Melodramatic parable in a social-realist idiom. A flood forces a train to stop for 24hours at a remote railway station in the Andher Nagari (land of darkness) kingdom ruled bny an authoriatiran king whose daughter Princess Indira (Ramani) is among the passengers. Other passengers include the unemployed Ramu (Dutt), his sister and aged mother; Kavi, a long-haired and cynical poet; a laundryman and his formidable wife; and an avaricious Marwari businessman, Nasibchand When the food runs out, Nasibchand buys the local grocery shop and starts a black market. A westernised clique, keeping their distance from the others, starts dancing and drinking while a Brahmin priest charges money to perform mandatory religious rituals. Indira falls in love with Ramu and wants to mary him right away, although teh grocers poor daughter Naina (Jaywant) also loves him. The marriage is interrupted by the arrival of Indiras royal father. Eventually Ramu and Naina get married. The film included the hit Basti basti prabat prabat (sung by Mohammed Rafi) and several catchy numbers by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. *.* The train in which Indira made her getway, turned out to be a vehicle of fate a vehicle that lande her smack in the midst of the cross currents of life. The train halted at a small wayside station.....and did not proceed. The track ahead, it was learnt had been washed away by the floods, and the train would not get on its way for another twenty four hours at least. . There was the poet, blithely singing away the lower Middle class youth Ram accompanied by his mother and his sister, the washerman and his wife, ther was also a miserly merchant with his child wife, and there were many other. . The miserly merchant, when he learned that there was a small provi- sions shop abuot two furlongs away the only provision shop there about lost no time in appropriating the shop and the adjoining well by paying one hundred and forty rupees, whereafter he settled down to selling all available things at a premium, even selling water! He would not let naina, the shop owners daughter give even a glass of water from her own cottage to Ram! The casual acquaintance ripened into mutual attraction, though Naina felt it more actually than did Ram. In this brief encounter with the Princess on the other hand, Ram expressed his strong feelings about the snobbery of the so-called high-born. Some of the kinks in his character were Later smoothened out by the Poet who, even thugh he had lost bothe his arms, had no grouse against the world. "Your trouble" said the Poet to Ram, "is that two and two for you make four. Add them to make twenty two and you will enjoy life. . The wrapping for some `Puris bought by Rams siste, the wrapping torn from a newapaper....revealed the identity of the Princess and Ram, who had been casting about in his mind for ways of finding a handsome sum of money for the marriage of his sister, sent a telegram off to the Princess father in the hope of receivng the reward of ten thousand rupees that had been announced. . Thereafter, it transpired, the Princess and he were suddenly attracted toward each other so magnetically attracted that they decided to get married immediatley, The Maharaja arrived just when the marriage was to be solomnised......and then he brought up the question wasnt Ram marrying the Princess because he coveted her wealth? . The answer to this question was of great import to the Princess as well as to Naina who had patiently, stoically, stood by, while her hopes were being snatched away

The train was late. So we had to wait on the platform of this rural rail junction, for about one and a half hours. It was drizzling. A long-distance train had come in. So I took out my Nokia 79 and started video-ing the train and the platform. I missed the guy who slipped and fell down. The labourers who came in at the end were wondering why I was video-ing the platform and the train.

Gorakhpur railway station became the proud owner of world's longest home platform on Sunday after GM, NER, KK Atal inaugurated the remodelled Gorakhpur Yard. With the
inauguration, Gorakhpur now has a platform measuring 1366.33 metres. With this achievement, the NER has also secured a place in the Limca Book of Records. The achievement of the Gorakhpur station would also be incorporated in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Railway platform
A railway platform is a section of pathway, alongside rail tracks at a railway station, metro station or tram stop, at which passengers may board or alight from trains or trams. Almost all rail stations have some form of platform, with larger stations having multiple platforms. The term "platform" has also gained usage as a verb among some rail conductors, as in, "The first two cars will not platform at [station]".
The term "railway platform" can also mean any type of freight platform beside a rail siding for loading/unloading freight to/from rail cars.
Characteristics
The most basic form of platform consists of an area at the same level as the track, usually resulting in a fairly large height difference between the platform and the train floor. This would often not be considered a true platform. The more traditional platform is elevated relative to the track but often lower than the train floor, although ideally they should be at the same level. Occasionally the platform is higher than the train floor, where a train with a low floor serves a station built for trains with a high floor, for example at the Dutch stations of the DB Regionalbahn Westfalen (see Enschede). On the London Underground some stations are served by both District line and Piccadilly line trains, and the Piccadilly trains have lower floors.

