"Adrian Hanson," katanya sambil menjabat tangan Kania.
Kania berusaha keras mengabaikan pesona pria itu. Apa kata orang jika sang asisten berani-berani menyukai sang presiden direktur? Lagi pula, laki-laki kan selalu bikin sakit hati!

You undoubtedly know of Lolita, the controversial 1955 novel by Vladimir Nabokov that tells the story of an adult man's relationship with a sexually provocative 12-year-old "nymphet." You're also likely familiar with the Tokyo-born style subculture of the same name that consists of ruffled petticoats, lace hair bows, and pink parasols. And, if you're not part of that scene, you've probably conflated the two. Despite the little-girl attire and coquettish sensibilities, Lolita the style and Lolita the book come from completely different places.
Originating in Japan in the '70s, Lolita fashion was a reaction to the contemporary trend of showcasing a woman's body through formfitting clothing. For women who didn't want to show off their bodies, this was a way to set their own rules about getting dressed, engaging with their clothing, and what was considered a "good" outfit. Small communities grew throughout Tokyo, an industry sprouted up to accommodate demand, and pretty soon, Lolita fashion became renowned beyond the streets of Harajuku.
So, when we found a group of young women in Amsterdam who get together to dress up in Lolita gear, we weren't all that surprised. What did throw us for a loop, though, was how empowering they found it, as more than an activity but an identity and a community. A style subculture created by women, to dress women, and to be admired by women, it's one of very few that remove men from the equation entirely. Our host Asha Leo visits a group of women in The Netherlands who've come across a newfound confidence in a style that's traveled halfway around the world to find them.

This imaginative novel is not exactly the typical teenage love story. Moon lives with his eccentric mother, Saskia, the widow of the wealthy merchant Lambert Humalda, in a big house on the edge of the Frisian Dantumadiel. Rick is in love with the beautiful Moon, but becomes confused when he tells him that he is really a girl. This is just the beginning of a chain of unfortunate adventures that takes them along harassing rugby players, noble frog people and the Amsterdam underworld.

Joining Jenny Niven for Texts in the City is Louise Swinn, whose imprint Sleepers Publishing published the novel Things We Didn’t See Coming by Steven Amsterdam.
Swinn reveals how she first encountered Amsterdam’s writing and details the process of bringing the book to publication. She discusses the book in relation to genre — in particular, whether it’s speculative fiction or literary fiction, and what difference that might make to how the book is understood by readers. She also talks about why the book is marketed as a novel in Australia and a collection of short stories overseas.
Further exploring the text, Swinn and Niven address the question of morality in the novel in the context of the relationships between the characters and the things that each must do to survive. What does Things We Didn’t See Coming have to say about love, relationships and crisis? And how does it relate to our real world narratives of disaster?

Abstract
Isocyanides have been important building blocks in organic synthesis since the discovery of the Ugi reaction and related isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions. In the past decade isocyanides have found a new application as versatile C1 building block in palladium catalysis. We considerably contributed to the development of novel atom- and step efficient Pd-catalyzed reactions involving isocyanide insertion in the last couple of years. The author believes these reactions offer a vast potential for the synthesis of nitrogen containing fine chemicals. In this context, the author and his team recently developed a novel palladium-catalyzed aerobic oxidation reaction that produces guanidine-containing and related heterocycles from bisnucleophiles and aliphatic isocyanides. The reaction is applicable to a wide variety of pharmaceutically relevant heterocyclic systems, as illustrated by a formal synthesis of astemizole and norastemizole. Easily handled and relatively low-cost Pd(OAc)2 is used as the catalyst without an additional ligand or base and molecular oxygen-the most sustainable oxidant available— as the oxidant. The procedure is operationally simple, since bench solvents and atmospheric pressure are used, and environmentally benign due to the low catalyst loading, renewable solvent and high atom efficiency. In this presentation the author will discuss this new reaction in relation to the quickly developing field and our other contributions in this area.

The Outsiders. John Pilger interviews British-Indian author Salman Rushdie. BBC UK. 1983.
(Nastaʿlīq); born 19 June 1947) is a British Indian novelist a...
(Nastaʿlīq); born 19 June 1947) is a British Indian novelist and essayist. His second novel, Midnight's Children (1981), won the Booker Prize in 1981. Much of his fiction is set on the Indian subcontinent. He is said to combine magical realism with historical fiction; his work is concerned with the many connections, disruptions and migrations between Eastern and Western civilizations.
His fourth novel, The Satanic Verses (1988), was the centre of a major controversy, provoking protests from Muslims in several countries. Death threats were made against him, including a fatwā issued by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran, on 14 February 1989.
Rushdie was appointed Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France in January 1999. In June 2007, Queen Elizabeth II knighted him for his services to literature. In 2008, The Times ranked him thirteenth on its list of the fifty greatest British writers since 1945.
Rushdie's first career was as a copywriter, working for the advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather, where he came up with "irresistibubble" for Aero and "Naughty but Nice" for cream cakes, and for the agency Ayer Barker, for whom he wrote the memorable line "That'll do nicely" for American Express. It was while he was at Ogilvy that he wrote Midnight's Children, before becoming a full-time writer. John Hegarty of Bartle Bogle Hegarty has criticised Rushdie for not referring to his copywriting past frequently enough, although conceding: "He did write crap ads ... admittedly."

