Amy Jackson

Amy Louise Jackson (born 31 January 1992 ) is a British model and actress, who appears in Indian films, primarily Tamil cinema. After college, she began modelling at age 16, going on to win the 2009 Miss Teen World competition and the 2010 Miss Liverpool title. Subsequently Tamil film director A. L. Vijay spotted her and introduced Jackson as an actress in the 2010 Tamil period-drama Madrasapattinam. While further pursuing her modelling career in the UK, Jackson continued working in India and went on to debut in other film industries in the next years. She had her first Bollywood release in 2012, the romantic drama Ekk Deewana Tha, while 2012 saw the release of her first Telugu film Yevadu. She later starred in Shankar's romantic thriller I, which as of 2015 is the costliest and highest-grossing film featuring her.

Early life

Jackson was born in Isle of Man to English parents, Alan Jackson and Marguerita Jackson. She has an elder sister, Alicia Jackson. The family returned to their parents' home of Woolton, Liverpool, two years after Jackson's birth so that her father, who works as a producer for BBC Radio Merseyside, could continue his media career. Jackson attended St. Edward's College, gaining ten GCSEs, and then went to sixth form to study English language, English literature, and philosophy and ethics.

A. R. Rahman

Allah-Rakha Rahman ( pronunciation , born A. S. Dileep Kumar on 6 January 1967) is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician and philanthropist. Rahman's works are noted for integrating Eastern classical music with electronic music, world music and traditional orchestral arrangements. Among his awards are two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South. Rahman's body of work for film and stage has given him the nickname of "the Mozart of Madras", and Tamil commentators and fans call him Isai Puyal (English: the Musical Storm).

In 2009, Time included Rahman on its list of the world's most influential people. The UK-based world-music magazine Songlines named him one of "Tomorrow's World Music Icons" in August 2011.

With an in-house studio (Panchathan Record Inn in Chennai) Rahman's film-scoring career began during the early 1990s with the Tamil film Roja. Working in India's film industries, international cinema and theatre, Rahman is one of the world's all-time best-selling recording artists. In a notable two-decade career, he has been acclaimed for redefining contemporary Indian film music and contributing to the success of several films. Rahman has become a notable humanitarian and philanthropist, donating and raising money for a number of causes and charities.

Viswanathan Ravichandran

Viswanathan Ravichandran also known as (Aascar V. Ravichandran) is an Indian film producer and distributor in Chennai (formerly known as Madras), India. He was born in Vellore and completed his graduation from Voorhees College, Vellore. He is younger brother of Mr.Sridhar, MD of (Celebrity Pictures) & Mr. Sundar ( Viswas Pictures). He started distributing films since he was 16 years old as he was the son of a leading distributor in vellore. He is the founder and owner of the production and distribution company, Aascar Film Pvt. Ltd. Ravichandran started his venture in 1998 with the co-production of Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.

Ravichandran never attends any functions, even his own movie functions and maintains a low public profile. There are very few people in the Film Industry who have met him personally.

Career

Prior to making his name as a film producer, Ravichandran had been a leading film distributor in Tamil cinema since the late 1970s and gained attention through the distribution of Jackie Chan films across Tamil Nadu. Ravichandran made his debut as a producer in cinema through Fazil's romantic drama film Kadhalukku Mariyadhai (1997), which he co-produced with Sangili Murugan. Though Fazil offered him the opportunity to produce the Malayalam version of the film first, Ravichandran refused because he wanted his first venture to be in Tamil. The film went on to become one of the most successful films of the year, while his second venture, Vikraman's family drama Vaanathaippola (2000), received similar commercial success. His third and fourth films, Ezhil's family drama Poovellam Un Vasam (2001) and Sasi's romantic film Roja Koottam (2002), were also highly profitable ventures.

P. C. Sreeram

P. C. Sreeram (born 26 January 1956) is an Indian cinematographer and film director who works mainly in the Tamil film industry. A student of Madras Film Institute, Sreeram is widely regarded as the "Guru of Cinematography" (English: (lit.) The mentor of cinematography). Apart from his cinematographic works, he was much appreciated for his directorial venture Kuruthipunal which was submitted by India as its official entry to the Oscars in 1996. Sreeram is well known for his association with Mani Ratnam and received critical acclaim for his work in films such as Mouna Ragam, Nayagan, Agni Natchathiram and Geetanjali. He has worked as a cinematographer in over 30 films spanning across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, besides directing three films and a few TV commercials.

Early life and family

Sreeram was born on 26 January 1956 in Madras, (now Chennai, Tamil Nadu). He was the third child in the family and has two sisters. Sreeram's aspiration towards films grew much during his childhood days. He was educated at the Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai. As a student he was not interested in studies and only managed to pass the exams. He developed an early interest in photography and years after struggle he joined the Madras Film Institute to do a course in cinematography. PC Sreeram in his teens when he was a student in the film institute had a long association with the budding creators of his generation. Together with his friends Kamal Hassan, C. Rudhraiya, Santhana Bharathi, Radharavi, R. C. Sakthi and few others they were called sanmac group where they used to join together at a hotel in Chennai and share their learnings about cinema and future dreams of making a perfect cinema.

Vikram (actor)

Vikram (born as Kennedy John Victor on 17 April 1966) is an Indian film actor who predominantly appears in Tamil language films and has won six Filmfare Awards as well as one National Film Award and Tamil Nadu State Film Award amongst other recognitions and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the People's University of Milan in May 2011.
