North Melbourne is the only undefeated team in the league after recording a 31-point victory over Fremantle at Etihad Stadium.
The 20.12 (132) to 14.17 (101) win propelled the rampant Roos to the top of the table for the first time since 1998.
Jarrad Waite booted four goals, taking his season tally to 16, which puts him equal second with Lance Franklin in the race for the Coleman medal, two behind Sun Tom Lynch.
Waite played down the win afterwards, telling Fox, "It's going alright at the moment. We knew that if we kept going and our pressure was up, we'd get the job done.
"They're a quality team and that's why they're always challenging for the premiership.
Waite, 33, said age was no barrier to playing well.
"I am a later maturer so I've always felt I could play on later than other people," he said.
