Wange LEGO Compatible Truck Set Power Review
Wange LEGO Compatible Truck Set
Power Review
This is really an ok set, as long as you can get it for a good price. And as funny as that statement sounds, that's pretty much Wange in a nut shell; ok brick sets, as long as you can get them for an ok price
.
In the past
I've heard of a lot problems with Wange brick sets, but so far I've not experienced that so-called
nightmare that I heard Wange set are. Therefore I can only conclude, that Wange's quality has increased over the last few years, but don't expect too much from a Wange set. That ways, if you do have a problem with it, you won't be overly upset about it.
How does Wange bricks compare with some of the other bricks out there?
I think Wange is somewhere between Enlighten bricks, and
Best Lock bricks; Enlighten on the high end, and Best Lock on the low of that comparison scale. So if you're will to try some Best Locks sets, you'll probably do well trying a few Wange sets out.
Pros and Cons of this particular set.
Pros:
A fairly nice truck, if you can get it for a good price
It comes with 2 minifigs
Fairly good brick quality; not LEGO quality, but better than Best Lock quality
Cool looking chrome colored stack pipes
Cons:
Hard to get here in the
USA, therefore it normally sells for more than it's worth
Design quality is a bit questionable; it has a few pieces that may tend to easily fall off
The chrome stack pipes don't fit well

This quote from
Wikipedia addresses the rights for other companies to produce LEGO-like bricks, but does not address whether LEGO actually had the right to patent them in the fist place:
At least two of the largest clone manufacturers have been challenged in court by
Lego. The lawsuits have been mostly unsuccessful, as courts have generally found the functional design of the basic brick to be a matter of patent rather than trademark law, and all relevant Lego patents have expired.
