J.D. Power & Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS) looks at problems experienced by new car owners during the first 90 days of ownership. Kias have fewer problems over 8 categories than Jaguar, BMW, Lexus, Hyundai, and Fiat. While Japanese cars used to be the automotive powerhouse, Kia is quickly raising the bar.
Kia vehicles placed in the top 3 best cars in 6 categories: Small Car; Midsize Car; Large Car; Small SUV; Compact MPV; Midsized SUV. In three of those categories Kia was also the most affordable option. The Kia Soul is the #1 IQS Compact MPV pick. The Kia Sorento is the top IQS Midsized SUV. Great quality, affordable prices.

El estudio de calidad otorga a Kia el premio de marca más fiable en Estados Unidos, desbancando después de 27 años a las marcas premium. Porsche y Hyundai siguen muy de cerca a la firma coreana, mientras que Smart y Volvo obtienen los peores resultados de la tabla.
J.D Power ha elaborado un año más su ranking de fiabilidad con las marcas vendidas en Estados Unidos. Después de 27 años de hegemonía por parte de los fabricantes premium, Kia se ha convertido en la marca más fiable del mercado norteamericano, seguida muy de cerca de Porsche y Hyundai, la otra marca del grupo coreano.
El informe se basa en los problemas presentados por cada 100 vehículos durante los 90 días siguientes a su compra. El objetivo es conseguir la menor puntuación posible, lo cual indica un menor índice de problemas reportados por los clientes, y en este sentido la marca ganadora ha sido Kia, presentando 83 problemas por cada 100 coches vendidos. Inmediatamente después encontramos a Porsche, muy arraigada en el mercado estadounidense, cuya puntuación asciende a 84; mientras que Hyundai, perteneciente al mismo grupo empresarial que Kia, ha obtenido 92 puntos en el ranking.
El resto del top 10 está compuesto por Toyota (93 puntos), un habitual en los primeros puestos de este tipo de informes, BMW (94 puntos), Chevrolet (95 puntos), Buick (96 puntos), Lexus (96 puntos), Lincoln (96 puntos) y Nissan(101 puntos).