Snowden's passage through Hong Kong inspired a local production team to produce a low-budget five-minute film entitled Verax. The film, depicting the time Snowden spent hiding in the Mira Hotel while being unsuccessfully tracked by the CIA and China's Ministry of State Security, was uploaded to YouTube on June 25, 2013.[511][512]
A dramatic thriller, Classified: The Edward Snowden Story, was scheduled for release on September 19, 2014. The feature-length film, which was crowdfunded to be offered as a free download, was directed by Jason Bourque and produced by Travis Doering. Actor Kevin Zegers played Edward Snowden, Michael Shanks played Glenn Greenwald and Carmen Aguirre played Laura Poitras.[513]
In September 2013, the TV series South Park parodied the Snowden revelations, with Eric Cartman standing in for Snowden. The episode, titled "Let Go, Let Gov," received the highest ratings for the show in two years.[514][515]
In the District of Columbia, the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF), a free speech advocacy group, crowdfunded an ad saying "Thank You Edward Snowden" that was featured on the sides of a D.C. city bus for four weeks in late 2013.[516][517] The PCJF said they received enough support from around the world to sponsor partial ads on five more buses in 2014.[518]
Snowden has been featured in video games[519][520] and has an action figure made in his image. Although not endorsed by Snowden, proceeds from the $99 doll are donated to Freedom of the Press Foundation, where he serves on the board of directors.[521][522] In May 2014, Beyond: Edward Snowden, a graphic novel by Marvel Comics writer Valerie D'Orazio, illustrated by Dan Lauer, appeared in both print and digital editions as part a new series from Bluewater Productions, which the publisher said would reveal "stories about the secret and suppressed, the stories 'They' don't want you to know!"[523][524]
In 2014, film director Oliver Stone bought the rights to Time of the Octopus, a forthcoming novel based on Snowden's life and written by his Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena. Stone said he would use both Kucherena's book and Luke Harding's nonfiction The Snowden Files for the screenplay of his movie, which began production later in 2014.[525] Snowden will be portrayed by American actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the biopic Snowden, which is due for release in December 2015.
On October 10, 2014, Citizenfour, a documentary about Snowden, received its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.[526] Earlier that year, director Laura Poitras told Associated Press she was editing the film in Berlin because she feared her source material would be seized by the government inside the U.S.[527] The two-hour film was shot in various countries, tracing Snowden's time in Hong Kong and including Moscow, where he is currently living with his girlfriend Lindsay Mills.[528] The film was released in the U.S. and Europe to positive reviews,[529] and won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.[530] During a Reddit "AMA" (Ask Me Anything) in February 2015, Snowden declared, "I don't have a commercial interest in the film."[483]
In October 2014, Killswitch, a film that features Edward Snowden as well as Aaron Swartz, Lawrence Lessig, and Tim Wu received its world premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Editing. It has since played alongside Citizenfour at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and has continued an international film festival run. The film probes the efforts of big business to control the Internet, the efforts of government to regulate it, the efforts of hacktivists to free up information worldwide and the consequences.

From award-winning blues scholar and musician Adam Gussow, a taut, sexy first novel about the summer busking scene in Europe and a pair of wild-hearted young men who make a pitch for fame and glory, finding a girl or two along the way.
Busker's Holiday is the story of McKay Chernoff, a Columbia University grad student with a harmonica in his pocket and a blues band in his background. Desolate and despairing after a disastrous romantic breakup, McKay decides to fly off to Paris and reinvent himself as a street performer.
What follows is an epic summer voyage into the busking life, propelled by the mad exploits of Billy Lee Grant, a fearless young guitar shredder whose Memphis-to-Mississippi pedigree and Dylanesque surrealism make him, when he explodes into view, precisely the partner McKay has been yearning for.
Burning like a latter-day Dean Moriarty, Bill goads McKay into a sun-drenched, all-night bender, stoked by wine, women, mushrooms, and trains, that careens down out of Avignon and across the French Riviera. What happens next--in Florence, Solingen, Amsterdam, Paris--is a story of purgatory, redemption, and love regained. Hope, in a word, as a modern troubadour returns from his wanderings, reborn.
You can order the novel from Amazon (print and e-book): http://www.amazon.com/Buskers-Holiday-Adam-Gussow/dp/0996712402/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=modeblueharm-20&linkCode;=w00&linkId;=OOAHHKMBWPTOLIS5&creativeASIN;=0996712402
