Mermaid Skeleton in National Museum in Copenhagen
Mermaids are real You thought the only mermaid in Copenhagen was the Little Mermaid down by the harbour? The Danish National Museum is here to prove you wrong. In fact, it has on display theA mermaid skeleton in the Danish National Museum skeleton of the Haraldskaer mermaid, discovered by a farmer while ploughing his field. (Click on the photo to see it larger.) The description says she was likely a member of the Asian branch of the mermaid family, which makes her a rare find in Europe — rare indeed!
According to the narrative, the Haraldskaer mermaid was about 18 years old, with long, thick hair and long, sharp canines. She had a purse containing a shark’s tooth, a snake’s tail, a mussel shell and a flower. The skeleton is complete, though she’s missing one hand — or possibly a fin.

The National Museum of Singapore is the oldest museum in Singapore. Its history dates back to 1849 when it was started as a section of a library at Singapore Institution. After several relocations, the Museum was relocated to its permanent site at Stamford Road at the Museum Planning Area in 1887. The museum focuses on exhibits related to the history of Singapore.
The Museum is one of the four national museums in the country, the other three being the two Asian Civilisations Museums and the Singapore Art Museum. The Museum was named the National Museum of Singapore in 1965. For a brief period between 1993 and 2006, it was known as the Singapore History Museum, before reverting back to its previous name. The Museum underwent a three-and-a-half-year restoration and reopened on 2006, with the Singapore History Gallery opening on the same year.
The Singapore History Gallery is 2800 metre square gallery located whithin the vicinity of the National Museum of Singapore.The gallery adopts a story-telling approach unveiling different perspectives through tales of the past. Instead of using museum labels to describe artefacts, the gallery uses an audio tour device known as the companion to guide visitors around the gallery. Each Companion comprise of an LCD display, a pair of earphones and a keypad which enables guest to enjoy audio, visual and textual content which complement the National Museum's physical collection of artefacts.
The museum used to house a vast collection of zoological items, but were transferred to the National University of Singapore and other museums in the Commonwealth. It currently has eleven precious artifacts, including the Singapore Stone.

The Museum was named the National Museum of Singapore in 1965. For a brief period between 1993 and 2006, it was known as the Singapore History Museum, before reverting back to its previous name. The Museum underwent a three-and-a-half-year restoration and reopened on 2006, with the Singapore History Gallery opening on the same year.
The Singapore History Gallery is 2800 metre square gallery located whithin the vicinity of the National Museum of Singapore.The gallery adopts a story-telling approach unveiling different perspectives through tales of the past. Instead of using museum labels to describe artefacts, the gallery uses an audio tour device known as the companion to guide visitors around the gallery. Each Companion comprise of an LCD display, a pair of earphones and a keypad which enables guest to enjoy audio, visual and textual content which complement the National Museum's physical collection of artefacts.
The museum used to house a vast collection of zoological items, but were transferred to the National University of Singapore and other museums in the Commonwealth. It currently has eleven precious artifacts, including the Singapore Stone.

Five zones bring together extensive photographic, audio and video archive material from National Museums Northern Ireland, the Imperial War Museum, National Library of Ireland, and PRONI; 2.5D animations, interactive iPads and free graphic novels; a news feed and ‘Tweets’ telling stories from the time; and contemporary artwork reflecting on the exhibition themes.
Seen for the first time, the exhibition features diaries and drawings by Newry nurse Olive Swanzy, who cared for soldiers on the Western Front, and Jim Mault said, who served with the 14th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles and was seriously wounded on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Art works include a giant handmade drone ‘war rug’ commissioned by Dublin-based artist Jim Ricks and made by a family in Kabul, Afghanistan, which visitors will be able to sit on; ‘Armoured Pram for Derry’ by Eamon O’Doherty; and a new audio installation by Ceara Conway.
The exhibition is led by the Nerve Centre, delivered in partnership with National Museums Northern Ireland, and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Department for Communities, Community Relations Council and the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade.
