Cold War propaganda cartoon aimed to fight the perceived threats of Soviet communism against exceptional American values, including Free Market Capitalism. It features Billy Bletcher as the voice of Labor. The 5 foot, 2 inch comedian often used his deep, baritone voice as cartoon villains. It also featured Daws Butler as the voice of Dr. Utopia. Daws, 5 ft. 2 as well, famously voiced Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Quick-Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Jinks the cat, Dixie the mouse, Augie Doggie, Peter Potamus, Wally Gator, Hokey Wolf, Super Snooper, Blabber Mouse, Cogswell Cogs, Elroy Jetson and many others.

1932 RKO short starring Roscoe Ates and Edgar Kennedy, with Billy Gilbert and Billy Bletcher. Edgar's first 4 "Average Man" shorts were released before this one. Edgar went on to make a total of 104 shorts in his own series. Roscoe went down in history as that annoying stuttering guy.

Billy Bletcher
William "Billy" Bletcher (September 24, 1894 – January 5, 1979) was an American actor, voice artist, and comedian. He is best known for providing the voice of Mickey's rival, Pete, for Disney from 1932 to 1954.
Career
Bletcher appeared on-screen in films and later television from the 1910s to the 1970s, including appearances in several Our Gang and The Three Stooges comedies.
He was most active as a voice actor. His voice was a deep and strong-sounding baritone.
Bletcher provided the voices of various characters for Walt Disney Pictures (Black Pete, Short Ghost and the Big Bad Wolf in Three Little Pigs and its spin-offs).
In MGM films, he voiced Spike the Bulldog and on some occasions even Tom and Jerry, in Tom and Jerry, and in Warner Bros. many characters, most notably the Papa Bear of Chuck Jones' The Three Bears after Mel Blanc had performed the role in the initial entry. He portrayed another villainous wolf in Little Red Riding Rabbit.
He auditioned to play one of the dwarfs in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. However, Walt Disney disapproved in fear that people would recognize Bletcher from the studio's Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck short subjects.

If you like high production values, realistic characters, and believable acting, stay far away from The Lost City, the silliest serial ever made. But his bizarre and hilarious epic is a must-see for fans who love PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE and anything else that's so-bad-it's-great. There's something here to offend practically everybody, particularly some harsh African stereotypes, but it's all presented with a sort of surrealistic energy that seems to propel it forward, so, if you're really going to watch this, well, just be prepared.
THE STORY: Pith-helmeted Kane Richmond as electrical engineer Bruce Gordon and entourage travel to Africa in search of the source of a mysterious magnetic disturbance wreaking havoc on the world. At the 28th meridian, he encounters Zolok, a slick-haired mad scientist in satin pajamas who lives in a gigantic laboratory with a captive scientist and his daughter, a hunchback named Gorzo and a guy who wears a bathing suit with suspenders and a lightning bolt on his chest (no kidding!) and enjoys "enlarging" (really) the local natives into giant oiled-down zombie slaves with colossal afros. It is never very clear what Zolok is really up to, and the 7-foot zombies say "ooh-ooh" and "ugh-ugh" a lot, but Zolok's raving as he wanders defeated through his empty lab is not to be missed if you are a fan of this kind of dismal blot on the face of cinema history (apparently William Boyd, who plays the character, appeared on set thoroughly toasted, and it's clear that scene was one of those days). Dialogue highlights include: "The enlarging machine is ready," "This is a new freezing gun I secretly invented!", "He promised to make a man of me. Big! Strong!", and "Yes, master!" "He has television so widely developed he can see anything within the range of a thousand miles." "The laugh of a madman," and, the classic, after a lady's scream is heard from a jungle hut, "That sounds like a white woman's voice!"
Apparently Sam Baker who plays Hugo, the black giant, in the serial said that he actually was glad to have the work when remembering making the serial. Everyone in it knew it was bottom-of-the-barrel stuff but back then sometimes even fairly hideous stereotyping as appears here was the norm and overlooked, like the proverbial elephant in the room.
So think what you want of this, but here it is in all its questionable glory.

"The Bodyguard" (fragment), is a 1944 American one-reel animated cartoon and is the 15th Tom and Jerry short directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, produced by Fred Quimby and animated by Ken Muse, Ray Patterson, Irven Spence and Pete Burness. The cartoon features Spike the bulldog in his second role, though this is the first time that we hear him speak. Spike bulldog in this cartoon voiced by the actor Billy Bletcher. It was produced in Technicolor and released to theatres on July 22, 1944 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer.
Interesting facts:
The second cartoon, in which appears bulldog Spike (first appearance - "Dog Trouble"). But this time he is talking.
Tom's phrase "I won!", and his evil laugh also were voiced Billy Bletcher.

Tom and Jerry is an American animated series of short films created in 1940, by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It centers on a rivalry between its two title characters, Tom and Jerry, and many recurring characters, based around slapstick comedy.
In its original run, Hanna and Barbera produced 114 Tom and Jerry shorts for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1940 to 1958. During this time, they won seven Academy Awards for Animated Short Film, tying for first place with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies with the most awards in the category. After the MGM cartoon studio closed in 1958, MGM revived the series with Gene Deitch directing an additional 13 Tom and Jerry shorts for Rembrandt Films from 1961 to 1962. Tom and Jerry then became the highest-grossing animated short film series of that time, overtaking Looney Tunes. Chuck Jones then produced another 34 shorts with Sib-Tower 12 Productions between 1963 and 1967. Three more shorts were produced, The Mansion Cat in 2001, The Karate Guard in 2005, and "A Fundraising Adventure" in 2014, making a total of 164 shorts. Various shorts have been released for home media since the 1990s.
