The United States Football League was formed in 1983. The league was the first competition for the National Football League in 20 years. The USFL had three up and down seasons and by the end of 1985 it was more than $200 million in the hole. The upstart pro football league wanted in on the NFL’s profits. To get into the game the league moved its playing season to the fall and filed a lawsuit, claiming that the NFL violated antitrust laws by creating a monopoly. On July 29, 1986, a jury agreed the NFL was guilty of violating antitrust laws but awarded a fine of just $1.

The United States Football League was an American football league that played for three seasons, 1983 through 1985. The league played a spring/summer schedule in their three seasons. A fourth season, to be played in a traditional autumn/winter schedule, was set to commence before league operations ceased.
The USFL was conceived in 1965 by New Orleans, Louisiana, businessman David Dixon, who saw a market for a professional football league that would play while the established National Football League was in their off-season. Dixon had been a key player in the construction of the Louisiana Superdome and the expansion of the NFL into New Orleans in 1967. He developed "The Dixon Plan"—a blueprint for the USFL based upon securing NFL-caliber stadiums in top TV markets, securing a TV deal, and controlling spending—and found investors willing to buy in.

The All-America Football Conference (AAFC) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL) from 1946 to 1949. One of the NFLs most formidable challengers, the AAFC attracted many of the nations best players, produced one of pro footballs greatest teams, and introduced many lasting innovations to the game. However, the AAFC was ultimately unable to sustain itself in competition with the NFL. Three of its teams were admitted to the NFL, of which two survive today.
The AAFC was the second American professional sports league (the first being the third American Football League) to have its teams play in a double round robin format in the regular season: each team had a home game and an away game with each of its AAFC "brethren."
The Cleveland Browns were the AAFC's most successful club, having won every annual championship in the league's four years of operation.

The Football League
The Football League is a league competition featuring professional association football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888, it is the oldest such competition in world football. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation in the 19th century until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split away to form the Premier League. The Football League has been associated with a title sponsor since 1983. As this sponsor has changed over the years the league too has been known by various names.
Since 1995 it has had 72 clubs evenly divided into three divisions, which are known as the Championship, League One, and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the League and is further extended to allow the top Championship clubs to exchange places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two to switch with the top clubs of the National League, thus integrating the League into the English football league system. Although primarily a competition for English clubs, clubs from Wales, Newport County, Cardiff City and Swansea City, also take part, while in the past Wrexham, Merthyr Town and Aberdare Athletic have been members.

Donald Trump
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.
Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. However, the AAFC was ultimately unable to sustain itself in competition with the NFL. Three of its teams were admitted to the NFL, of which two survive today.
The AAFC was the second American professional sports league (the first being the third American Football League) to have its teams play in a double round robin format in the regular season: each team had a home game and an away game with each of its AAFC "brethren."
The Cleveland Browns were the AAFC's most successful club, having won every annual championship in the league's four years of operation.

Just 8,753 fans witnessed the struggle in the 90,000-seat Los Angeles Coliseum, where the Express downed the Michigan Panthers 27-21 to advance to the Western Conference Championship.
Ironically, the player who broke up the game, tailback Mel Gray, broke his left arm as he crashed into the end zone on a 24-yard touchdown run at 3:33 of the third overtime.
Kevin Nelson scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run to bring the Express to within 21-19 with 52 seconds left in regulation time. Quarterback Steve Young followed with a dash around left end for the two-point conversion to set up the overtime.
Michigan had two chances to win, but Novo Bojovic missed a 37-yard field goal attempt with 10:13 left in the first overtime period and a 36-yarder with 36 seconds left in the second.

The teams played 4 hours and 3 minutes breaking the old mark of set by the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in a 1971 National Football League playoff game. Just 8,753 fans witnessed the struggle in the 90,000-seat Los Angeles Coliseum, where the Express downed the Michigan Panthers 27-21 to advance to the Western Conference Championship.
Ironically, the player who broke up the game, tailback Mel Gray, broke his left arm as he crashed into the end zone on a 24-yard touchdown run at 3:33 of the third overtime.
Kevin Nelson scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run to bring the Express to within 21-19 with 52 seconds left in regulation time. Quarterback Steve Young followed with a dash around left end for the two-point conversion to set up the overtime.
Michigan had two chances to win, but Novo Bojovic missed a 37-yard field goal attempt with 10:13 left in the first overtime period and a 36-yarder with 36 seconds left in the second.

The New Jersey Generals trotted out their big gun but it was a seldom-used weapon that led them past the Jacksonville Bulls.
Herschel Walker scored two short touchdowns and quarterback Gene Bradley ran for another to lead New Jersey. But the Generals' 28-26 victory, was clinched only when Jacksonville's Danny Miller missed a 42-yard field goal attempt with 40 seconds left.
The game drew a USFL record crowd of 73,227 at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla., breaking the previous record of 62,300 set last week at the.Generals' game in Birmingham.
Bradley, filling in for injured Brian Sipe, passed for 140 yards and ran a 5-yard bootleg for the TD that gave the Generals a 28-19 lead with 2:16 remaining. The score came four plays after New Jersey intercepted a Matt Robinson pass.
Bradley replaced Sipe, who was unable to play after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove torn cartilage from his right knee Thursday.
The Bulls, 1-1, drew to 28-26 when Robinson capped an eight-play drive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Gary Clark with 1:45 left. Jacksonville recovered the ensuing on-side kick at the 50 but Miller was just wide right with a field goal attempt that would have won the game.
