The Story Project tells the story of the first Aboriginal Legal Service in Australia, following its path from its beginning to where we are today. It is not one story, but many - told in the voices of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who worked together to achieve greater justice for our people. We thank the generosity of all those who shared their stories, passing them on to our younger generation and to the wider Australian community. The Story Project is an initiative of the Board of the ALS to celebrate 40 years of service to our community. Mel Ignatow (March 26, 1938 – September 1, 2008) was a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, who murdered his girlfried, Brenda Sue Schaeffer, in 1988. The case was controversial because Ignatow was acquitted of the charge, but photographs that proved his guilt were uncovered after the trial. Under the legal principle of double jeopardy, however, Ignatow could not be tried a second time for the murder. He was, however, convicted and jailed for perjury in his grand jury testimony for the case on several occasions. Intending to murder Schaeffer, he worked with a f...

Stacey Ann Lannert (born May 28, 1972, St. Louis, Missouri) was serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for the murder of her father, Tom Lannert. On January 10, 2009, outgoing Missouri Governor Matt Blunt commuted her sentence, and that of another woman convicted under similar circumstances. Lannert's new sentence of 20 years made her eligible for immediate conditional release. She was released on January 16, 2009. "After an exhaustive review of the facts in both cases, I am commuting the sentences of Stacey Lannert and Charity Carey, who suffered extensive abuse before they took action against the men who raped them and subjected them to other horrible physical and emotional abuse." At the age of 18, in the town of St. John, Missouri, Lannert shot her father twice. Later...

Jim also known as Rishi Yogadhi Pragya in India and in spiritual circles, is a visionary, health educator, author, teacher and inventor. From the age of four he had unusual spiritual experiences of the past and the future and was sometimes found even at that early age innocently absorbed quietly in meditation. These experiences as they became stronger along with the deep empathy he felt with others led to a turbulent youth. At the age of twenty-one he formally discovered meditation. Inspired by the illuminating experiences that came, subsequently he taught this meditation and other health and advanced personal development techniques to many thousands of individuals in the United States and other countries around the world. During this time he was a founder of two spiritual communitie...
We always have to keep in mind that a Documentary, after all, can tell lies and it can tell lies because it lays claim to a form of veracity which fiction doesn't. Some of the documentaries are made just to discredit some particular person, party, organization, system etc, but most of them here on TDF are non biased, without prejudice and worth watching.
