Did Mitt Romney commit voter fraud when he cast a ballot for Scott Brown in last year's special election in Massachusetts? On Monday, one of his lesser known opponents for the GOP presidential nomination, Fred Karger, filed a complaint with Massachusetts state election officials alleging that he voted for Brown, as well as in other Massachusetts elections, when he was not in fact a resident of the Bay State. In his complaint, Karger lays out a chronology of Romney's real estate moves since his failed presidential bid in 2008. According to Karger's timetable, Romney and his wife, Ann, bought a $12.5 million home in La Jolla, California, in May 2008. ("I wanted to be where I could hear the waves," Romney told the AP of his move to the West Coast.) Thereafter, Romney became a regular at California political events, even campaigning for Meg Whitman during her gubernatorial bid. A year later, in April 2009, the Romneys sold their home in Belmont, Massachusetts, for $3.5 million, and registered to vote from an address in the basement of an 8,000 square-foot Belmont manse owned by their son Tagg. But where the Romneys really lived these past couple of years seems to be a bit of a mystery. While Romney was appearing at so many California political events people were speculating he was going to run for office there, the National Journal reported in May 2009 that the Romneys had made their primary residence a $10 million estate in New Hampshire.

Fred's extensive experience in politics and governmental affairs has spanned over 35 years. As a partner of the Dolphin Group, Fred managed numerous federal, state and local campaigns. He ran several successful opposition campaigns, including heavy involvement in three Presidential races.
In 2006 Karger founded Save the Boom!!! a grassroots campaign to save the oldest gay bar in the Western United States, the landmark Boom Boom Room and Coast Inn in Laguna Beach, California. This got Fred active in LGBTQ politics, and was the natural precursor to his starting Californians Against Hate
Californians Against Hate was created to bring public attention to the major donors to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. Fred organized boycotts against four mega-donors to Proposition 8, two were settled and two are ongoing. Proposition 8 passed in a very close election on November 4, 2008, and ended gay marriage in California.
Right after the election, Fred filed a sworn complaint against the Mormon Church with the California Fair Political Practices Commission for possible illegal campaign activities surrounding its massive involvement in Proposition 8. That led to a 19 month investigation, culminating in a 13 count guilty finding against the Salt Lake City based Church.
Fred filed a similar complaint with the Maine Ethics Commission against the infamous National Organization for Marriage, alleging money laundering and reporting irregularities in that state's November 2009 election to repeal its marriage equality law. That investigation is ongoing.
On April 10, 2010 at a press conference at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Fred announced that he was seriously considering running for President in 2012 as an Independent Republican. He would be the first openly gay candidate to run for President of the United States.
Since his announcement Fred has traveled extensively throughout the country, with repeated visits to Iowa and New Hampshire, home to the first caucuses and primary in the nation.

Fred Karger
Fred S. Karger (born January 31, 1950) is an American political consultant, gay rights activist and watchdog, former actor, and former candidate for the Republican nomination for the 2012 US Presidential election. His unsuccessful run for the 2012 Republican nomination for President made him America’s first openly gay presidential candidate from either major political party. Although he has not held elected or public office, Karger has worked on nine presidential campaigns and served as a senior consultant to the campaigns of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and Gerald Ford. Karger was a partner at the Dolphin Group, a California campaign consulting firm. He retired after 27 years and has since worked as an activist on gay rights causes, from protecting the gay bar The Boom to using his organization Californians Against Hate to investigate The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and the National Organization for Marriage's campaigns to repeal the state's same-sex marriage law. His running for the Republican nomination for president made him the first openly gay presidential candidate from a major political party in American history.

Rachel Maddow
Rachel Anne Maddow (
i/ˈmædoʊ/, born April 1, 1973) is an American television host, political commentator, and author. She hosts a nightly television show, The Rachel Maddow Show, on MSNBC. Her syndicated talk radio program of the same name aired on Air America Radio. Maddow is the first openly gay anchor to host a major prime-time news program in the United States. She holds a doctorate in politics from Oxford University.
Asked about her political views by the Valley Advocate, Maddow replied, "I'm undoubtedly a liberal, which means that I'm in almost total agreement with the Eisenhower-era Republican party platform."
Early life and education
Maddow was born in Castro Valley, California. Her father, Robert B. "Bob" Maddow, is a former United States Air Force captain who resigned his commission the year before her birth and found civilian work as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Her mother, Elaine Maddow (née Gosse), is a school program administrator. She has one older brother, David. Her paternal grandfather was from an Eastern European Jewish family (the original family surname being "Medwedof"), while her paternal grandmother was of Dutch (Protestant) background; her mother, originally from Newfoundland, Canada, is of English and Irish ancestry. Maddow has stated that her family is "very, very Catholic," and she grew up in a community that her mother has described as "very conservative." Maddow was a competitive athlete and participated in three sports in high school: volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Referencing John Hughes films, she has described herself as being "a cross between the jock and the antisocial girl" in high school.

