Five Major League Baseball stars came to London in November 2012 to coach 200 young British baseball stars of the future.
The European Big League Tour is the brainchild of Rick van den Hurk (Pittsburgh Pirates) who brought with him Jeremy Guthrie (Kansas City Royals); Roger Bernadina (Washington Nationals); Chris Dickerson (New York Yankees) and Kalian Sams (Seattle Mariners).
The Tour stopped off in Rotterdam before coming to London for the first time.
FIBS Italia interviewed Mr. Fraccari shortly after the organizing committee of Tokyo 2020 had decided to officially propose baseball and softball for inclusion into the Olympics program. We added English subtitles to help share his thoughts among the international softball/baseball community.

Europe vs. Japan - Baseball, Highlights EuroSport 2 [FULL HD] 4K video
TOKYO, Japan – Players and coaching staff for the newly formed and branded “Europe” continental team arrived in Japan’s capital city on Wednesday and underwent their first-ever training Thursday.
Manager Steve Janssen (Netherlands National Team manager) and Marco Mazzieri (Italy National Team manager) led the European selection through the team's first workout session, ahead of their two-game series against the top-ranked Japanese National Team, scheduled for 10-11 March at the iconic Tokyo Dome.
“It’s a huge honour to be here and great opportunity to showcase European Baseball,” Janssen told a crowd of reporters attending Europe’s initial workout at JR East Ballpark.
When asked what the target is for Europe in its games versus Japan, Janssen said, “We are not here for sightseeing -- we're here to win.”
Janssen spoke highly about the nation that Europe will be making its historic debut against: “The Japanese National Team is the number one [ranked] country in the world…they can do it all. They are the complete package.”
Last November, Japanese National Team manager Hiroki Kokubo guided the Samurai to victory over a selection of Major League Baseball stars in a best-of-five series. Kokubo will have 19 players from that November roster, which was filled with the biggest stars in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), available for national team service against Europe.
The Europe versus Japan Series is being hosted by NPB.
Friday, 6 March: Visit To Fukushima – Four Years Later
Following the team workout session Friday, members of Team Europe will visit the Fukushima region that was devastated on 11 March 2011. The area is still in the process of recovery from the disaster, and the visit is intended to pay tribute and raise awareness of the region’s ongoing recovery efforts.
Saturday, 7 March: Baseball Clinic with School Children
School children will join the team and have the opportunity to play ball and engage with the European players in a one-hour session after Europe’s official team practice.
Sunday, 8 March: Test match vs. Yomiuri Giants minor league team
On Sunday, Team Europe will play a friendly match versus the minor league affiliate of the Yomiuri Giants. Europe’s coaching staff will get its first opportunity to evaluate the team and get in some ‘live’ game experience.
Monday, 9 March: Practice Session And Press Conference
Team Europe’s final workout will take place at QVC Stadium.
Representatives from both Samurai Japan and Team Europe will attend a press conference at QVC Stadium. The time of the press conference is scheduled for 13:00 – 13:30 local time.
Tuesday, 10 March: Europe vs Japan Game 1 – 18:00
Europe will make its debut on the international stage as the visiting team, wearing their road grey jersey.
Photo shoots for both Europe and Japan will also be organized at the Tokyo Dome prior to pre-game batting practice.
Wednesday, 11 March: Europe vs Japan Game 2 – 18:00
Europe will play its first-ever game as the home team, sporting the white jersey. A special Opening Ceremony will be held prior to Game 2 at 17:25.
Broadcast Coverage
Both games of the historic Europe vs Japan Series will be broadcast ‘live’ in Europe via Eurosport 2, in addition to national coverage in Japan.

Před vyprodaným třebíčským stadionem Na Hvězdě nastoupili Češi v úterý 19. července proti Rakousku. Rakušané ze začátku bojovali a povedly se jim dva oběhy, pak však převzali otěže domácí, kteří se zaradovali hned sedmnáctkrát.
Zápasu předcházel zahajovací ceremoniál turnaje, na kterém promluvil Jan Esselman z Evropské baseballové konfederace, hejtman Kraje Vysočina Jiří Běhounek, třebíčský místostarosta Pavel Svoboda a bývalý třebíčský starosta Ivo Uher, za jehož volebního období se stadion Na Hvězdě postavil.
The match between Czech and Austrian national teams was an exhibition for the Czech players. The Austrians achieved two runs at the beginning of the game but then Czechs reversed the score and won the game 17:2.
Before this match the tournament was officialy started by Jan Esselman from the Confederation of European Baseball, the president of the Vysočina Region Jiří Běhounek, the deputy mayor of Třebíč Pavel Svoboda and the former mayor of Třebíč Ivo Uher who was the head of the town when the building of the new Třebíč's arena "Na Hvězdě" started.

