The Anti-Corruption Branch on Thursday sent a notice to former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in connection with the alleged water tanker scam.
Notice to DJB officials
Special Commissioner of Police, ACB, M.K. Meena said that notices have been sent to Sheila Dixit and some Delhi Jal Board officials.
Mr. Meena told the media: “They shall be questioned on August 26.”
When asked what happens if Ms. Dikshit, who is now Congress’ choice as the chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh, fails to turn up before the ACB despite the notice, the ACB chief said that they can’t predict anything and that action will be taken as per law. The notices were sent on Wednesday as per provisions of Section 160 of the CrPC.
The ACB had registered a case into the matter on June 20 after receiving two complaints.
Those named in the complaints included Sheila Dikshit and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
A week before this, the Delhi government had sent a report of a fact-finding committee on the scam to Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung.
BJP cries foul
Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta had also filed a complaint with Najeeb Jung accusing Mr. Kejriwal of “suppressing” the committee’s report for 11 months.
However, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra accused Mr. Jung and the ACB chief of showing ‘fear and nervousness’ in probing Congress leader Sheila Dikshit in connection with the alleged Rs. 400-crore water tanker scam and said he will “expose” the same with documents.
‘She has to go to jail’
“She has to go to jail. There are five FIRs... but this fear and nervousness which Meena and the L-G are showing... I am going to expose this with documents,” Mr. Mishra tweeted.