Nalini Jaywant
Nalini Jaywant (18 February 1926 – 20 December 2010) was an Indian movie actress from Bollywood in the 1940s and 1950s.
Personal life and education
Jaywant was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1926. She was first cousin of actress Shobhna Samarth, the mother of actresses Nutan and Tanuja. Since 1983, she had been living mostly a reclusive life.
She was married to director Virendra Desai in the 1940s. Later, she married her second husband, actor Prabhu Dayal, with whom she acted in several movies.
Nalini Jaywant died on 20 December 2010, aged 84, at her bungalow of 60 years at Union Park, Chembur, Mumbai.
Career
In her teens, appeared in Mehboob Khan's Bahen (1941), a film about a brother's obsessive love for his sister. The movie had strong shades of incest. She performed in a few more movies before filming Anokha Pyaar (1948). In 1950, she garnered fame when she became a top star with her performances opposite Ashok Kumar in Samadhi and Sangram. Samadhi was a patriotic drama concerning Subhas Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army. Although the leading movie magazine of the day, Film India, called it "politically obsolete", it enjoyed success at the box office. Sangram was a crime drama in which Nalini played the heroine reforming the anti-hero. She and Ashok Kumar performed together in other films, such as Jalpari (1952), Kafila (1952), Nau Bahar (1952), Saloni (1952), Lakeeren (1954), Naaz (1954), Mr. X (1957), Sheroo (1957) and Toofan Mein Pyar Kahan (1963).

Sunil Dutt
Sunil Dutt (6 June 1930 – 25 May 2005), born Balraj Dutt, was an Indian movie actor, producer, director and politician. He was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Manmohan Singh government (2004–2005). His son, Sanjay Dutt, is also an actor, while daughter Priya Dutt, a former Member of Parliament.
In 1968, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India. In 1984 he joined the Indian National Congress party and was elected to Parliament of India for five terms from the constituency of Mumbai North West.
Early life
Sunil Dutt was born on 6 June 1930 in Khurd village, Jhelum district, Punjab Province, Pakistan. When he was five years old, Dutt's father died. When he was 18, the Partition of India began inciting Hindu-Muslim violence across the country. A Muslim named Yakub, who had been friends with Dutt's father, saved their entire family. The family resettled in a small village on the bank of river Yamuna called Mandauli in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana. Later he moved to Lucknow and spent a long time in Aminabad Galli during graduation. He then moved to Bombay, where he joined Jai Hind College as an undergraduate and took up a job at the city's BEST Transport division.

Rural Railway Platform, India
The train was late. So we had to wait on the platform of this rural rail junction, for about one and a half hours. It was drizzling. A long-distance train had come in. So I took out my Nokia 79 and started video-ing the train and the platform. I missed the guy who slipped and fell down. The labourers who came in at the end were wondering why I was video-ing the platform and the train.