A general strike has been organized in Portugal with anti-austerity rallies in 40 towns and cities throughout the country. Transport services have effectively ground to a halt, with only 10 per cent of train services expected to run. Thousands of people are marching in the center of Florence, Italy to protest Prime Minister Mario Monti's austerity measures. A countrywide railway strike has paralyzed Belgium, forcing thousands of commuters to take to already crowded motorways. The disruption includes nigh-speed services to London and Paris. The total of arrests in Spain has now reached 82, according to Spanish police, with 32 people injured, 18 of whom are police officers.. A protester was detained in Malaga in the south of the country after he attacked a police officer outside a bar, reports Spanish publication elMundo.
In France syndicates have organized around 130 rallies against austerity measures and the French government. "This is the first time in the history of the EU that a social movement of this scale will take place simultaneously in a number of countries," said the French General Confederation of Labor in a statement. The European Union is a geo-political entity covering a large portion of the European continent. It is founded upon numerous treaties and has undergone expansions that have taken it from 6 member states to 28, a majority of the states in Europe.
Apart from the ideas of federation, confederation, or customs union, the original development of the European Union was based on a supranational foundation that would "make war unthinkable and materially impossible" and reinforce democracy amongst its member as laid out by Robert Schuman and other leaders in the Schuman Declaration (1950) and the Europe Declaration (1951). The Maastricht Treaty (1992) created the European Union with its pillars system, including foreign and home affairs alongside the European Community. This in turn led to the creation of the single European currency, the euro (launched 1999).

Confederation of European Baseball
The Confederation of European Baseball (French: Confédération Européenne de Baseball, CEB), is the governing body of baseball within Europe. The CEB was founded in 1953 with 5 members, which were Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy and Spain. As of today, there are 38 members, excluding Armenia. In 2010, there were 112,303 players in the CEB countries.
The confederation is responsible for operating the European Baseball Championship, a championship that has been running since 1954 in Europe.
History
In April 1953 in Paris (France), 5 countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) gave birth to the European Baseball Federation, originally named in French Féderation Européenne de Baseball (FEB). The first Executive Committee was formed by President Steno Borghese (Italy), Secretary General Roger Panaye (Belgium) and Vice President and head of the Technical Commission Luis Barrio (Spain).
In 1954 the first European Championship was played in Belgium and Italy claimed the victory.

“It’s a huge honour to be here and great opportunity to showcase European Baseball,” Janssen told a crowd of reporters attending Europe’s initial workout at JR East Ballpark.
When asked what the target is for Europe in its games versus Japan, Janssen said, “We are not here for sightseeing -- we're here to win.”
Janssen spoke highly about the nation that Europe will be making its historic debut against: “The Japanese National Team is the number one [ranked] country in the world…they can do it all. They are the complete package.”
Last November, Japanese National Team manager Hiroki Kokubo guided the Samurai to victory over a selection of Major League Baseball stars in a best-of-five series. Kokubo will have 19 players from that November roster, which was filled with the biggest stars in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), available for national team service against Europe.
The Europe versus Japan Series is being hosted by NPB.
Friday, 6 March: Visit To Fukushima – Four Years Later
Following the team workout session Friday, members of Team Europe will visit the Fukushima region that was devastated on 11 March 2011. The area is still in the process of recovery from the disaster, and the visit is intended to pay tribute and raise awareness of the region’s ongoing recovery efforts.
Saturday, 7 March: Baseball Clinic with School Children
School children will join the team and have the opportunity to play ball and engage with the European players in a one-hour session after Europe’s official team practice.
Sunday, 8 March: Test match vs. Yomiuri Giants minor league team
On Sunday, Team Europe will play a friendly match versus the minor league affiliate of the Yomiuri Giants. Europe’s coaching staff will get its first opportunity to evaluate the team and get in some ‘live’ game experience.
Monday, 9 March: Practice Session And Press Conference
Team Europe’s final workout will take place at QVC Stadium.
Representatives from both Samurai Japan and Team Europe will attend a press conference at QVC Stadium. The time of the press conference is scheduled for 13:00 – 13:30 local time.

November 14, 2012 - EUROPE - Mass anti-austerity rallies are unfolding throughout the EU as thousands of workers voice their rage at crippling government cuts as part of the European Day of Action and Solidarity. General strikes have already begun in Portugal, Greece, Italy and Spain where the EU's financial downturn has hit hardest.
A general strike has been organized in Portugal with anti-austerity rallies in 40 towns and cities throughout the country. Transport services have effectively ground to a halt, with only 10 per cent of train services expected to run. Thousands of people are marching in the center of Florence, Italy to protest Prime Minister Mario Monti's austerity measures. A countrywide railway strike has paralyzed Belgium, forcing thousands of commuters to take to already crowded motorways. The disruption includes nigh-speed services to London and Paris. The total of arrests in Spain has now reached 82, according to Spanish police, with 32 people injured, 18 of whom are police officers.. A protester was detained in Malaga in the south of the country after he attacked a police officer outside a bar, reports Spanish publication elMundo.

Apart from the ideas of federation, confederation, or customs union, the original development of the European Union was based on a supranational foundation that would "make war unthinkable and materially impossible" and reinforce democracy amongst its member as laid out by Robert Schuman and other leaders in the Schuman Declaration (1950) and the Europe Declaration (1951). This principle was at the heart of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) (1951), the Treaty of Paris (1951), and later the Treaty of Rome (1958) which established the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC). Both the ECSC and EEC were later incorporated into the European Union while the EAEC maintains a distinct legal identity despite sharing members and institutions.
The Maastricht Treaty (1992) created the European Union with its pillars system, including foreign and home affairs alongside the European Community. This in turn led to the creation of the single European currency, the euro (launched 1999).

Susanne Hilgefort, one of Major League Baseball's longest-tenured employees and a key figure in the leaps forward for modern baseball broadcasting, was one of three passengers, along with her husband -- Michael Mydlarz -- who died in a small plane crash on Saturday near Albany, N.Y ... She would babysit for their children and "was sort of part of our family" at that time, and he soon gave her a first job in baseball....