Mitt Romney
Willard Mitt Romney (born March 12, 1947) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. Following his service as Governor, Romney was the Republican Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 election.
Raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, by his parents George and Lenore Romney, Mitt Romney spent two and a half years in France as a Mormon missionary starting in 1966. He married Ann Davies in 1969, and they have five sons. By 1971, Romney had participated in the political campaigns of both of his parents. In that year, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at Brigham Young and in 1975, a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration at Harvard. Romney then entered the management consulting industry and in 1977 secured a position at Bain & Company. Later serving as its chief executive officer, he helped lead the company out of financial crisis. In 1984, he cofounded and led the spin-off company Bain Capital, a highly profitable private equity investment firm that became one of the largest of its kind in the nation. Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Romney served during his business career as the bishop of his ward (head of his local congregation) and then stake president in his home area near Boston. After stepping down from Bain Capital and his local leadership role in the church, he ran as the Republican candidate in the 1994 Massachusetts election for U.S. Senate. Upon losing to longtime incumbent Ted Kennedy, he resumed his position at Bain Capital. Years later, a successful stint as president and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics led to a relaunch of his political career.

Fred's extensive experience in politics and governmental affairs has spanned over 35 years. As a partner of the Dolphin Group, Fred managed numerous federal, state and local campaigns. He ran several successful opposition campaigns, including heavy involvement in three Presidential races.
In 2006 Karger founded Save the Boom!!! a grassroots campaign to save the oldest gay bar in the Western United States, the landmark Boom Boom Room and Coast Inn in Laguna Beach, California. This got Fred active in LGBTQ politics, and was the natural precursor to his starting Californians Against Hate
Californians Against Hate was created to bring public attention to the major donors to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. Fred organized boycotts against four mega-donors to Proposition 8, two were settled and two are ongoing. Proposition 8 passed in a very close election on November 4, 2008, and ended gay marriage in California.
Right after the election, Fred filed a sworn complaint against the Mormon Church with the California Fair Political Practices Commission for possible illegal campaign activities surrounding its massive involvement in Proposition 8. That led to a 19 month investigation, culminating in a 13 count guilty finding against the Salt Lake City based Church.
Fred filed a similar complaint with the Maine Ethics Commission against the infamous National Organization for Marriage, alleging money laundering and reporting irregularities in that state's November 2009 election to repeal its marriage equality law. That investigation is ongoing.
On April 10, 2010 at a press conference at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Fred announced that he was seriously considering running for President in 2012 as an Independent Republican. He would be the first openly gay candidate to run for President of the United States.
Since his announcement Fred has traveled extensively throughout the country, with repeated visits to Iowa and New Hampshire, home to the first caucuses and primary in the nation.

Fred Karger, John Fitzgerald Keitel and Kevin Miniter went back to the University of New Hampshire in Durham to screen FRED, the new one hour documentary by filmmaker John Fitzgerald Keitel. The screening was sponsored by The Alliance and was held in the Municipal Union Building (MUB) where Fred began his campaign exactly four years ago. Watch as several of the students who saw the film react as we see this full circle video. This was day two of the nine day FRED New Hampshire Screening Tour. It was wonderful to return to the Christa McAuliffe Auditorium at Concord High School and screen FRED to over 200 students on Thursday. I last spoke there nearly three years when I was campaigning for president. Our appearance was sponsored by the school's LGBT organization Tide Pride and was open to all students. We screened FRED before our largest audience to date. They all enjoyed John Fitzgerald Keitel's one hour documentary as evidenced by the screaming and applauding during the closing credits. Sharing my journey with such a great mix of students made for an incredible afternoon! -
