Michael Showalter (born June 17, 1970) is an American comedian, actor, producer, writer, and director. He is a member of the sketch comedy trio Stella. Showalter first came to recognition as a cast member on MTV's The State, which aired from 1993 to 1995. He co-wrote (with David Wain) and starred in Wet Hot American Summer (2001) and he wrote, directed, and starred in The Baxter (2005), with Michelle Williams, Justin Theroux and Elizabeth Banks. Both of these movies featured many of his co-stars from The State, and so do several of his other projects.
Michael Showalter was born in Princeton, New Jersey, the son of Elaine Showalter (née Cottler), an author, literary critic and professor, and English Showalter, a Yale-educated professor of 18th century French literature. His father is Episcopalian and his mother is Jewish. He has one older sister, Vinca Showalter LaFleur, a professional speechwriter. He attended Princeton High School. For five years, Showalter shared an apartment with his friend Andrea Rosen.
Michael Austin Cera (/ˈsɛrə/; born June 7, 1988) is a Canadian actor and musician. He started his career as a child actor, most notably portraying a young Chuck Barris in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002). He is mostly known for his role as George Michael Bluth on the sitcom Arrested Development and for his leading roles in the comedy films Superbad (2007), Juno (2007), Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) and Youth in Revolt (2010). In 2010, he portrayed Scott Pilgrim in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and played an exaggerated version of himself in This Is the End (2013). Cera made his Broadway debut in the 2014 installement of Kenneth Lonergan's This is Our Youth.
Aside from acting, Cera is also a musician, having released his debut album True That in 2014.
Cera was born in Brampton, Ontario. He is the son of Linda (née Cockman) and Luigi Cera, a technician. His father is Sicilian, and his mother has Irish, Dutch, Scottish, and English ancestry. His parents both worked for Xerox. Cera has an older sister, Jordan, and a younger sister, Molly. He became interested in acting after viewing Ghostbusters repeatedly when sick with the chicken pox at the age of three. He memorized all the dialogue and idolized Bill Murray. He enrolled in The Second City Toronto and took improvization classes.
Andrew "Andy" Samberg (born August 18, 1978) is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, writer, producer, singer and rapper. He is a member of the comedy group The Lonely Island and was a cast member on Saturday Night Live (2005–2012), where he and his fellow group members have been credited with popularizing the SNL Digital Shorts.
Samberg has starred in films, such as Hot Rod, I Love You, Man, That's My Boy, Celeste and Jesse Forever and Hotel Transylvania. He currently stars in the workplace sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2014. He hosted the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2015.
Samberg was born in Berkeley, California. His mother, Marjorie "Margi" (née Marrow), is an elementary school teacher, and his father, Joe, is a photographer. He has two sisters, Johanna and Darrow. His family is Jewish, and his maternal grandfather, industrial psychologist and philanthropist Alfred J. Marrow, served as the executive chair of the American Jewish Congress. Samberg has described himself as "not particularly religious". He is a third cousin of U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin (their maternal grandfathers were first cousins). Samberg discovered Saturday Night Live as a child, while sneaking past his parents to watch professional wrestling on television. He was obsessed with the show and his devotion to comedy was frustrating to teachers who felt he was distracted from his schoolwork. Samberg graduated from Berkeley High School in 1996, where he became interested in creative writing and has stated: "[Writing classes] were the ones that I put all my effort into... that's what I cared about and that's what I ended up doing." He attended college at University of California, Santa Cruz, for two years before transferring to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated in 2000.
David Benjamin Wain (born August 1, 1969) is an American comedian, writer, actor and director. He is most widely known for directing the feature films Role Models, Wanderlust and Wet Hot American Summer and its Netflix prequel series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, the sketch comedy series The State, for producing, directing and writing the Adult Swim series Childrens Hospital, and for voicing The Warden on the Adult Swim series Superjail!. Wain is a founding member of comedy group Stella, along with Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black.
Wain was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. As a young man, Wain went to a summer camp in Canaan, Maine, on which Wet Hot American Summer was loosely based.
In 1988 while attending NYU film school, Wain became a founding member of the sketch comedy group The New Group. This group would later come to be known as The State, and in 1993 he and his fellow members created and starred in The State, a sketch show that lasted 26 episodes on MTV. After The State ended, he, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter eventually formed the comedy trio Stella.
Michael Ian Black (born Michael Ian Schwartz; August 12, 1971) is a comedian, actor, writer, and director. He has starred in several TV comedy series, including The State, Ed, Viva Variety, Stella, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and Michael & Michael Have Issues. He is also a poker player, appearing on Celebrity Poker Showdown several times. He released a children's book, Chicken Cheeks, in 2009.
Black was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jill and Robert Schwartz - a store owner and an executive, respectively. He grew up in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey, where he attended Hillsborough High School. His parents divorced when he was three years old. His mother, Jill, came out as a lesbian. When he was twelve, his father had neurological surgery following a mysterious assault. Days after being released from the hospital he was re-admitted for an infection and died as a result of an allergic reaction to an administered medication. His birth name, Schwartz, is derived from the German word "schwarz," which has the same meaning as his stage name, Black. Schwartz changed his name to Michael Ian Black to avoid confusion with the actor Mike Schwartz.

Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter parody the Billy Bob Thornton interview making the rounds on the internet.
"I remember being struck by one of Michael Showalter's improvisations that he was doing with Kerri Kenney, who also ended up being in The State (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_State_%28TV_series%29). They were laying on their back, talking about, you know, how great it was to be young and alive, and then Showalter said something like, you know, 'we should probably get off the supermarket floor', or something like that. And it sounds like a sort of small moment, but in a weird way, it was revelatory, and that was my first impression of him. And then I felt like I wanted to befriend him, because I found him very funny. And I think that night we kind of hung out with another guy from The State, Joe Lo Truglio, on the streets of New York, and just sort of riffing and trying to make each o...
