My Humble
Take On Special Action Force (
SAF)
Encounter In
Mamasapano, Maguindanao,
Philippines
First of all, I console with the families, loved-ones, and friends to all the fatalities in that fateful encounter in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, Philippines.
I am not writing this to please anyone.
This is just my humble opinion as a citizen of this country!
Just recently, according to the leading
Philippine News Stations, they have information. That information is from a reliable source, that the
FBI or the
Federal Bureau of Investigation of the
United States of America has already the result - the
DNA of the most wanted terrorist
Marwan matches to his brother who currently detained in the
U.S.
This implies that Marwan is really now dead. But this news is still unofficial because there is no pronouncement yet from the FBI.
Granting that Marwan is indeed dead already out of that SAF operation, would there be a twist of
Filipino people’s take about the issue?
I ask this because we heard so much about numbers of feedback from the news, social media, and even from our friends and loved-ones.
Again, if the FBI will finally confirm that Marwan is now really dead, will those feedback you heard and including your personal feedback will change?
I bet it will!
Having all those negative feedback said and done, are we not aware that someone is hurt?
I know and certain that people under fire with all of those feedback (I will not mention names here because I know that you know very well who they were and who they are) they must also have sleepless nights and shared hurt aches.
But that is not really my POINT!
My post is simple and let me ask this question first:
Why is that there are many people shouting out loud their ideas about it?
Some would even suggest an all out war!, why?
This is my humble opinion about it and I don’t know if you will agree with me here.
I guess the reason is because our
President have not made a very
CLEAR Statement about the matter!
Have he made a clear path solution of this case, people will be guided and people’s mind and sentiments will somehow be at rest and instead will be looking forward to the resolution of the to all of this -
Justice as we put it.
But I am not really blaming the President here. In fact, I am with him and I am looking forward to his next steps in sorting this issue.
One thing,
I believe that the President has reservations of this issue because it is a very vital one. That is why maybe he tends to keep his mouth from making any further statements.
I maybe sounds biased here in favor of the President but let us take it this way, this is not the only case that we have lost lives from our government troops.
In fact, there are more horrible stories and heroic stories of our gallant warriors who have made their final sacrifices for our country that are equally and even more worthy of praise.
I am not discrediting here the noble sacrifices of our fallen 44 - I salute them and praise them, and I sincerely sympathize with all of the loved-ones they have left behind.
My only
point here is that we don’t want emotions to dictate on this problem. Because if we let our emotions rule, biases will surely prevail over reason.
Our
Media has a lot to do with this.
Maybe, media tends to be sensationalizing the case already.
You may ask me why I have came up with this guess that the media might be sensationalizing the issue?
This is why
... I am certain that IF the FBI will confirm that Marwan is really dead, and the media will keep on feeding the news, for sure there will be a change of stand to most of the Filipino people about the issue.
What seems here to be the driving factor of people’s stand about the issue is the media. It is what they’ve heard and watch from the news that their stand or opinion will be based.
There seems to be so much drama here.
What we need is a strong and serious solution to this case!
We do not want that the sacrifices of our noble
Fallen 44 will be in vain by just pointing blame at each other. It will not solve the problem!
We have to be very clear here.
What I mean by being CLEAR is that: we should go back to the very basic, the very point of the matter.
That very
BASIC point is the
Mission of the SAF.
The goal is to get Marwan, period;
Getting to that goal needs a certain gov’t troop that are able to carry out the mission - that time, the task was delegated to the elite
PNP SAF;
Accomplishing the goal entails a big risk - considering the terrain and the hostility of the area.
Hence, there is no question that the elite PNP SAF were able to deliver their tasks. But the seed of the problems boils down in the number of the fatalities
.
