Gilbert may refer to:
Gilbert is a given name of Norman-French origin, itself from Germanic Gisilberht or Gisalberht. Original spellings included Gislebert, Guilbert and Gilebert. The first element, Gil-, comes from Germanic gīsil, meaning "shaft of an arrow" or gisal "pledge, hostage", while the second element, -bert comes from Germanic -behrt, short form of beraht, meaning "bright" or "famous". Another origin arises from Galwegian Gaelic in the name "Gille Brigte" meaning "follower of St Bridget" which is anglicised as "Gilbert". Gille Brigte or Gille Brighde is also the Gaelic for Oystercatcher, a sea bird associated with the story of St Bridget.
The name was introduced to England by the Normans where it was popular during the Middle Ages. That is the reason why the pronunciation Gil- [gil] reflects the Northern Norman one [gil], as opposed to Old French [dʒil] > French [ʒil] and explains the alternative spelling Guilbert with Guil- [gil].
Variant spellings have evolved throughout Europe, including the Romance language version, Gilberto, and the Latin version, Gilbertus. The diminutive, Gil, is popular as a given name or nickname. Gilbert, with variant spellings, is also used as a surname (see Gilbert (surname)).
Gilbert is the performance name of Matthew Gilbert Linley, a London-based composer and musician. He is also the drummer in Engineers with Mark Peters and Ulrich Schnauss.
Linley grew up in Eltham, south-east London, England.
He began playing the drums at an early age and then went on to study classical music and composition at Oriel College, Oxford University and Goldsmith's College. After a period of writing soundtracks for film and television he began writing under the Gilbert moniker.
An eponymously named debut Gilbert album completed in 2007 received excellent reviews and extensive national radio airplay, gaining a digital release soon after on the independent record label, Shifty Disco Records.
In 2010, the latest Gilbert album, Wahoola!, was released. About the new record Linley wrote: " I wanted 'Wahoola!' to more obviously feature the talents of the people who have been performing the first album live.....especially Maud Waret's vocals and Brian Lee's violin-playing". In 2013 Gilbert Linley licensed the album 'Wahoola!' to Felt Music Library www.feltmusic.com.
Amarillo (/ˌæməˈrɪloʊ/am-ə-RIL-o) is the fourteenth most populous city in the state of Texas, in the United States. It is also the largest city in the Texas Panhandle, and the seat of Potter County. A portion of the city extends into Randall County. The population was 190,695 at the 2010 census (105,486 in Potter County, and 85,209 in Randall). The Amarillo metropolitan area has an estimated population of 236,113 in four counties.
Amarillo, originally named Oneida, is situated in the Llano Estacado region. The availability of the railroad and freight service provided by the Fort Worth and Denver City Railroad contributed to the city's growth as a cattle marketing center in the late 19th century.
The city was once the self-proclaimed "Helium Capital of the World" for having one of the country's most productive helium fields. The city is also known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas" (as the city takes its name from the Spanish word for yellow), and most recently "Rotor City, USA" for its V-22 Osprey hybrid aircraft assembly plant. Amarillo operates one of the largest meat packing areas in the United States. Pantex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the country, is also a major employer. The location of this facility also gave rise to the nickname Bomb City. The attractions Cadillac Ranch and Big Texan Steak Ranch are located adjacent to Interstate 40. U.S. Highway 66 also passed through the city.

"Is This the Way to Amarillo" is a song written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield, referring to Amarillo, Texas. It is about a man traveling to Amarillo to find his girlfriend. The reason that Amarillo was chosen for the song was because it was the only place name that Sedaka could think of that rhymed with "willow" and "pillow". The song was originally to be titled, "Is This the Way to Pensacola" referring to Pensacola, Florida, but Sedaka felt that Amarillo worked better than Pensacola.
Written by two Americans about a United States city, the song was first released in Europe, where it has become much more famous than it has ever been in the composers' native country.
The song was recorded by Tony Christie and released in the UK in November 1971, initially reaching number 18 in the UK Singles Chart. However, it was a substantially bigger hit at that time across Continental Europe, notably in Germany and Spain, where it made number one. Following its re-issue in 2005, promoted with a video featuring Peter Kay, the song gained even greater prominence.

"Come on, come on, come on and let me love you." Hey guys! So here's my very first video of Anne With An E. I'm very new in the fandom. The show was on my Netflix list as soon as it came on the platform. But I never took the time to watch it. I have this bad habit, that since it is a 'Netflix' show, it will be on it forever so I can watch it whenever I want. I do this with a lot of shows. You should see my Netflix list. No, actually you shouldn't. But anyway. As some of you know, I'm VERY obsessed with Sanditon (no sh*t, Sherlock!) and one of my favorite scene is when Sidney and Charlotte dance. So a few weeks after Sanditon finale, I had a recommendation on my YT. Have you guessed? Yes, it was Gilbert and Anne's dance and I had to click. OH MY GOD! I was like, whaaat?!? Three days late...
