to the Old Lord Taishang (Excelsis), in order to have Sun's armature melted down. But in the end (as before) Sun nimbly jumps out from the furnace (and again escapes). (So), next (as final resort) the emperor concentrates all his armies under the command of Heavenly King Li to do final battle with Su Wukong. But only to suffer a great defeat in the face of Sun's ingenuity (trickiness) and bravery. In victory Sun then takes his army of massed young apes carrying him aloft back to their home on Flower-Fruit Mountain, singing a song of triumph