Gorakhpur railway station became the proud owner of world's longest home platform on Sunday after GM, NER, KK Atal inaugurated the remodelled Gorakhpur Yard. With the inauguration, Gorakhpur now has a platform measuring 1366.33 metres. With this achievement, the NER has also secured a place in the Limca Book of Records. There was the poet, blithely singing away the lower Middle class youth Ram accompanied by his mother and his sister, the washerman and his wife, ther was also a miserly merchant with his child wife, and there were many other. . The miserly merchant, when he learned that there was a small provi- sions shop abuot two furlongs away the only provision shop there about lost no time in appropriating the shop and the adjoining well by paying one hundred and forty rupees, whereafter he settled down to selling all available things at a premium, even selling water! He would not let naina, the shop owners daughter give even a glass of water from her own cottage to Ram! The casual acquaintance ripened into mutual attraction, though Naina felt it more actually than did Ram. In this brief encounter with the Princess on the other hand, Ram expressed his strong feelings about the snobbery of the so-called high-born. Some of the kinks in his character were Later smoothened out by the Poet who, even thugh he had lost bothe his arms, had no grouse against the world. "Your trouble" said the Poet to Ram, "is that two and two for you make four. Add them to make twenty two and you will enjoy life. . The wrapping for some `Puris bought by Rams siste, the wrapping torn from a newapaper....revealed the identity of the Princess and Ram, who had been casting about in his mind for ways of finding a handsome sum of money for the marriage of his sister, sent a telegram off to the Princess father in the hope of receivng the reward of ten thousand rupees that had been announced. . Thereafter, it transpired, the Princess and he were suddenly attracted toward each other so magnetically attracted that they decided to get married immediatley, The Maharaja arrived just when the marriage was to be solomnised......and then he brought up the question wasnt Ram marrying the Princess because he coveted her wealth? . The answer to this question was of great import to the Princess as well as to Naina who had patiently, stoically, stood by, while her hopes were being snatched away

Rural Railway Platform, India
The train was late. So we had to wait on the platform of this rural rail junction, for about one and a half hours. It was drizzling. A long-distance train had come in. So I took out my Nokia 79 and started video-ing the train and the platform. I missed the guy who slipped and fell down. The labourers who came in at the end were wondering why I was video-ing the platform and the train.

Gorakhpur railway station became the proud owner of world's longest home platform on Sunday after GM, NER, KK Atal inaugurated the remodelled Gorakhpur Yard. With the inauguration, Gorakhpur now has a platform measuring 1366.33 metres. With this achievement, the NER has also secured a place in the Limca Book of Records. The achievement of the Gorakhpur station would also be incorporated in the Guinness Book of World Records. A westernised clique, keeping their distance from the others, starts dancing and drinking while a Brahmin priest charges money to perform mandatory religious rituals. The miserly merchant, when he learned that there was a small provi- sions shop abuot two furlongs away the only provision shop there about lost no time in appropriating the shop and the adjoining well by paying one hundred and forty rupees, whereafter he settled down to selling all available things at a premium, even selling water! He would not let naina, the shop owners daughter give even a glass of water from her own cottage to Ram! The casual acquaintance ripened into mutual attraction, though Naina felt it more actually than did Ram. In this brief encounter with the Princess on the other hand, Ram expressed his strong feelings about the snobbery of the so-called high-born. Some of the kinks in his character were Later smoothened out by the Poet who, even thugh he had lost bothe his arms, had no grouse against the world. "Your trouble" said the Poet to Ram, "is that two and two for you make four. Add them to make twenty two and you will enjoy life. . The wrapping for some `Puris bought by Rams siste, the wrapping torn from a newapaper....revealed the identity of the Princess and Ram, who had been casting about in his mind for ways of finding a handsome sum of money for the marriage of his sister, sent a telegram off to the Princess father in the hope of receivng the reward of ten thousand rupees that had been announced. . Thereafter, it transpired, the Princess and he were suddenly attracted toward each other so magnetically attracted that they decided to get married immediatley, The Maharaja arrived just when the marriage was to be solomnised......and then he brought up the question wasnt Ram marrying the Princess because he coveted her wealth? . The answer to this question was of great import to the Princess as well as to Naina who had patiently, stoically, stood by, while her hopes were being snatched away
