The Miss Louisiana USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Louisiana in the Miss USA pageant.
Louisiana is one of the most successful states at Miss USA and is one of only seven states to have three or more Miss USA winners (in 1958, 1961, and 1996).
Four Miss Louisiana USA titleholders previously held the Miss Louisiana Teen USA title, including Ali Landry, who became the third woman from Louisiana to be crowned Miss USA.
Jennifer Dupont, Miss Louisiana USA 2000, is one of only seven women who have competed in the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss America pageants.
Louisiana's future success at Miss USA would be evident in the state's first contestant, Jeanne Vaughn Thompson, Miss Louisiana USA 1952 and 1953. She is the only woman to ever compete twice in the history of Miss USA. Thompson also holds the distinction of being the only woman to outright win a Miss USA state title twice, and until 1996, was the only two-time Miss USA state titleholder (a 44-year record). Shanna Lyn Searles became the second and only other double state titleholder, upon winning the Miss California USA title outright in 1996, after inheriting the state's 1992 title as a result of Shannon Marketic being crowned Miss USA 1992.
Thompson's overall pageant success -- winning the Miss Louisiana state title and competing at Miss America in 1951, winning the first two Miss Louisiana USA state titles, and competing in the first and second Miss USA national pageants (becoming the first-ever 1st runner-up in 1952, and a semi-finalist and the Miss Congeniality winner in 1953) -- prompted Miss USA organizers to create a rule only allowing a person to compete for the national title once.
Louisiana contestants accomplished another feat first, winning both the first-ever Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic awards given to a Miss USA state delegate. Thompson was the winner of the Miss Congeniality award given to the first Miss USA state contestant in 1953.
The second Miss Congeniality award given also went to another contestant from Louisiana, Judy Fletcher in 1960. That year, during the era when both Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants were held at the same time, Fletcher tied with a Miss Universe contestant from Burma for the award.
Sharon Brown, who represented Louisiana in 1961, won the first Miss Photogenic award given to a Miss USA state delegate. She also won the Miss USA title, the first Miss Photogenic winner to obtain that feat.
Louisiana is one of only two states (California the other) to have won both the Miss USA title and the Miss Photogenic award in the same year on two separate occasions (Brown in 1961 and Landry in 1996).
Miss Louisiana USA is produced by RPM Productions, which also produces the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA state pageants for Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. RPM Productions' headquarters is in Aiken, South Carolina.
The current titleholder is Maaliyah Papillion, a native of Lake Charles.

Brittany Guidry, a 21 year old Houma native, is Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany, was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana. Her parents are Craig and Vickie Guidry, and she has one sibling, Matthew Guidry.
Brittany graduated Vandebilt Catholic High School in 2011. Shortly after graduating she moved to Lafayette to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where majored in Public Relations. She took a break from her degree to pursue a modeling career and to prepare for Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany plans on returning to school to finish her degree in the future.
Brittany entered her first pageant at the age of 15. After watching her cousin, Michelle Berthelot, win Miss Louisiana USA in 2008, Brittany knew she wanted the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2009 title. She competed the following year and won on her first try. She returned to pageantry this year and was crowned Miss Louisiana USA 2014 after winning the regional Miss Florida Parishes USA title.
Brittany plans to work closely with the USO, Wounded Warrior Project, and several other organizations throughout her reign. Her goal as Miss Louisiana USA 2014 is to be a positive influence in the lives of many by speaking to boys and girls around the state about the power of positive thinking! Brittany also looks forward to working with her sponsors, the RPM team, family and friends to prepare for next her goal, Miss USA 2014!

listen); Louisiana Creole: Léta de la Lwizyàn) is a state located in the southern region of the United States of America. Louisiana is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital is Baton Rouge and largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are local governments equivalent to counties. The largest parish by population is East Baton Rouge Parish, and the largest by land area is Cameron Parish.
Much of the state was formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp. These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibis and egrets. There are also many species of tree frogs, and fish such as sturgeon and paddlefish. In more elevated areas, fire is a natural process in the landscape, and has produced extensive areas of longleaf pine forest and wet savannas. These support an exceptionally large number of plant species including many species of orchids and carnivorus plants.

Louisiana contestants accomplished another feat first, winning both the first-ever Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic awards given to a Miss USA state delegate. Thompson was the winner of the Miss Congeniality award given to the first Miss USA state contestant in 1953.
The second Miss Congeniality award given also went to another contestant from Louisiana, Judy Fletcher in 1960. That year, during the era when both Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants were held at the same time, Fletcher tied with a Miss Universe contestant from Burma for the award.
Sharon Brown, who represented Louisiana in 1961, won the first Miss Photogenic award given to a Miss USA state delegate. She also won the Miss USA title, the first Miss Photogenic winner to obtain that feat.
Louisiana is one of only two states (California the other) to have won both the Miss USA title and the Miss Photogenic award in the same year on two separate occasions (Brown in 1961 and Landry in 1996).
Miss Louisiana USA is produced by RPM Productions, which also produces the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA state pageants for Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. RPM Productions' headquarters is in Aiken, South Carolina.

Brittany Guidry

Brittany Guidry, a 21 year old Houma native, is Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany, was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana. Her parents are Craig and Vickie Guidry, and she has one sibling, Matthew Guidry.
Brittany graduated Vandebilt Catholic High School in 2011. Shortly after graduating she moved to Lafayette to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where majored in Public Relations. She took a break from her degree to pursue a modeling career and to prepare for Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany plans on returning to school to finish her degree in the future.
Brittany entered her first pageant at the age of 15. After watching her cousin, Michelle Berthelot, win Miss Louisiana USA in 2008, Brittany knew she wanted the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2009 title. She competed the following year and won on her first try. She returned to pageantry this year and was crowned Miss Louisiana USA 2014 after winning the regional Miss Florida Parishes USA title.

Brittany Guidry, a 21 year old Houma native, is Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany, was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana. Her parents are Craig and Vickie Guidry, and she has one sibling, Matthew Guidry.
Brittany graduated Vandebilt Catholic High School in 2011. Shortly after graduating she moved to Lafayette to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where majored in Public Relations. She took a break from her degree to pursue a modeling career and to prepare for Miss Louisiana USA 2014. Brittany plans on returning to school to finish her degree in the future.
Brittany entered her first pageant at the age of 15. After watching her cousin, Michelle Berthelot, win Miss Louisiana USA in 2008, Brittany knew she wanted the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2009 title. She competed the following year and won on her first try. She returned to pageantry this year and was crowned Miss Louisiana USA 2014 after winning the regional Miss Florida Parishes USA title.

On the way to work, Hwy 41 north of Pearl River, LA in heavy rain. The traffic was backed up behind a slow moving 18 wheeler. To slippery and raining too hard for me to pass. There was a line of traffic behind me when I noticed a set of headlights. It was a truck passing a long line of traffic. It was about 7AM, so I suspect this guy was late for work. I saw him coming up the left and I reached up and touched record on my phone that was setting on a holder on my dash. Watch the very first part closely. The oncoming vehicle passed between me and the guy that was passing because he took the paved shoulder. This is very dangerous because it is instinctive for an oncoming vehicle to go to the shoulder when someone is passing without room. See for yourselves... -
