An international airport is an airport that offers customs and immigration facilities for passengers travelling between countries. International airports are typically larger than domestic airports and often feature longer runways and facilities to accommodate the heavier aircraft commonly used for international and intercontinental travel. International airports often also host domestic flights. Some, such as Frankfurt Airport in Germany are very large; others such as Fa'a'ā International Airport in Tahiti, are quite small.
Buildings, operations and management have become increasingly sophisticated since the mid 20th century, when international airports began to provide infrastructure for international civilian flights. Detailed technical standards have been developed to ensure safety and common coding systems implemented to provide global consistency. The physical structures that serve millions of individual passengers and flights are among the most complex and interconnected in the world. By the second decade of the 21st century, there were over 1,200 international airports and almost two billion international passengers along with 50 million metric tonnes of cargo were passing through them annually.
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (IATA: ORD, ICAO: KORD, FAA LID: ORD), also known as O'Hare Airport, Chicago International Airport, Chicago O'Hare or simply O'Hare, is an international airport located on the Far Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States, 17 miles (27 km) northwest of the Loop. It is the primary airport serving the Chicago area, with Midway Airport, about 10 miles (16 km) closer to the Loop, serving as a secondary airport. It is operated by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation. Most of O'Hare Airport is in Cook County, but a section of the southwest part of the airport is in DuPage County. The airport is located within a section of the City of Chicago contiguously connected to the rest of the city via a narrow strip of land about 200 ft (61 m) wide, running along Foster Avenue, from the Des Plaines River to the airport. This land was annexed into the city limits in the 1950s to assure the massive tax revenues associated with the airport would go to the city. The strip is bounded on the north by Rosemont and the south by Schiller Park.
An airport is an aerodrome with facilities for flights to take off and land. Airports often have facilities to store and maintain aircraft, and a control tower. An airport consists of a landing area, which comprises an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally active surface such as a runway for a plane to take off or a helipad, and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars and terminals. Larger airports may have fixed base operator services, airport aprons, air traffic control centres, passenger facilities such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services.
An airport with a helipad for rotorcraft but no runway is called a heliport. An airport for use by seaplanes and amphibious aircraft is called a seaplane base. Such a base typically includes a stretch of open water for takeoffs and landings, and seaplane docks for tying-up.
An international airport has additional facilities for customs and immigration.
In warfare, airports can become the focus of intense fighting, for example the Battle of Tripoli Airport or the Battle for Donetsk Airport, both taking place in 2014. An airport primarily for military use is called an airbase or air station.
International mostly means something (a company, language, or organization) involving more than a single country. The term international as a word means involvement of, interaction between or encompassing more than one nation, or generally beyond national boundaries. For example, international law, which is applied by more than one country and usually everywhere on Earth, and international language which is a language spoken by residents of more than one country.
The term international was coined by the utilitarian philosopher Jeremy Bentham in his Introduction to Principles of Morals and Legislation, which was printed for publication in 1780 and published in 1789. Bentham wrote: "The word international, it must be acknowledged, is a new one; though, it is hoped, sufficiently analogous and intelligible. It is calculated to express, in a more significant way, the branch of law which goes commonly under the name of the law of nations. The word was adopted in French in 1801.Thomas Erskine Holland noted in his article on Bentham in the 11th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica that "Many of Bentham's phrases, such as 'international,' 'utilitarian,' 'codification,' are valuable additions to our language; but the majority of them, especially those of Greek derivation, have taken no root in it."

ORD-AMS. Wintry Sunday afternoon at O'hare. Lots of snow around. Made for an exciting day to fly with lots of sliding around on the taxiway. I appreciate that at O'hare, they de-ice planes at the gate; a lot more efficient. I got very limited permission to climb onto a rooftop right next to Runway 22-Left ( RWY 22L / Runway 2-2-Left ) at Chicago's O'Hare International / Int'l Airport ( ICAO : KORD / IATA : ORD ) and shoot about an hour's worth of departures rolling off the only diagonal runway that is still frequently used for departures ( 32L is sometimes used from intersection Tango-10 and 4L will sometimes be used, as well, both only as overflow departure runways, 32L/T10 in West Flow, and 4L in East Flow ). Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long because of my agreement with the property manager to be up there, and because I was between shifts between both my jobs. Because the departures were lining up and quickly rolling out, I wasn't able to pull everyone's flight numbers. I also didn't have my scanner wit...
American Airlines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled passenger flight operated by American Airlines from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago to Los Angeles International Airport. A McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 used for this flight on May 25, 1979, crashed moments after takeoff from Chicago. All 258 passengers and 13 crew on board were killed, along with two people on the ground. It is the deadliest aviation accident to have occurred in the United States.
CORO:
Toda la vida, toda una vida,
caracolear buscando salida,
tú sabes que esta es mi forma
de vivir pa' llegar pa'arriba.
Toda la vida, toda una vida,
me quedaré a curar mis heridas,
y alguna vez (amando),
y alguna vez llorando.
Aprendo día con día a marcharme lejos sin volver atrás.
Me han dicho que "Sufrir te hace más fuerte" que "El olvido todo hace pasar"
y de tan'dolor que yo he probado,
solo y triste me he quedado,
mirando mis heridas olvidar.
Lo intento y no lo logro,
todo esto no lo aguanto.
CORO:
(cayendo)
Qué estás haciendo tú para evitar la trampa del pecado capital?
Por qué serás juzgado que no sea pasado por Allá?
No pierdan tiempo pa'decirme
quién yo soy, prefiero descubrirlo yo,
lo que con mi cabeza llego a pensar.
Si Dios perdona a todos,
tendrá que perdonarme,
si decidí que nada podrá cambiarme.
Coro:.
