Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər/ or /ˈjɔːrkʃɪər/) is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.
Within the borders of the historic county of Yorkshire are areas which are widely considered to be among the greenest in England, due to the vast stretches of unspoiled countryside in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and to the open aspect of some of the major cities. Yorkshire has sometimes been nicknamed "God's Own County" or "God's Own Country".

For adult Yorkshire Terriers, importance is placed on coat colour, quality, and texture.[3] The hair must be glossy, fine, straight, and silky. Traditionally the coat is grown out long and is parted down the middle of the back, but "must never impede movement."[4] From the back of the neck to the base of the tail, the coat should be a dark gray to a black colour, and the hair on the tail should be a darker black. On the head, high chest, and legs, the hair should be a bright, rich tan, darker at the roots than in the middle, that shades into a lighter tan at the tips. Also, in adult dogs, there should be no dark hairs intermingled with any of the tan coloured fur. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy, 4 weeks old, displaying the characteristic black/steel black and tan coat. York is a walled city that dates back to Roman times, around 71 AD. It is equally famous for its enormous cathedral, York Minster and other places of interest such as Clifford’s Tower and The Shambles. Scarborough has been popular since the Iron Age - when the first fortification was built on the headland that divides the North and South Bays. The Romans also chose the headland for a military base and it was last attacked during WWI by the Germans who shelled the town in WWI. Its long history includes monasteries and the discovery of spa water, that brought the first 'tourists' for water cures: making it the first place in Britain to have bathing machines! With the arrival of the railway in the 1840s its place was assured as a holiday resort - a claim it still has today. Geoff Druett covers the town from the port to the castle, from South Bay to North Bay - showing how much more there is to Scarborough than the beach! 1) HUDDERSFIELD-MARSDEN (Colour, 29 minutes. VHS 1989). Between 1964 and 1967 Geoffrey Whitwam filmed the last days of steam on the Standedge Line in the West Riding of Yorkshire - part of the main transPennine route between Leeds and Manchester. His stunning shots of Black Fives, Jubilees, 8F’s, Britannias, Standard Class 5’s, 9F’s and Stanier and Fairburn Tanks along the Colne Valley are contrasted with foototage of the same locations today (80's). It’s a unique, nostalgic and acclaimed record of blackened workhouses on the edge of the scrapyard. “… Whitwan’s filming is superb… many visual delights, often showing what we have lost; a ride variety of locos… the specially commissioned music is supportive without being intrusive: and the constant juxtaposition of the 60’s and 80’s a deligh...
