Jetstar flight grounded
Hundreds of Jetstar passengers are stuck in Melbourne and Bangkok after a 787 Dreamliner was grounded for engineering checks.
As a result of those delays, Jetstar said, it had to delay another service between Melbourne and Singapore, which had been scheduled for Friday night.
"As a result of a delay on a return flight between Bangkok and Melbourne yesterday we had to move our schedule around to get these customers back home," a spokesman for the airline said.
"We always put safety before schedule and our customers are generally supportive of this."
Some Australian passengers left stranded in Singapore said they were notified by Jetstar about the cancelled flight, only to find their online bookings had been automatically updated. One said the customer service was "woeful".
The Jetstar spokesman said text messages and emails had been sent to all affected passengers, and the airline was providing hotel accommodation to customers who were not in their home cities.
