Gasoline (Theory of a Deadman album)

Gasoline is the second album released by Theory of a Deadman on March 29, 2005. The album features four songs used in the videogame Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, 'Santa Monica', 'No Surprise', 'Say Goodbye' and 'No Way Out'. The album was first released in Canada by 604 Records, and was later released in the U.S. by Roadrunner Records. The original 604 Records release of the album is fully unedited, however the Roadrunner version released in the U.S. contains edited versions of "No Surprise" and "Me & My Girl", making this the band's only album not to carry a "Parental Advisory" sticker.

Better Than You Left Me

"Better Than You Left Me" is the debut single from American country music artist Mickey Guyton. It was released to country radio on January 12, 2015 as the first single from her self-titled second EP (2015) and forthcoming debut studio album for Capitol Records Nashville. The song was written by Guyton, Jennifer Hanson, Jenn Schott, and Nathan Chapman.

Content

Guyton said that the single was inspired by a breakup with a former boyfriend who "came running back to" her after she got the opportunity to sing for the President of the United States. In the song, the female narrator encounters a former lover, and tells him that she is "better than you left me".

Critical reception

Taste of Country named the song a "Critic's Pick" from editor Billy Dukes, who called Guyton a "pure country vocalist who relies on talent and strong songwriting before anything else".USA Today's Brian Mansfield also reviewed the single favorably, saying that it "has a soaring melody that reflects its strength of spirit."

Better Than

"Better Than" is a song by John Butler Trio from their fourth studio album, Grand National. Produced by John Butler and Mario Caldato Jr., it was released in the United States on 20 February 2007 as an online single, the third single in Australia and the first overseas single from the album.

The EP includes two previously unreleased tracks recorded in the Grand National sessions, and a special radio mix version of "Better Than" from US sound man, Chris Lord-Alge. To this day, the radio mix version still receives moderate airplay from adult alternative stations.

The EP debuted at number sixteen in the ARIA Singles Chart on 3 September 2007. "Better Than" was also popular in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007 being voted at #4 and appearing on the compilation CD.

On 31 July 2007 the song was performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Music video

An accompanying music video for "Better Than", which utilizes the "Chris Lord-Alge radio mix" has been released on YouTube on August 1, 2007. In this video, members of the John Butler Trio band perform the song while on animated posters and performing on various spots of the streets with various pedestrians and skateboarders going by. Throughout, 2 messages (which reiterate the lyrical content in the song itself) are shown in a style of graffiti saying "The best things in life...aren't things!" and "Art changes people... people change the world."

Mickey Guyton

Candace Mycale "Mickey" Guyton (born June 17, 1983) is an American country music singer. She is signed to Capitol Records Nashville, and has released her debut single "Better Than You Left Me".

Musical career

Candace Mycale "Mickey" Guyton was born on June 17, 1983 in Arlington, Texas, to parents Phyllis Ann Roddy and Michael Eugene Guyton. She said that she was inspired to begin a singing career after, at the age of eight, she saw LeAnn Rimes sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the start of a Texas Rangers game. In 2011, Guyton signed with Capitol Records Nashville and recorded an extended play, Unbreakable three years later. Her debut album will be co-produced by Dann Huff and Nathan Chapman.

Guyton wrote her debut single, "Better Than You Left Me", with Jennifer Hanson and Jenn Schott. She debuted the single at the Grand Ole Opry on January 10, 2015, and released both it and the music video two days later.

The song debuted at number 56 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart dated for the week ending January 24, 2015. An article in The Guardian made note of the song's early success on the charts, particularly in relation to Guyton's being an African American female in a genre dominated by white men. In 2016, she was nominated for the New Female Vocalist of the Year honour at the ACM awards.
