Anthony Louis "Tony" Barber AM (born 28 March 1940) is an English-born Australian television game show host.
He is a Gold Logie winning television personality.
Barber was born in Oldham in the English county of Lancashire. He has said that he "owes much of his enthusiastic and driving personality to a loving Irish grandma and a whole street full of Aunties who kept the spirits high during the dark years of World War 2." He moved with his family to Australia in 1947 and was educated by the Sisters of Mercy and the Christian Brothers.
Barber attended Brittania Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, graduating in 1960, and beginning his media career as a cadet announcer at radio station 6GE in Geraldton in 1961. In his own words:
By the end of 1962, Barber was a leading Perth radio announcer as well as the star of a weekly floor show at the Charles Hotel and another twice-weekly event at the Lido Coral Room where he performed impressions of Johnny Mathis and Paul Anka. Before leaving Western Australia for New South Wales he also appeared in a number of plays with the Scarborough players.
Entertainment reporter Craig Bennett sat down with Gold Logie winner Tony Barber for an exclusive interview. Lets take a look at the life of Game Show host Tony Barber, and look at his family and a personal tragedy he had and how his faith helped him out. Note: I was under the gun for the 10 min limit. The Entire clip I have is around 12 minutes, and I couldn't fit it all in.

General episode - Friday, December 20, 1996 Featuring Barbara, Paul and Caroline Also features Bridget Adams filling in for Adriana Xenides This is the final episode that went to air with Tony Barber as host. At the end of the episode there is talk of returning the following week for Christmas, but in the credits is the special thank you credits to Tony, Bridget and Ron E Sparks along with Christmas wishes to the audience, leading us to assume that episodes following that were taped but never aired. Rob Elliott would make his debut about a fortnight later on January 6, 1997 with Tony handing the show over to him. You may even notice a couple of nuances of 1997 in this episode. Thank you also to Jason Scott for the episode.
In mid 1996 - the long-standing partnership between John Burgess and Adriana Xenedis on the Australian version of "Wheel of Fortune" was broken in a shakeup which brought production of the show from Adelaide to Sydney, a brand new set, theme and rules, and new stewardship of the show in the way of Tony Barber. It was a change which proved to be disastrous for the show's ratings, which plummeted dramatically as a result and led to more rule and host changes only 6 months later. Judge the show for yourself.

Experience a sit down hair cut in one of western North Carolina's most popular old school barber shops. Sain's in downtown Morganton, NC is an institution - a place where you can chat with the friendliest barbers you'll ever find, get a great trim or shave, and even play a guitar, banjo, fiddle or mandolin if the urge strikes you. Kelvin Phillips cut my hair on this occasion, and local character Jonathan Ross makes several interesting and unexpected appearances.
When using the term ARTREPRENEUR, Tony Barber fits the description better than any other guest in the history of this show. He has a gigantic arsenal of artistic experience under his lifetime belt of creativity- including rocking out in Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs & other music endeavors; designing and inventing non-stop toys and products including the revolutionary ARTristic Easel , the soft toy version of Bananas In Pajamas; the new paper craft Rose Twirler tool, and the Cut N Hold tape dispenser He is a Children’s TV Presenter and has also authored over 30 children's books, craft books, short stories and poems, and successfully sold a dead seagull in a box to 699 kids at school as his first entrepreneurial experience… and this is just to name a FEW ☺ Oh yea- we can’t forget the Explod...
This 60 min. special was made in 1995 as it celebrated the shows 15th anniversary which began on the 14th of July 1980. The shows retrospective includes then current host and model Glenn Ridge & Nicky Buckley, Temptation and first host Tony Barber and announcer Peter Smith. This look back includes: the models, Campions, funny moments, a look at the international versions, and a special appearance by Reg Grundy, the shows Founder. If you watch till the end of the show, the credits include a rap.... I would not recommend watching it, but I included it. You have been warned.
