CAROLINE: Title II of the ADA applies to “public entities” and what they must do to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people. It means one of three things (1) any state or local government; (2) any department, etc., under a state or local government (for example, police, state-run hospitals, state-run universities, etc.); and (3) any “commuter authority” (this covers public transit). The language of Title II says that public entities shall not discriminate against any qualified individual with a disability. There are more rules under Title II that explain that discriminate means refusing to ensure effective communication, refusing to change policies to match people with disabilities, refusing to remove obstacles that prevent people with disabilities (usually wheelchairs) from moving around, and any other kind of discrimination (e.g., treating somebody worse because they are blind). The “effective communication” provision in Title II is special. In Title III, the ADA requires businesses to provide what a deaf person needs for effective communication (e.g., writing, interpreter, CART, etc.). But it doesn’t require the business to ask the deaf person their opinion or to follow what they say. Title II has different rules, and it requires public entities to ask the deaf person their opinion and to provide that choice if possible. Two different federal agencies are responsible to make sure that public entities comply with Title II: the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Department of Transportation (DOT). The DOJ looks at general public entities, such as police, prisons, hospitals, universities, etc. The DOT looks transportation issues, such as buses or trains not being accessible. If a person with a disability complains to the DOJ or DOT about discrimination, each agency has the power to investigate and punish the public entity.

The Hampton Roads Disabilities Board (HRDB) held a training forum on Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), June 29-30, 2015, at the Regional Board Room at the HRPDC offices, 723 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
Title II applies to State and local government entities, and, in subtitle A, protects qualified individuals with disabilities from discrimination on the basis of disability in services, programs, and activities provided by State and local government entities.
The second day of training, June 30th, was designed for State and Local workers, including subcontractors and developers. The day-long training included information on making buildings and other environments accessible, as well as access to services, alterations and new construction.

II & III
II & III is a 1986 album by musical group Camper Van Beethoven, released on Pitch-a-Tent and Rough Trade. It was the band's second album.
After releasing their debut album, original drummer Anthony Guess left the band, and guitarist Greg Lisher joined. With the band temporarily lacking a drummer, guitarist Chris Molla played many of the drum parts on 'II & III', with singer/rhythm guitarist David Lowery playing some of the drum parts as well. As the album was being finished, they finally found a permanent replacement for Guess with Chris Pedersen, who ended up playing on only one song, "We're a Bad Trip."
The album also found violinist/multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Segel singing lead vocals for the first time, on the tracks "Chain of Circumstance" and "We're a Bad Trip," the latter which featured him and Lowery trading verses.
II & III found the band already moving past the mixture of faux ethnic instrumentals and absurdist folk-pop-punk tunes of their debut album, for an even more eclectic sound, including elements of Americana, psychedelia, and Middle-Eastern music. Molla played steel guitar on some songs, and Segel played mandolin, adding to the country influences. There are relatively fewer instrumentals, with the vocal songs taking on many of the ethnic elements that were contained on the debut album's instrumental numbers.

Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act
The Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act or JOBS Act, is a law intended to encourage funding of United States small businesses by easing various securities regulations. It passed with bipartisan support, and was signed into law by President Barack Obama on April 5, 2012. The term "The JOBS Act" is also sometimes used informally to refer to just Titles II and III of the legislation which are the two most important pieces to much of the equity crowdfunding and startup community. Title II went into effect on September 23, 2013. On October 30, 2015, the SEC adopted final rules allowing Title III equity crowdfunding. The final rules and forms are effective May 16, 2016.
Legislative history
In November 2011, the House passed several bills aimed at economic revitalization, including Small Company Capital Formation (H.R. 1070), Entrepreneur Access to Capital (H.R. 2930), and Access to Capital for Job Creators (H.R. 2940). The Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act was introduced by Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and revised in collaboration with Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). Informed by the Crowdfunding exemption movement and endorsed by the White House, it was the first U.S. bill designed to create a regulatory exemption for crowdfunded securities.

Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a law that was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990. In 1986, the National Council on Disability had recommended enactment of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and drafted the first version of the bill which was introduced in the House and Senate in 1988. It was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H. W. Bush, amended and signed by President George W. Bush with changes effective January 1, 2009.
The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that is intended to protect against discrimination based on disability. It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal. In addition, unlike the Civil Rights Act, the ADA also requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities, and imposes accessibility requirements on public accommodations.

Disability discrimination act
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, a number of countries have passed laws aimed at reducing discrimination against people with disabilities. These laws have begun to appear as the notion of civil rights has become more influential globally, and follow other forms of anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation aimed at preventing racial discrimination and sexism which began to emerge in the second half of the 20th century. Many of these Acts aim to reduce barriers for persons with disabilities in the areas of customer service, employment, built environment, transportation, and information and communications.

CAROLINE: Title II of the ADA applies to “public entities” and what they must do to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people. It means one of three things (1) any state or local government; (2) any department, etc., under a state or local government (for example, police, state-run hospitals, state-run universities, etc.); and (3) any “commuter authority” (this covers public transit). The language of Title II says that public entities shall not discriminate against any qualified individual with a disability. There are more rules under Title II that explain that discriminate means refusing to ensure effective communication, refusing to change policies to match people with disabilities, refusing to remove obstacles that prevent people with disabilities (usually wheelchairs) from moving around, and any other kind of discrimination (e.g., treating somebody worse because they are blind). The “effective communication” provision in Title II is special. In Title III, the ADA requires businesses to provide what a deaf person needs for effective communication (e.g., writing, interpreter, CART, etc.). But it doesn’t require the business to ask the deaf person their opinion or to follow what they say. Title II has different rules, and it requires public entities to ask the deaf person their opinion and to provide that choice if possible. Two different federal agencies are responsible to make sure that public entities comply with Title II: the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Department of Transportation (DOT). The DOJ looks at general public entities, such as police, prisons, hospitals, universities, etc. The DOT looks transportation issues, such as buses or trains not being accessible. If a person with a disability complains to the DOJ or DOT about discrimination, each agency has the power to investigate and punish the public entity.

No composer has been able to imagine and express the shades of human spirit and the song of life like James Horner. He is a legend of cinema music. These are just some of the tracks from my favorite albums or ones he’s most known for, with a theme of endings, or journeys or love, and mostly slower songs. The volume varies across so many eclectic tracks. The James Horner canon has many moments of action, terror, suspense, redemption, rage, love, joy and awe as well as sadness. Since I was a kid, his irreplaceable scores have meant more to me than I can say. Some of these movies I have never seen but love the soundtrack—that says a lot about the magic of Horner’s gift. No composer has been able to imagine and express the shades of human spirit and the song of life like James Horner. He is a legend of cinema music.
These are just some of the tracks from my favorite albums or ones he’s most known for, with a theme of endings, or journeys or love, and mostly slower songs. The volume varies across so many eclectic tracks. The James Horner canon has many moments of action, terror, suspense, redemption, rage, love, joy and awe as well as sadness. Since I was a kid, his irreplaceable scores have meant more to me than I can say.
Some of these movies I have never seen but love the soundtrack—that says a lot about the magic of Horner’s gift. Many others are unforgettable thanks largely to his contribution. I feel lucky to live in the time he was scoring films. He will be greatly missed and remembered. James was driven to create and explore, and the world needs more of his kind.
