Mclusky (often stylized as mclusky), originally known as Best, were a three-piece post-hardcore group formed in Cardiff, Wales. The group consisted of Englishman Andrew "Falco" Falkous (vocals, guitar) from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Jonathan Chapple (bass, vocals) and Jack Egglestone (drums), who replaced previous drummer Matthew Harding in late 2003.
According to the band, they originally formed in 1996 when Falkous and Harding met at the Blackwood Miners Institute, a venue in their home town from which they were both ejected for dressing as miners. The pair met Chapple a short time afterwards at the Reading Festival when they caught him urinating on their tent late in the night.
More realistically it has been suggested that Falkous and Harding met when working together at Anglian Windows, a small double-glazing call centre in Cardiff. They discussed their musical ambitions after a conversation about Reading Festival, Falkous gave Harding a tape of songs he had written on his own, and shortly after they formed a band called Best after early Beatles drummer Pete Best. The original bass player for Best was Geraint Bevan, Harding's old musical comrade from The Derelicts.
As I've not found this elsewhere on here I decided to put the song up with a small slide-show. This is one of my favourites by Mclusky. I make no claim to the images or music used. Kkkitchens, what were you thinking? Your quality units never stood a chance With a little forward planning and perspective You'd have avoided this But you're a spook, a legend An urban myth with a twist in the tail A precautionary nod to the licensing trade And children still whisper your name Daddy, don't marry, Daddy Kkkitchens, what were you thinking? If racial tension is a benchmark How much for this sink in a riot? I'll buy it with the water main You're a mock, a molar A molecular fault in a parallel world A mysterious font by the end of North Road Just across from the spar Da...
Released in 2002 on Too Pure. Mclusky is a Welsh trio. They play a very noisy brand of punk / alt rock with a healthy dose of self deprecating humor. This is their 2nd album. My old roommate got me into this band. This album made it on a lot of bloggers top albums of 2002 list when it came out. Mclusky is a pretty rad band. They play very short and loud songs with very absurd lyrics. Lots of catchy and crunchy guitar hooks, drunken, frenetic energy, deranged crazy man vocals. The music is here sounds very messy, but not at all sloppy. The self deprecating attitude on display here really adds a lot of charm to the music. The music is entertaining and frequently hilarious, without ever being jokey or comical. They tend to be on the more absurd, WTF end of the comedy spectrum....

For anybody who wasn't able to get their hands on the 3 disk Mcluskyism. I know I had a lot of trouble finding a copy. Fairly entertaining heckling at 2:15.
From the album The Difference Between You and Me is That I'm Not on Fire I do not own this.

Mclusky were an alternative three-piece from Wales who played excellent music. This zine's review of the band describes them much better than I could in a little blurb on Youtube, so here is a link to that review: http://treblezine.com/features/63.html. "Falco vs. The Young Canoeist" is from their final studio album, "The Difference Between Me & You Is That I'm Not On Fire," released in 2004. Two of the members (Andy Falkous and Jack Egglestone) play in Future of the Left, another really fantastic band (and totally thrilling to watch live). This music video is for a song by the rock group The Delicates. The video is something special to see. There is no nudity. The animation you'll see chronicles a crumbling marriage. Start to finish. Ahem.
