Leonard Fournette was named to the Walter Camp Award watch list among 40 other players for the 2016 player of the year honor, as announced Friday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Fournette is one of 11 running backs on the list which includes 15 quarterbacks and 10 defensive players. Fournette was a 2015 Walter Camp first-team All-America selection after rushing for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns, both school records, in 2015. He was the first SEC player to win an NCAA rushing title as he averaged 162.8 yards per game.
The Walter Camp Award watch list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in mid-November. The recipient of the 50th edition of the award will be announced live on ESPN SportsCenter on Dec. 8.
