ENGLISH BELOW היום זהו יום ירושלים. היום בו אנו חוגגים את התקווה לאחר אלפיים שנה ,היום בו חוגגים את השיבה למולדתנו, ואת איחוד ירושלים בירתנו. היום בו אנו חוגגים שהגלות הנוראית שהתחילה בחורבן בית שני נגמרה בשיחרור ירושלים במלחמת ששת הימים. ביום זה מדינת ישראל מסמנת דבר נוסף- יום הזכרון לנספי סודן. היהודים האמיצים הללו שוויתרו על כל רכושם,כספם וביתם בכדי להגשים את חלומם ולהגיע ״לארץ זבת חלב ודבש״ -ירושלים. ארבעת אלפים יהודים שהבינו שהחירות האמיתית כיהודים בעולם הזה, יכולה להתגשם רק בארצנו. אנו זוכרים את הגיבורים שלא זכו להגשים את החלום ברגשות מעורבים בעצבות ובגאווה. מטרתנו בתור יהודים היא לזכור את המסע שיהודים אלו עברו ולפעול למען אחדות העם. בהבנה הזאת חשוב לדעת שההיסטוריה של יהודי אתיופיה לא התחילה במסע, במשך אלפיים שנה עם ישראל במזרח אפריקה היה לסמל של התמדה והצלחה יהודית אל מול אלימות אנטישמית. כדי לכבד ולזכור את הגיבורים היהודים הללו, ולהעריך את עם ישראל בכללותו אנו חברי תנועת החרות העולמית מתכבדים להציג את ״הסיפור האמיתי של ביתא ישראל״. Today is Jerusalem day. Today we celebrate the hope of two thousand years. Today we celebrate the return to our homeland, and the reunification with Jerusalem our eternal capital. We celebrate that the terrible exile that began with the destruction of the second Temple finally came to an end with the liberation of Jerusalem in the Six Day War. On this day, the State of Israel also marks something else- Remembrance Day for the victims of Sudan. The brave Jews who gave up everything in order to realize their dream, their hope, to come the land of milk and honey- Jerusalem. Four thousand people who understood that true freedom as Jews in this world can only be achieved in our land. In mixed emotions of sadness and pride, we remember these heroes who weren't able to realize this dream. As the inheritors of this dream, it is our aim to remember this sacrifice and in its merit act on behalf of national unity. With this goal in mind, it is important to highlight that the history of Ethiopian Jewry did not begin with this journey. For two thousand years the Israelites in east Africa were a symbol of Jewish perseverance and success in the face of violent antisemitism.
